Thanks for your comment. The Minox is such a cool camera design. Let me know the results after you shoot a roll of film through it.

$108 in year 1966 will be $1,008 in year 2023, quite expansive. I bought a nice well kept working Minox B from e-Bay for about $60, but I can not get 11mm films.

Thank you for this thorough explanation of the Minox B and accessories..I have just recently purchased my first Minox B (1967) and I'm looking for as much info as I can find..I found the German design of the tripod fascinating ,You explained the functions very clearly and concisely.

Glad that you liked the Minox video. I got mine in 1966 as a high school graduation gift from my parents. However, it was used, so is probably older than yours.

Amazing story and very descriptive, man I imagine the joy of getting that camera for your graduation highschool gift! Must’ve felt like you were James Bond! So cool you still have all the accessories to show us. Those germans sure were innovative!

I just finished shooting a roll of 25ISO film in the Minox. I am awaiting the processing to be completed.

Thanks for posting this great little film. I am a big fan of the Minox cameras and have recently re-discovered the interest. I have owned a black 'C' model for many years, more as a collectors curio and regrettably, never really used it. A couple of weeks ago, suffering from 'UK Lock-Down-itis', I suddenly had the desire to really go for it and find a good Minox B (the one I had always really wanted!) and then start getting hold of accessories, film and start taking photos.
Mission accomplished (partly!) in that I now seem to have acquired TWO Minox B cameras and a variety of their very clever accessories. One camera is also a 'mint' condition1966 model like yours! Film is on the way, along with a new tripod (Minox have continued to make these in the identical way since the very first one) and soon I will be out taking photos. We have one company left here in the UK, who specialise in Minox photography; M.S. Hobbies in Putney, London. They will do my developing and other processing until I begin to collect some developing equipment and try my own. It is many years since I last developed any form of B and W film, (35mm back then) and so this will be a real challenge, but hopefully a lot of fun too. Anyway, thanks again for your demo film and good luck. Stay well and have fun.

Thanks for the long message. I hope you have fun with the Minox collection. I am curious how the film developing goes for you.

@@earlmccowen5197 Hello! Well, if anything comes out...I will let you know! Could be a while before I get round to doing my own, but if anything successful comes from any of my experiments with the Minox, I will let you know.
      All the best.

@@lawrencemartin1113 Since we are spoiled by the quality of images from simple point-and-shoot cameras and the ubiquitous cell phone cameras, you may be somewhat disappointed with the image quality from the Minox. However, it is not all about image quality! Part of the fun is simply handling and operating a precision-made mechanical camera. Especially one as unique as the Minox. Have fun with your Minox cameras.

@@earlmccowen5197 Far from being disappointed, I will relish the old school charm of some period look images which took some effort to produce. I have a great Canon digital SLR for the everyday and more capable stuff, but I love the 'quality' of grainy black and white pictures where not every detail is pin sharp. It is all part of what drew me to these tiny marvels, even as a boy, learning some basics with my father, using his old 'Ilford Sportsman' 35mm camera and our tiny dark room at home. I am sure I will make many errors and struggle to do well, but it will not prevent enormous enjoyment from just having fun with a Minox. As you say, much of that enjoyment comes from just handling and using such a beautifully designed piece of vintage kit. Thanks for the reply, nice to hear from you. Take care.

Got my B and a developing tank. All I need now to start using it is a film splicer. Will try to make one myself. I'm truly looking forward to seeing the pictures it will produce for the first time. A friend of mine got one in the late 70's. Long before digital. So I never saw any of the pictures made from it.

Thanks for the video Earl! Do you know of anyone who will process the film other than Blue Moon? They are a too expensive to make using the camera reasonable.

Hi Phil- Sorry but I have had no success in finding another Minox film processing company. It seems that some Minox users do the developing themselves. That is beyond my skill level, so I will stick with Blue Moon, regardless of the cost. Please let me know if you find someone else who does Minox processing.
