    I know this is a 3 year old video, but i feel like i need to point out a mistake: according to the user manual, the film iso is set when changing the film. First turn the shutter speed dial so the triangle is pointing at the desired iso, then open the film compartment so the light meter is disengaged to the shutter speed dial. Set shutter speed to the red dot (1/100 s), then load film and close the compartment.

      Hi,
      I am glad that the video was useful to you.
      Truly, these tiny cameras are amazing.

    This was the most produced Minox 8 x 11 film camera made. After this model some automatic more easily handled Minox cameras were made, the best of which was the LX. Before this one the first automatic was the C, also very good. These two had corrected the worst defect of the B. I'm referring to the fact that every time you open and close a B model, the film is transported. Not so with the C or LX models. Only when the shutter was pressed, the film moved to the next exposure when closing the camera. All Minox 8 x 11 are gems, fantastic quality and if you use fine grain film, up to 20 x 25 cms. photos can be printed both color and black and white. Apart from its size, the extremely high quality of the Minox is the main reason why it was used as a spy camera by both the US Great Britain and the old USSR, There are several stories and anecdotes of the Minox as a spy camera including the discovery of the nukes in Cuba in 1962,

      Were they used much for recreational photography?

      @@mattgoves3031 my Dad used to use one many years ago, for recreational photography, unfortunately he passed away in 1975, but I still have his camera and it has film in it. I’m planning on getting it developed and see the last pictures he ever took, can’t wait to see them. Aloha.

    I have my Dad’s camera from back in the 60s-70s, unfortunately he passed away in ‘75, but I remember him using it as a recreational camera and used it extensively when we travelled. It took great pictures from what I recall. There is film in it, so I’ll have to get it developed, it’ll be nice to see what the last photos he ever took are. Thank you for the informative video, it’ll help if I ever decide to use it. Aloha.

      @@photographyandmore No problem! I really appreciate the amount of effort you put into the video. The pawn stars video was cool, but this explained so much about the little camera. 😊

    I have a borrowed Minox B, I find this confusing. After setting the ASA/ISO to 100, every time I change the shutter speed, it changes the ASA???

    • @thepurestofboredom1219
      @thepurestofboredom1219 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just added a reply - basically you set the iso, then open the film compartment so turning the shutter speed dial doesn’t change meter dial, and set the shutter speed to 1/100 s. That’s how the iso is correctly set and the light meter can be easily used.

    0:17 that's not how you set the ASA... it's coupled to the shutter speed dial, so when you chose your shutter speed it would just change the ASA? (It's too hard to explain how to ACTUALLY set your ASA in this comment... but this isn't how you do it. Also if your selenoid light meter is off, there's a way to set the ASA to that so you can still use the light meter if the selenoid is weak.)

    8:48 did you take the effort to black out your camera's serial number?? Why? LOL. Is it stolen?
