In this video we add a DC accessory wiring circuit and components to our 2006 KTM 300 XCW two-stroke enduro build bike. We upgrade the stock regulator to a modern regulator/rectifier with relay switching, upgrade the stock stator with a Ricky Stator rewound unit that puts out up to 100 watts (stock is 40 watts) and we build a simple wiring loom to run our accessories like headline, GPS device, cooling fans, and anything else you want!

I'm thinking about adding a DC system into a old mx bike. This is best video that I've come across, would you tap into the CDI before or after?
Most videos add a system that doesn't charge, who wants to charge a battery every few days.
    Thanks for posting, good work

judging by how the ktm is wired its before the cdi man. im currently doing the same on my 05 rm250 just gonna splice into the 2 feeds off the stator and go from there.
90% sure ill have to fload the earth too reading forums alot of people have the same issue.
im wanting to charge the battery cos im putting elec start on but the kit im getting doesnt self charge so im gonna make it charge via reg reculator.

@@kbsrfilms903 well I'd look into getting a stator wired for 40 watts or more. That's my plan for my cr 250, it has separate leads for the reg/rectifier, wire up a separate system for the DC, and your in business

@@XJonAye disregard what I said mate, you’ll need to change stator to a lighting stator it will have the 2 yellow feeds coming off the harness ready to go.
That’s what I have to do for my rm. but I’d say the cr will be the same

@@kbsrfilms903 yup, your correct, trail tech makes one for my bike. Then I'll need a regulator rectifier, and I'm going to wire up a battery.

@@kbsrfilms903bro do you know if cdi box can work on DC. I have problems starting my rm 250, its ignition system is from 96 but on the frame it says that the motor is 01, but that is not important. The problem is: I DO HAVE a spark but when the magneto spins hard and fast. That's why I'm thinking if I can add a battery to the system for much easier ignition, just start it and then turn it off (I'll make a button). As far as I know, to power a battery I must have a regulator. I don't think the motor system currently has an AC to DC transformer, so I think it works on AC. if i put a transformer to transform all the current produced by the alternator to dc, i don't know if the cdi box will work. So my main question is will cdi work on dc. I will adjust the rest, I can also put a headlight and other accessories. I know that the stator is probably not powerful enough to power everything, but I will fine-tune that later
