How to Add Back Paddles to PS5 Controller with Extreme Rate Remap Kit (Easy Method)

- Do you want to know how to Add Paddles to your PS5 Controller? You can easily get a Remap kit from Amazon. In the video, I am using the extreme rate remap kit and it's around 45 dollars. My version adds two paddles to the controller, the other versions can add up to 4 buttons on the back of the controller. This will take about 45 minutes to install and is moderate difficulty, there is no soldering! And you will need to take apart your PS5 controller. This will turn your controller into a PRO Controller.

I watched the tutorial from the company that makes these paddles and on their video they say you have to cut the cables depending on which controller you have the version 10 or 20

@@MrCold- OK so for PS five look at the back of your controller. It should say model if it has a little a right there you should get.bdm 020 if it doesn’t look up 010 paddles

Seems pretty complicated to me. Just opening the Controller requiries already 4 more steps than with the ps4 controller.

Also 4x better and more complex than the PS4 controller. If you like the PS4 one so much then use that. Or if you don't wanna do this there are 200 dollar controllers you can buy for people who did the work for you
@@hazeylegend3210 you cannot use a ps4 controller on ps5 games silly. Otherwise I would. And just because it has some haptic innovation features, it is still less sturdy and less ergonomic. 4 times better? 🤣And of course I was able to put the paddles in. But it was still more work
You can see this on the back of the controller. If there is a small letter A in the middle of the top lines, you are dealing with a BDM-020, otherwise with a BDM-010

I think the l3 and r3 are optional, and its from another version. I followed exactly what he said in the video and my controller works perfectly. U might have missed a cable connection, but this has nothing to do with the guy in the video.
Mine doesn't turn on as well. I disassembled it again, was able to turn it on again for a short time and now i can't again. Did u find a fix for your problem?
You probably pulled the battery from the cables and not the plastic tip thus tearing your battery cable or you tore a ribbon cable
It was the L1L2 cable. The ribbon has to flip on itself so the pins are facing the other way. Try that. It's difficult but it worked for me until the cable ripped. The new ones are bigger.

@@RBGzzzzz you should have checked withc controller version you have. every extrmerate kit has different versions. they even state this on theire amazon pages and on theire website. They give clear instruction onhow to check wich controller version you have. Bdm-010 bdm-020 or bdm-030. the ribbon cables and remap board are different on each version.

They were! Mine's still work when playing on the PS5. I'm still buying this back paddle for my Dualsense tho.

They did it on purpose to force you to buy the pro controller. Complete garbage company.
@@jollygrapefruit786 and they locked the menu option to remap your controller to the edge. Sony could have alowed us to atleast remap the trigger deadzones and the face buttons on the regular dualsense. but no, they did this to force peopel to buy the edge. And why does the edge not have hall effect sticks and mechanical buttons?
The edge should also have the shell made of some other stronger material like the xbox elite 2 controller. (but with better quality controll). And the edge has only two paddles instead of 4.
Now finally because of steam i can now remap the back paddles on pc to any button i like instead ofcopy over the face buttons or the triggers.
On the remap kits you can only remap the controls on the controller itself. woul be nice if these also had different profiles to swithc to.

@@bloodymilchshake5876 I ended up buying a replacement conductive film from Amazon for like $9. Then replaced it myself. It’s actually not too hard.
@@BigDawgJro thanks for telling me. And that fixed your problem? I'm just confused how the conductive film might be the problem, since i didn't do anything with it and after disassembling it again, it turned on for a short period of time.
@@bloodymilchshake5876 yeah it was good as new after I replaced it. I knew it was my film that was bad though because all my buttons still worked when plugged into the pc. Just couldn’t turn it on to use with my ps5.

Finally received my paddle kit today, however when I opened up the controller I discovered I have neither the 10 or 20 version,.. wtf do I do now?? Components don’t fit, .. guess I will be another month trying to get a dam refund,.

Update on this, did some surgery on it I got it to start! Although now the L2 button is constantly engaged. Also it really only works in menu not in game.

yes, but you need ds4 windows to use ps5 controllers on call of duty games, basically non steam games

just look at the video from extremerate themselfs then. they do show how to connect it. plus they show it for all dualsense models (BDM010 BDM020 BDM030). If your controller has the uk ca logo on the back you have a BDM-20. Pluis the BDM -20 has a straight line under the trigger. So if you pull the triller look if you see astraight line. then it is a bdm020. if you see a small corner on the right side you have a bdm010. if you see a straight line plus a spring then you have a bdm030.
to my knowledge all the new colored ones are the new BDM030 model. So when buying any of the kits from extremrate look at your dualsense model nr.
