Great starter guide Mystic! Just want to mention that for folks who are hooking up PSVR, a quality passive USB 3 hub will help. A USB hub helps keep a rear port free for a USB HDD or SSD for those PS4 games.

Finally got a PS5 today and this video helped a lot! Astro's Playroom blew me away. I really wasn't expecting a tech demo to be that much fun. As someone that's been gaming since the PS1, I loved the tributes and call-backs to all of the past PlayStation consoles and accessories. Now I'm playing through the Director's Cut of Ghost of Tsushima and am in awe of how beautiful the visuals are. Thanks for the helpful vid and happy playing to all new PS5 owners :)
I bought mine a couple of days ago and waiting for the package to arrive. I'm killing the time by watching your videos. These will be useful in a short time ☺️
Thank you for this video Ryan!! You are the man! I was lucky enough to get my ps5 on December 16th after literally trying over a dozen times to get one! Merry Christmas!! And anybody out there still trying to get one, keep trying!! I know it’s hard and discouraging, but just keep trying cause this thicc boy is worth it!!
PlayStation 5. Can’t wait to get mine come Christmas time, I’ve been putting some money aside every now and then to be able to afford it around the holiday season. Gonna have fun with the homies
Was able to finally get one on the 31st of December and am very impressed. I got an Xbox Series X the week before so it's been quite an awesome couple of weeks. Love the new PS controller and picked up the new Ratchet game as my first game and spent the entire weekend having a blast playing it. My Spider-Man PS4 pro has moved to the bedroom and will probably not get used much but it's such a nice looking console, it's definitely sticking around for when I'm stuck in the bedroom for whatever reason. Glad I waited it out and didn't pay scalper prices but the console is definitely worth buying at retail.
Thanks for the tips and tricks. Especially the one about how to use the stand for a horizontal orientation of the console. But wow, I bought the PS5 for my 10 year old, things have come a long way since my Atari 2600 in 1981. I would rather go back to that :)
Good video covering most things a person new to a PS5 needs to know. The plastic stand supplied is fine for vertical placement, but unsecure if placed horizontal, I replaced mine with a third party stand, which is much better. Secondly, I would avoid 3d audio for tv speakers as it muddies the audio, stick with stereo, 3d audio works fine with headphones, though.
Finally got my hands on a PS5 Saturday. Gamestop got a drop and it was a bundle. After watching this video I'm happier it was a bundle got games, headset, and extra colored controller. I'm now going through these videos to make sure I get the most out of it. Thank you for making such great and useful content!
@@dis6wood You sure buddy? Because i saw people on reddit bricking their console because of an bug with the controller, and many other bricked consoles because of some bugs. Its not that common but it definitely happens.
Already had my PS5 for a few months at the time of this video being released, but it’s still an awesome video that I wholeheartedly agree with. Especially with firing up Astro’s Playroom asap. It’ll make you fall in love with the DualSense within the first five minutes. When I first had my PS4 I loved it. I thought Sony had hit it out the park. Though over time and numerous system updates it became a little janky. Fine in games, but frequent lag on the dashboard. The PS5 is fast and sleek as the day I first fired it up. The PS Store baked in is a game changer. PS4 compatibility is near flawless. I haven’t encountered a single game in my collection that doesn’t run as well (better even) than it did on my PS4 Slim (FFXV Edition). I also vastly prefer the UI. Simple, yet powerful enough to have everything you need (especially since they updated the social section in the quick menu). No theme support, but you’ll spend so little time on the main hub screen that it doesn’t matter and each game as you select on kinda add their own flair much like with the PS3. If I already saw this vid and commented before…then oops, I guess.
I switched from b Xbox Series S to a PS4 Pro in 2017 and I'd been using the same console up until a few weeks ago when I sold it and bought a PS5. I was ecstatic...until I got a Xbox Series X a week ago. The PS5 and the HDR on my TV weren't getting along well and no amount of tweaking would rectify the issue. Everything in HDR looked really washed-out and bland. The Xbox however, it automatically adjusted my TV settings perfectly and even turns on my TVs Game Mode when a game starts. Games and TH-cam look amazing. From a standby state the Xbox takes 3 seconds to fire up and be ready to go...the PS5 takes noticibly longer. Xbox has Game Resume. But the thing that put the final nail in the PlayStation coffin was Game Pass Ultimate. $1 for the 1st month and $14.99/mo after...and you get more games than you can imagine. GOOD games too, in fact there were many games on Game Pass that I already paid for on PS Plus just recently and that was a bummer. With Game Pass Ultimate you also get all the EA titles and the Xbox Gold stuff. It's just ridiculous. So, after having both consoles here together for almost a week I sold the PS5 (with an extra controller) yesterday to a young couple for 500 bucks and I plan to get another PS4 (I have over 350 games on my PS account still) but probably won't worry about a PS5 until the Pro model comes out. That's just my experience though, I'm not trying to crap on PlayStation or Sony... although they're getting a little censorship-happy these days... I just wanted to share a perspective from an actual player that had both systems at the same time and could compare them in realtime. And trust me I wanted my PS5 worse than anyone and it killed me to have to accept that the Xbox was the better machine (for me and my TV at least) especially after selling my PS4 Pro and my MacBook Pro to buy it.
Just got mine in the mail and this is a huge help so big thanks. It's been about 8 yrs since I bought my PS4 and it's weirdly intimidating to jump into a new console.

Just got my 1st Playstation since the PS2. Been all in on Xbox, with minor dabbling on the Wii and Switch only to be let down. Work at Target and got in 4 consoles today and told myself if it's still there when I leave, I'll buy it. Got sucked into Astros Playground and played a bit of Miles Morales and omg it's such a good time. It's just taking a bit to get use to the lack of configurable settings and the controller.
To be honest I’m actually still happily enjoying my ps4. Society always make us believe we need to get the next best thing instead of being happy with what we have. Not hating or anything, I can afford one, but I’m just happy with my 4.
Ngl man, my PS4 has been a beast for so many years. But coming over to the PS5, with 4k at 120 fps and 60 fps for games, load times are almost nonexistent, I freakin love it! Obviously had to pay more for it with everything going on but holy crap man it is amazing

I loved my ps3 especially the free multiplayer but unfortunately PS canceled that. 😭 I ended up getting the PS5 prior to that I have the xbox1? Although, to be frank all of Microsofts games can be played on a gaming PC. So, PS upgrade was the logical choice since I can now play PS3 multiplayer games. :3 like God of War Ascession. It retained all my information and stats from about 10 years - AMAZING. PS5, will be there when you are ready.

Okay, I'm not gonna lie. The stand being able to hold my PS5 vertically was a big surprise for me. I honestly never knew that and I've had my PS5 standing vertically without it. I always wondered if there was a 3rd party stand that I could buy to help support it because I thought it was only meant to hold the PS5 sideways. Man, I feel like the world's dumbest human being in existence.
I didn't sleep on Astro. I actually play it with my son (6yrold) and I like how you mentioned it's a walk through PS history and I'm glad I got to experience that with him.
I'm also gonna join the crew here and say that I too recently got a ps5, it's a huge step from the crappy laptop I bought in 2016 that struggled to even run fortnite and genshin impact, playing fallout 4 and Destiny 2 with high fps is such a blessing. ❤❤❤
Definitely useful information. Going to see about making some changes. Have only played mine twice since Christmas. Didn't know what the Astros playroom was, thought it had to do with the streaming services or saving videos from the games- pretty sure I uninstalled it to free up space since mine was almost full after installing 7 games with all the updates. Had to order an internal drive. So I'm waiting for that now. Which external drive are you using? I grabbed my 1tb that I never used and tried to save games to it but it was taking 17 minutes for a smaller game. I can't wait that long to transfer games back and forth. I even bought a new cord for the usb-c port still taking about 15 minutes. Thanks for the info.

After a long wait. I finally got myself a PS5. Been away from console for over 5 years. This video help alot. Thank you Mystic. Just subscribed

Happy Christmas Ryan and everyone reading this 🎄
Just got my PS5 after almost one-and-a-half year of waiting. It‘s awesome, as is this video. The feature of global game settings is genius for someone like me who always had to adjust controller settings to ‚invert vertical camera motion‘. This video is as relevant as it was when it was published! Keep up the good work!
Same just got mine yesterday🙂
That's insane,a year and a half wait!
Hadn't they made any lol.
I called the local shop the other day to see if they had any in stock,as I didn't wanna wait 4 days to get one off ebay lol. But shop was outta stock, said won't get more for ages...which is weird, because there all over ebay. And I'm pretty certain there were stacks of ps5s for sale on ebay even a year ago.
I better hurry up and get one before the ps5 pro comes out lol or ps6
@@Dave101. now just a short 10 hour wait for everything to transfer

Just opened up my PS5 today. This was very helpful. Thank you, and merry Christmas.
The PS5 is my first console and your guide is just perfect for someone like me, thank you!
I bought mine a couple of days ago and waiting for the package to arrive. I'm killing the time by watching your videos. These will be useful in a short time ☺️
For real I’m waiting for mine and this past week couldn’t be any longer🤣
I just got my PS5 yesterday and came here now... Very helpful info...
Thank u so much and have a great Xmas 💖

I just got mine. We don't have much money, so the fact that I even got one is a miracle. I am subbing for future reference.
first time PS owner really helpful video!
Thanks for the tips and tricks. Especially the one about how to use the stand for a horizontal orientation of the console. But wow, I bought the PS5 for my 10 year old, things have come a long way since my Atari 2600 in 1981. I would rather go back to that :)
Yeah my old commodore 64 was the shit...
What 3rd party stand would you recommend?
@Adrian I ordered a fastsnail horizontal stand; it may not be the best, but it works for me, no issues since.
@@joet6434 still working well for you?
@@shawndahjohnson737 yeah, no problems, does the job & was relatively cheap. No disc problems laying horizontal.
Finally got my hands on a PS5 Saturday. Gamestop got a drop and it was a bundle. After watching this video I'm happier it was a bundle got games, headset, and extra colored controller. I'm now going through these videos to make sure I get the most out of it. Thank you for making such great and useful content!
how many headsets can you connect to one console? i just bought PS5 for my husband and my son, should I buy two headsets?
Ordered it on Saturday! And it arrives Wednesday I'm counting down the days!

Never be a beta tester duh, as if you never learned, since the ps3 and 360, its common knowledge.
@@freshnesbro3792 it was never anything that bad on this system
@@dis6wood You sure buddy? Because i saw people on reddit bricking their console because of an bug with the controller, and many other bricked consoles because of some bugs. Its not that common but it definitely happens.
@@freshnesbro3792 not my particular console. Never had any serious issues and I played it a lot. Still works great
bro I just got one this christmas, success
I thought that the stand was only for having it stand up vertically, so it’s interesting that it could also be applied for horizontal setups
My 2 nephews got the PlayStation 5for Christmas it is brilliant
Just pre-ordered a PS5 and will be getting it next week. Thank you for all these tips and tricks
So you time travelled to 2020, bought the series s and go back in time and switched it for ps4 pro in 2017? Man that awesome..

@@Clintoniumer oh yeah I’m sure it’s wonderful, i just don’t feel like I need one right now. But Thanks for replying. I’ll eventually give in and buy one lol
I loved my ps3 especially the free multiplayer but unfortunately PS canceled that. 😭
I ended up getting the PS5 prior to that I have the xbox1? Although, to be frank all of Microsofts games can be played on a gaming PC.
So, PS upgrade was the logical choice since I can now play PS3 multiplayer games. :3 like God of War Ascession.

Also, the graphics are noticably different and fully utilize 4k especually the Ghost game. It's like playing a CGI movie. It's insane.
