Awesome video. We watched the entire thing. We are glad you got an ebike ride thru the cove. We've done it, and it's awesome. You guys got the best footage with the bears and turkeys, etc. You guys killed it with the food. We never knew about the marker for the cemetery on Hyatt Lane. We will look for it next time we go. Wish we could have been there. We went in April. Thanks for sharing. Next week we are going to tent camp at Mile High Campground. Take care. God Bless. .

I totally agree with you. There is just something special about the Great Smoky Mountains and Cades Cove. We try and visit a couple times a year. I never knew there was so much history in the Cove. I call the Smoky Mountains…God’s Country! There is no other place like it! I feel such a closeness to God and to my Daddy who is up there with him when we visit. One day I would love to live up there. Ty for sharing. Now, I want to go!❤

This is the absolute best camping trip I have seen in 3 years of watching your vlogs!! Since the Florida vlogs I'm having complete knee replacement on both knees. I started laughing at the windshield episode with the Yorkie😂, the views, the bears, the camp food, fire side chat, and the information given ! 😊 Thanks for this one ! Your best one on Cades Cove. Your camp site was much better equipped than the last Cades Cove. 😊 keep up the excellent work !!!
Thank you so much for these kind words. We have made at least 3 camping videos here, and we are glad that you like this one the best. We actually do get the same campsite every year, because I always book it well in advance. We pray your knees get to feeling better after you have the replacement. We hope that helps. Yes, our little Yorkie is a spunky little guy...always has been. I will post a link for you at the end of this comment, when he was much younger. It was from 11 years ago. We were in FL then, and he was really going at it with the wipers. It is on another channel that I don't use much, but it is still hilarious. Notice how he speeds up the barking, when the wipers speed up. Cades Cove is my #1 on my bucket list but I am not sure I could deal with the crowds. Beautiful place and fascinating stories of the people who lived there. While it makes me sad that it was taken away from them, I feel like it would be an overdeveloped residential or resort area now. I am so glad it has been preserved and protected.
I do hope you get to the Cove. If you haven't experienced it, you definitely want to. My advice, would be to go during the week. Even on Friday of this past holiday weekend, it was VERY easy to get through. But that changed the next day, and all through the weekend. Be aware if you do want to go, that Wednesday is closed to vehicles, and open only to bikers and hikers. That will end after September, I think.
Cades Cove is my favorite place, and it is so beautiful and peaceful. Thank you for sharing your camping trip. I especially loved seeing the clouds after the rain. Wow! Nice to see the sunset also. My family and I have visited there so many times, and each visit is always so special. We just returned from our vacation there the Friday before Labor Day but missed out on visiting Cades Cove this time. Thank you both for sharing about God who we can trust every day.
Amen to that! Thank you so very much for your kind words. We are glad you had a great vacation up there, as well. But sorry that you didn't get to see the Cove this time. We are glad that our video brought you enjoyment.
Beautiful place, God's country. I've lived here in north GA all my life and have never been there. After watching your videos I am going there soon. Great video.
@cecilbrown6692 So glad you enjoy our videos, and are going there because of this one. If you could possibly swing it to go on a weekday, you would probably encounter far less traffic. When you go, please let us know how your trip was.
We are lovers of the Cove also. I'm glad it rained, so much needed. Not much fun tent camping in the rain, unless you have an rpod 😅 Yes. get cots and a tent with a real rain fly. Happy you saw mama and her cubs. Steaks, Yum, and Derrick loved your burnt taters, 😅. The Ramsay's were married in the Cove , in I think The Baptist church, also check out Ramsay's Falls! Happy Camping 🏕 😊
Yes, they really did need the rain, so we were prepared for it. When it rains early in the trip, it is no big deal, because things dry out. When it rains the last night, that means taking everything home wet, and drying them in the yard, which is what we had to do. But we were glad that it rained on the fires. Yes, seeing the mother bear and cubs, was a real treat for her. We did not know they were married in the Cove. That is really neat. We will have to ask them which church. Thanks so much for watching!
Great video! I was up at Mount Pisgah campground. I also tent camp and the Ranger came along and told me I could not even leave a water jug on my table. Everything had to go into the bear box. Also informed me a precaution not to put any food in your car. They warn that property damage can happen. Bear scat everywhere and bear traps. Many sightings around the bathrooms. Posted reminders not to wash your dishes in the bathrooms. I came away with a strong impression that in order to enjoy these places, we must be vigilant on our cleanliness in order not to put these wonderful beings at risk of euthanasia. I really appreciate how you guys educate about the Bears also❤
We appreciate your comment. We do want to encourage people to educate themselves on the wildlife, and the rules of the national parks. I have not really seen bear boxes at Cades Cove, so that only leaves the option of storing the coolers in the back of our truck. I do think making a person put up a water jug, is a bit much. I haven't camped at Mount Pisgah in years. I'm guessing you stayed nice and cool up there at night?
We enjoyed your video of Labor Day weekend camping trip!!! Especially loved seeing the 🐻 bears. Shawnasi I would have been backing up also. 😄. Cades Cove tours were enjoyed by Harry and myself. ❤️❤️
Thank you for watching and for commenting! We are glad you enjoyed the video, and yes, it is always a treat to see bears. We appreciate your kind words.
@@GaryLetford You are very welcome. We are glad that you found some new places to visit there. Let us know when you go, and we hope you have a great time.
So happy y'all had a good trip and no fires. Can you imagine back in the day if they worried about fires? I wonder if they ever had any from storms and such. You can look at the churches and just about hear the old gospel hymns.🥰
Yes, that is very true. You almost feel as if you are back in time, when those were active churches, and in the evenings, it often seems like you should be hearing the singing. It would be tough to have lived back then, if there ever was a major fire.
I love Cades Cove and saw that momma bear and the 4 cubs❤…end of July in the cherry tree. I parked immediately! I camped at Elkmont. I’ve camped at Cades Cove before. Love the Smokies! I’m in Upstate Carolina.
Wow! So glad you got to see this same mother bear with her cubs. I don't think I've ever seen 4 cubs at one time. I always thought they usually birthed 2, or maybe 3, at most.
The scenery is beautiful there. I love your dogs. They are so sweet. I love all animals. The bear was awesome too. The dog is cute barking at the rain. Look at all the horses, that's amazing. I am glad you are getting rest and having fun. Thanks for showing this video with us, it takes time to do all of that. Have a blessed day. ❤❤😊
You are very welcome. Yes, this one took a lot of time editing. Originally, I had about 1 hour and 36 minutes of video footage, so I had to get rid of some of it. It is still kind of long, and we appreciate your watching the whole thing.
Pup is risking it all to protect you from the mean windshield wipers! Mom's chihuahah was the same, the wipers were a dreaded enemy!😂 The baby bears were so cute! It's definitely a beatiful place!
@saras4181 LOL...Yes, there's no telling what those wipers would have done to us over the years, had he not been there to protect us. I think he really believes that.
Looks like you & Shawnasi had a great time!!! Those bears were so cute. Loved seeing the dogs and the food you guys cooked looked really good!! I miss camping
Thank you so much for watching our camping trip. We are glad you enjoyed it, especially the meals and our dogs. We had a wonderful time, and we appreciate your comment.
@@NCMemoryMakers You're welcome!!! I enjoy every video you post. Sometimes when we go to Cades Cove we don't see anything. Looks like you had nice weather except for the rain
So glad you enjoyed the video and the scenery. We always loved going there and seeing the wildlife. Yes, it's no fun to get rain when you're camping, but they did need the rain very badly. So, it was still a blessing. We had a lot of good weather in between the rain.
Aww. So nice for you both to share your camping trip to include Cades Cove in the evening. Love it when y'all go camping, always look forward to it, don't care much for the Bear Jams, either. Thanks for taking us on your Labor Day Camping Trip.😊
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching, and we are glad you liked it. Cades Cove is a beautiful place, especially in the evening. That is our favorite time to drive through there.
Hey y’all, thanks for the compliment 😊 I wouldn’t call it gourmet, I just throw things together. Your meal looked really good! Love y’all’s setup! The bear footage was cool. We are hoping to visit Cades Cove soon. Hopefully we will get to see some cool things as well. Thanks for the mention and for another great video!
You cook up some pretty amazing stuff in the campground. I think I made the comment, that we were kind of ashamed to show ours after seeing how y'all eat...LOL.
@@NCMemoryMakers thank you. Your food looked delicious! We are going to Cades Cove in November. Do you recommend certain sites? I think I heard you say y’all book the same site every time.
@HairesLastResortAdventures We always book site C-36. I'm not saying it's the best one in there, but it's just the one that we have become accustomed to. It's been so long since we've gotten any other site, I don't really remember much about them. We did a walk-through of the campground a couple years ago, showing as many sites as we possibly could. I will post a link for that below.
We use an air mattress in a similar-sized tent like y'all -- we also pack a couple of rubber mats (you know the kind with the puzzle edges so you can link them together) and place them on the ground so that when you get up or down for the mattress the ground is so much easier on your knees. -- I like these - google - Walmart - then FlooringInc 8mm Rubber Interlocking - they sell a 4 pack that would be enough.
Yall are doing good We gave up tent camping a long time ago We have a cargo trailer that we converted to a camper. It is nice to be able to have a regular bed and to be able to leave all of the camping supplies organized inside
@cindalong3926 We have talked about getting a cargo trailer, for that very reason...leaving the camping supplies in it. I still want to tent camp for as long as we are able. I just feel more like I'm outdoors like that
I get it. One of us is a sissy (me). I have back issues and the air mattress thing doesn’t work AND it is a lot of work packing and unpacking. We have a sink and a refrigerator in ours too. We use a Husky rolling toolbox to store our pots and pans, silverware.etc. We spend all of our time outside except for when it’s pouring rain and when we sleep. I’m glad y’all enjoyed your trip. We are also in the process of building a squaredrop camper to pull behind the Jeep. More or less a bed on wheels with a galley kitchen in the back. We shall see how that works out for our old bodies
I loved, loved, loved this video. Beautiful photography of one of God's amazing creations. Thank you for taking us along with you. We really appreciate the way you tell of your love for the Lord and share the gospel. By the way, would Shawnasi share her recipe for the grilled zucchini?
And we appreciate your kind and encouraging words, as well. As for the zucchini...We basically just slice it fairly thin, spray it with olive oil, and season it. We use the Cajun Injector Brand Hickory Grill seasoning (we got it from Bass Pro), which unfortunately, has been discontinued. Not sure what we will switch to after our supply is gone, but I'm sure we will find something. Glad you enjoyed the video and the photography. Thanks for watching!
Really nice video brings back memories of my visits there over the years. It takes a strong person to publicly admit they put the bike helmet on backwards!
LOL...Yes, that was a good natured laugh we all had. She had never actually owned a bicycle helmet before, and I actually didn't notice it, either. If not for the lady who rode with her, well, she might never have known. Thanks for watching, and we are glad it brought back some memories for you.
Always enjoy your Cases Cove camping videos. We just put new brakes and rotors on our van in preparation for going to TN in a couple weeks. My husband was afraid of getting there and what happened to your truck happening to us.
Grew up Camping in Cades Cove at 4 years old in 1959. There is a little bit of sad history of Cades Cove. Some families sold their land willingly. Others did not. Oliver, descendant of Cades Cove's first settler, could fight no longer. He accepted his fate and abandoned his home in Cades Cove on Christmas Day 1937. He was one of Cades Cove's last residents. Kermit and Lois Caughron were the very last residents of Cades Cove until Kermit died in 1999.
@jakethebarber1 Yes, we knew we were going to need it, because of the forecast of rain possibility over all 3 days. We didn't want to have to put it up once the rain started. Wanted to be prepared.
@KathyWalters-ol8mh I'm sure it is. I have not been. I actually had a deposit down to go with a group of preachers, before I was married. I ended up not going.
I actually just checked them...LOL. I haven't driven the truck since we got home on Monday. From what I can tell, they're fine. But I guess I'm doing a brake job tomorrow. Thanks for asking.
I started eating burnt popcorn when I was pregnant with my second son.. he loves his food more of the burnt… my doctor said many people crave burnt foods and it’s normally a vitamin deficiency….
Surely I don't have a vitamin deficiency. My diet includes a lot of vitamins, lots of garden vegetables, plenty of fruit, and supplements. Gotta be something else. I've always been like that. It isn't something recent. I'm just a bit strange, I guess. I like the burnt and crispy texture.
@@NCMemoryMakers I love veggies but my body doesn’t absorb vitamins like a normal person… He said As we age, lean body mass and metabolic rate decrease. In turn, the body no longer effectively absorbs certain minerals and vitamins… I never struggled with vitamins until in my late 40’s. I was put on vitamin d 30,000mg for 2 days a week and 10,000 the rest of the week for 3 months and it never even came up..
@@MamaS1990 I'm sure that's the case, as we age. I'm just saying that I don't think that is the reason I like burnt food, since I pretty much always have.
I was reading on that. I am not sure how tall Mr. Oliver was, to be honest. But what I read, is that cabins at that time were typically built that way, to minimize heat loss.
Help me with this cades cove question. Important to me. Anyone please try to help me. I went there in 1978 on my honeymoon. Took a picture of a tree in middle of a field with mountains behind it. It was fall and the tree was beautiful. I enlarged it. I have went back several times and always saw " our tree". I am sick now. I don't know if I'll ever get back there. Could you please look for this tree for me. I'm going to try to include today my 1978 picture if I can figure how to put it on here. If I remember there is a fence around the field. My husband and I would love to see our tree again. If only to know it has survived all these years. Like our love. I hope it's still standing. One day I pray I can go back. I live in SC now. But can't hardly walk now. I love Cades Cove more than any place ever I could go. If ever the chance again. Thank you all who looks for me. My name is Sheila.
@sheilacarpenter6082 There are a couple of trees that fit this description. Do you happen to remember if this particular tree would have been a large one, with a small fence around it? And a little small cemetery next to it? There is one that fits that description, that people simply call "the tree". I doubt you'll be able to post a picture in the comments, so I'm going to give you our email. If you want to send us a picture of the tree you're talking about, we will try to help you. NCMemoryMakers1300@gmail.com I'm also going to add our email to the description under this video.
As of this year, it is $25 per night. Considering the close access to the Cove, we feel it is well worth it. We love tent camping, as well. Thanks for watching!
I am unable to post a picture in the comments section on here. Let me see if I can find a link that will show it. If not, you can email us, and we can reply with a picture of it. Most of the songs on it, seem to make you feel that you are back in the days when people lived there. The music you heard in this video, is not from that CD. That CD is copyrighted music, so we can't use it in our videos. But let me see if I can find a link.
Here it is...I found it quickly. This TH-cam link actually allows you to listen to it, to decide if you like it. th-cam.com/video/zyrA4VHv7p0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=v8BQKjSso9DMsDxk
Derrick, regarding the people who "lose their mind" when they see a bear, think of something my late grandfather (1884-1973) used to say, "Tis better to have had a mind and lost it. Than, to have never had a mind at all." If you think getting to go camping in Cades Cove yearly is a Blessing, think about this: When you see the number of people standing around our Lord Jesus who are there because of something that you said or did that God's Holy Spirit was able to use to bring them to Salvation. That's a serious Blessing. Now, think for a minute yet again. Consider the people brought to Christ because of those people? You are a gifted shepherd of Christ's Flock. The last ten minutes of this video were the most valuable. But, I'm prejudiced. Once again, great videography with the nature scenes and the music choices. Have you ever thought about teaching a workshop? PSE keep with the quality videos like this. That means, keep testifying and witnessing! God Bless!
Thank you for your kind words, and that was a great analogy, about standing before Christ. What I was referring to with that guy, about losing his mind, is that he's looking up into the tree at the bear, and just starts backing up into the road right in front of us. Had I been looking up into the tree while I was driving, and not watching ahead of me, I probably would have hit him. Even though I wasn't going but maybe 2 miles per hour, it still could have hurt him. I actually had to yell "Sir, watch out!", out her window. He totally lost concept that he was standing beside a road.
That is very sad. I think you are correct, that there were several outbreaks of various things there. There is a very heartbreaking number of young people, including infants, in the cemeteries there.
I have someone who’s very special to me who watches your videos faithfully and I’m almost certain they’re lost. You have no idea how the little ways you point to Christ could be working on their heart. Thank you!

Such a beautiful place. Thanks for sharing. Hope you guys had a wonderful time.
We did. Hope you had a great weekend, as well. Thanks for watching!
Beautiful video!!! ❤❤❤
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for posting a camping video from the National Park!😊
You're very welcome!
Wow so awesome seeing the bears. 🥰🥰
Yes, that's always the highlight of the trip to Cades Cove.
Thank you for this video, I learned some new places in Cades Cove to visit.
Enjoy your holiday Labor Day and camping 🏕️ ❤
Thank you so much! We hope you had a great weekend, as well.
What are wonderful video. Thanks for taking us along your camping trip😊
So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Nice camping trip. Thx 😊
You are very welcome! Thanks for watching!
AMEN, FOLK'S.... AND GREAT MEMORIES FRUM MY BELOVED. TENNESSEE....❤😊
We are so glad that you enjoyed the video, and that it brought back memories for you from your time in Tennessee.
love all yalls videos
Thank you! We appreciate that so much!
Hope the both of you and your pets are having fun
We did. We're back home now. Thanks for watching.
That was a GREAT video! Thoroughly enjoyed the wildlife and scenery. It's a shame you had so much rain.
So glad you enjoyed the video and the scenery. We always loved going there and seeing the wildlife.
Yes, it's no fun to get rain when you're camping, but they did need the rain very badly. So, it was still a blessing. We had a lot of good weather in between the rain.
Looks like a very good meal.
Thank you very much. Food always seems to taste better in the campground.
@@NCMemoryMakers Thank you for sharing God's words, always like you both to include some sharing of his words🙂

@@NCMemoryMakers thank you 😊 Have a great weekend!
@Woody.D828 Thank you for watching, and for the suggestion.
Yay! I guess the rain took care of the fires!
I haven't heard much about the fires since we've been home. The rain on Sunday night, should have really helped.
Y’all make a lot of friends
@smoky_mountain_treasure_hunter Yes, we really have, ever since starting TH-cam.
I see the A1 advertisement during after supper clean up and got tickled. 😂😂😂😂
@@pinkyswearzadventures Absolutely. That's the way I love my steaks.
Every time I'm up there.
I'll see bears there's.
@michaelpardue2400 It's sure a great place to see bears.
Always enjoy your Cases Cove camping videos. We just put new brakes and rotors on our van in preparation for going to TN in a couple weeks. My husband was afraid of getting there and what happened to your truck happening to us.
Probably a good idea. I wouldn't want what happened to us, to happen to anybody else. Being in the mountains is a bad time for that to happen.
@katheedenny9636 Yes, that is true. I still remember when his house was still standing, just past the Dan Lawson place.
Y'all need a Coleman Lantern 17R.
No more air mattress. God bless you always 🙏
@billramsey7455 Thank you, but like I mentioned before, we actually prefer camping in a tent.
God bless you, as well.
Holy cow it did rain on ya'll lol good call on the rain fly..most people dont use them when putting up a tent and in my opinion its a necessity
@jakethebarber1 Yes, we knew we were going to need it, because of the forecast of rain possibility over all 3 days. We didn't want to have to put it up once the rain started. Wanted to be prepared.
Have you ever been to Israel? I have been 12 times since 2000. Life-changing! Love your videos.
@KathyWalters-ol8mh I'm sure it is. I have not been.
I actually had a deposit down to go with a group of preachers, before I was married. I ended up not going.
It’s pretty where you are at
Yes, very beautiful. We enjoyed our time there.
nice
Thank you for watching!
Excellent video! May the Lord bless you both. How was your rotors? Hope they were ok
I actually just checked them...LOL. I haven't driven the truck since we got home on Monday.
From what I can tell, they're fine. But I guess I'm doing a brake job tomorrow.
Thanks for asking.
@@NCMemoryMakers you’re welcome brother, did y’all find anything out about the cemetery on the side of the road?
People were smaller back then.
One more important thing. This tree stands all alone in the field.
NCMemoryMakers1300@gmail.com
I'm also going to add our email to the description under this video.
I love tent camping. My husband, not so much he wants a RV… Lol… is it expensive to camp here?
As of this year, it is $25 per night. Considering the close access to the Cove, we feel it is well worth it. We love tent camping, as well.
Thanks for watching!
Yorkie's are so funny. Mine is 12 years old.
Yes, they certainly are something else. We love having them.
Can you show the CD that you play while driving through Cades Cove? When I search, I find many and would like to get the same one you have. Thanks.

Looks like tent only. Is that correct?
We only camp in a tent, but other people do bring campers and RVs.
Derrick, regarding the people who "lose their mind" when they see a bear, think of something my late grandfather (1884-1973) used to say, "Tis better to have had a mind and lost it. Than, to have never had a mind at all."
If you think getting to go camping in Cades Cove yearly is a Blessing, think about this: When you see the number of people standing around our Lord Jesus who are there because of something that you said or did that God's Holy Spirit was able to use to bring them to Salvation.
I think typhoid happened there also yellow fever and cholera it killed many children.
That is very sad. I think you are correct, that there were several outbreaks of various things there. There is a very heartbreaking number of young people, including infants, in the cemeteries there.
@@NCMemoryMakers we always thought about that too.
