When a call comes in from the Cook County jail, the squad steps into a volatile predicament and are tasked with trying to defuse an escalating situation. Shay (Lauren German) remains hopeful about her baby dreams and Hermann’s (David Eigenberg) wife Cindy (guest star Robyn Coffin) goes into labor with their fifth child. Meanwhile, Mills (Charlie Barnett) and Dawson (Monica Raymund) face key decisions in their personal lives. Taylor Kinney, Jesse Spencer and Eamonn Walker also star.

I just want to say I used to work in a UK prison (one that was also not a super high category) and we were not allowed to open a door without at least 3 officers in attendance and would never had left only 1 (or even worse 0) with outside people in a locked room. Now I realise that this is a US prison and therefore things may be different there but this would be highly unlikely. I feel like it goes without saying you also wouldn’t leave them in the same room as a fire, other areas of the prison that were not affected probably, but not the actual location

I think in the past, during prision riots, the sprinkler systems were deliberately set off to create mass flooding, shortening out a lot of electrical systems.
So hence why they did shut them off, just is case the door entry systems get fried, with no way in ... or out ... to say nothing about the lighting save the emergency back up ...
But if the smoke gets too thick ...
