Yes, it’s very reminiscent of footage from Lower Manhattan on September 11th. Sirens blaring from all around, coming & going; radios chirping & crackling; booming & banging as beams buckle then break; windows smashing, shit exploding, shit falling out of the sky; bodies raining down; people screaming, running to & fro; Cops, Paramedics, & Firemen coming from every which way; helicopter blades chopping above. All a similar cacophony of chaos, being even more intense, for unfortunately it was not just a television show.
Could have done without the cliche “we’re here to help you so put the gun down” notion. Like it’s a school shooting people are already dead and they’ve been shooting back at you and your partner. The chances that they’re just going to give up quietly at this point is extremely unlikely lol
the tracking shots, the blood effects, the garbled English on the police radios, the panic in a cop's voice. this is how you make real impacts on a lower budget show
Scenes like this should make you realise that police officers actually go through this and not just Act it, you get the peace of mind that everyone and everything, all shots and all blood is fake. Thats not what you get in a real situation, everything is real. Being a police officer is incredibly mentally draining.
I recall the responders from the Pulse Nightclub shooting mentioning that the worst/saddest thing about being on the scene right after a shooting are all the cell phones constantly going off on the dead bodies from people trying to make sure their loved ones are okay.
That was fucking sad, and the fact this happened irl is even more fucking sad and all of the kids didnt even got a chance to be their dream job, and their moms are probably crying after they heared that their one or fav son got killed bc of this
"Put the gun down you're surrounded" was said legitimately like 7 times and the guy just casually walked into the next room and escaped into a whole additional labyrinth.
The anti-climatic ending was perfect. There's no round of applause and dramatic music as he "saves the day". Just the realization that it's over and the magnitude of what happened. In situations like this, those cops don't go home feeling like heroes. They go home knowing they will never be the same, and not in a good way
Yeah for real. No heroes or victory whatsoever in this situation. I mean yeah it’s great that they got the guy, but the aftermath of trauma and eternal sadness of something so devastating will haunt everyone forever. I absolutely couldn’t fathom being in this situation, can’t imagine how terrifying that must be.

I like how the police are depicted accurately by being scared of the situation but still doing the job. Too many cops in too many shows/movies are billy badass with no realistic human emotion. That isn’t the case with this scene, that’s what makes the scene captivating
No matter how cliche some of the lines are, the fact that almost all the cops seem very scared of going in the school is super realistic, and I like that. Pretty good work here.
They convey the fear but also the confusion. They don’t know the layout of the school, they don’t know how many shooters, barely what the shooter looks like, what he has in his arsenal etc. Which of course adds to the fear. This was very well done, almost to well done. It was hard to watch.
I hope people appreciate just how hard it is to pull off a 12 minute SINGLE TAKE scene. Most shows and films do scenes in dozens of 5-10 second takes and then stitch them all together to make a seamless run. This was 12 minutes of everyone on set working as one machine. Absolutely amazing camerawork, directing and acting. This is probably the most realistic depiction of an active shooter scenario in any drama I’ve ever seen in my life. No cheesy action music, no glorious super hero cops, just honest and gut wrenchingly realistic. You can almost feel the adrenaline.
This gotta be the most complex school layout ever. My school was legit one long ass hallway with smaller hallways shooting off to the sides for each subject
Jesus christ this was terrifying. The gunshots literally had me jumping in my seat. They nailed both the visuals and the sound design. No music. No unrealistic gun sounds. Just raw terror.

This kid wit the headphones around the 16:20 ish mark really pissed me off. The whole shooting scene was great but the fucking clueless kid with headphones. How does that work? he avoided all the places that were affected by the gunshots or somthing? The headphones might have blocked out the gunshots, but I am sure he heard screaming...

This scene seems to be based in the early 2000s ( 1999-2004ish ) so i dont think bro has the sound canceling headset. Just being picky tho I think this scene did school shootings much better than most Hollywood. I am glad they did not chuck a music track over this as well.

Yeah and what little music that was there only made it better, this scene was done absolutely phenomenally, the only issue I see is that some of the cover the shooter used could’ve easily been penetrated by the 9mm that those officers had same with the cover the officers had

Yes the quality is way too high. It's realistic to that extend. Music is used correctly. The operative was depicted to a certain degree of accuracy where many units where barring the area simultaneously. It's not about how big is your budget but how good is your script writer, your writers and the director. That makes the true difference.
To think these actors can perform such realistic scenes like these and then turn around and do a show like Letterkenny is nothing short of amazing talent.
The acting really is great, but whoever put this scene together is smoking some gnarly shit. That shooter would have been dead a dozen times over in the USA or Canada.
This is eerily realistic. For those who don’t understand why the show depicts the officers not helping out injured kids once they get to them, here’s why: the number one rule in combat medicine is that the best form of medicine is fire superiority. You have to neutralize/suppress the threat before you can render any aid, or else you could become yet another casualty. This scene accurately depicts the very, very difficult decision of having to walk past bleeding out victims in order to actively engage the shooter and bring the threat down, that way first responders can safely begin rendering medical aid. Nobody ever wants to have to be in this situation, yet this is a day to day reality for first responders/military personnel in active combat zones. God bless those who do this for a living.
Correct. This is standard police training when it comes to active shooter threats. Active shooter threats are handled the complete opposite of a barricaded subject or a hostage situation (where time is the ally of the officer).
In this show the officers could have easily taken multiple shots that would have prevented multiple students deaths. It's like they don't trust their aim from 10 meters, which is appalling as that is extremely close for combat.
Yeah but my question is why does nobody have at least a shotgun or a assault rifle this an activer shooter with an AR you are going to need a bigger weapon for a bigger caliber for things like this. "where are you?" "i dont fucking know!" really shows how terrifying this is. the only officer who would know the layout of the school is the resource officer, which I don't think they have in Canada.
My school had like 2000 students and we never had one, at least not that I know of. Although our school layout was very easy to navigate so I don’t think we would of needed one lol
What I love the most about this is the fact the officers, who are trained to do this, are obviously panicked and terrified of a few teenagers with guns. Anything could happen, to them or to the students inside. They breathe hard, reassure themselves, and move cautiously. Despite their fear, they move in no matter what. Bravery isn’t men just being stoic, but also being very scared yet still doing their jobs.

When my school got hit the cop didnt even leave the break room. Football coach cornered the shooter, and they fired him for it. Including hush money so they could report 0 violent incedents for the year.
I don’t normally comment on TH-cam videos but the kid laying down at the entrance of the auditorium at 9:47 is me!! I sat there for 13 hours straight, no joke! Truly one of the coolest / scariest thing I’ve been apart of in my life. Not going to lie, the echo of the shots in the auditorium had my head buzzing by the end of the day… but what a day it was! It truly put me into the unfortunate perspective of what real life school shootings look / sound like. Absolute terror all around. Shooting this scene in one shot took us all day, 28 min is a longgg time without any interruptions!! For the people who are curious, this was filmed in Montreal, Québec :) ! I’m sure it’s been said several times but for anyone wanting to know why they very rarely stopped to render aid, as a law enforcement officer, in a situation with an active shooter, we’re trained that regardless of the casualties, our #1 goal is to neutralize the threat. We are not to stop and render aid for anyone as long as there is actively a threat present. The scene where the officer picks the girl up and takes her outside is a completely rare event. He did what some would do. He saved a life. Absolutely amazing job by the directors while making this scene. Absolutely incredible.
Which is the saddest part of all of this to me. Not the fact that they don't stop but the fact that most of the cops didn't do anything to stop the threat. Most waited outside or just disappeared, the two main guys so many chances to end the threat but didn't because they either didn't shoot or took to long

THAT is a lot of generalization. It's ONLY valid for the FIRST on-scene officers or whatever the assault team is made of. It's a procedure that the police calls "Rapid Deployment" in the USA. And it's a lot like in the infantry. You move on and let the follow on support take care of the wounded. EVEN if the threat is STILL active, you just secure zones or areas and keep on pushing. The support personnel just follow into the cleared zones and starts evacuating and treating the casualties. Waiting until the event is over before taking care of the casualties when the event is NOT happening in cleared areas would be criminal negligence. You need to be OBJECTIVE about these things. It's NOT all ON and OFF switches in life. There are IN-BETWEENS!!!

This is how you write, direct, edit, and act a scene in a way that's perfect. Close to no music or jump cuts to take you out of it. It isn't real, yet it's absolutely terrifying and gut-wrenching. I seriously hope this show won awards
I know it sounds bad, but this is the kind of stuff that actually makes an impact on people. You can play videos all you want about an attacker who doesn't seriously fight back, but the blood, chaos, and fear make this more impactful than actual in-school warnings.
They nailed the incompetence of police as well lol. No once can prepare for this but making police train longer than 6 months would certainly help, in my opinion.
@@ReaperOnRepo Incompetence? Training is much different from actual gunfire from an actual gun. No one ever knows how someone will actually react when in these kind of situations, no matter how much training you receive. Simply because you feel you'd do a lot better does not mean you really will.
@@ReaperOnRepo from what I know, at least with Canadian police forces like RCMP, public shooters are really the only scenario where law enforcement are told there lives are secondary, they are told don’t take cover, if you see something like a pipe bomb on the floor you just run over it and pray it doesn’t explode, they won’t stop for injured people, and if it take an entire detachment of officers to die to eliminate the threat (whether it is killing them or an arrest) then that is what it will take. From the get go they are told what is at stake, most officers in training will understand what it means when “your life is a secondary priority”, soldiers who switched to police have even said it’s more intense than any training they go through (maybe except for soldiers who went through special forces training), so at least for RCMP by the time they get to the school or building or wherever the shooter is it will be over in minutes, and honestly once the shooter knows the police are there they will end up killing themselves.
That, and also the possibility of another student running up on them and taking a snapshot with their phone. Sharing it to the web. False positives/accusations are potentially life-ruining enough, but with unaltered photographic 'evidence' (lacking context) that can readily back up such a claim?
For those who attend school, don’t expect cops to stop if you are injured. They don’t stop, their focus is to stop the shooter(s). If you can get out, get out. Stay strong & stay safe everyone.

Neat thing is all the other officers follow this doctrine of finding the shooter first save one. The officer who saved the girl, JM, is made fun of by his other buddies for being a pussy and crumbling under pressure, so his ignoring of this actually coincides with his character arch in the show. Good show for anyone who hasn't seen it yet!
Active Shooter Training Rule #1 for LE. Stop/Kill the shooter. #2. Determine if more shooters present or any devices planted. Once those are met, THEN we provide first aid.
My school thought it was a smart idea to have a fake school shooting situation, without telling any of the staff members. We went on to lockdown and everybody around me was crying. We all thought people that we knew were going to die, people were texting their parents and trying to check local news outlets. My school later had to apologize for the incident and send a letter home to parents about it. It was such a scary situation I just can’t even begin to imagine how scary it is for it to be real.
Whoever wrote this deserves an Emmy. The fact you get to know the characters, and care about them, even though there's not a lot of dialog and it's a dramatic action scene, is incredible. Great direction, acting on all parts too.
Wow, all this in a single shot without cuts is incredible, all the effort and all the organization from the director is simply on another level. Very good work.
10/10 acting and 10/10 cameraworks. Almost no cuts at all at this scene, really made us the viewers feel the tension and terrifying situations. Simply amazing.
The screaming and shooting were all that's needed to intensify this situation. The camera movement made it all look as if you were actually there. That's why this felt so real.
I have a lot of respect for everybody who worked on this entire sequence. It must have taken so long and could not have been easy for anyone, especially for all the actors who had the responsibility of portraying a situation like this as realistically as possible. Every single crew member and actor deserve high praise for the fantastic job they did here.

Oh my god the amount of chills I got at 16:00 when the officer ran after the kid with the headphones on to save him and all you hear is the humming of the hallway and nothing else....most amazing scenery and acting I’ve ever seen
The ending when he shakily turns on the radio again and announces the death of the killer, has to be one of my favorite scenes. Cause they don't rejoice and don't cheer like some 80s superman film. He still has the trauma fresh in his mind and knowing the cleanup that comes after and everything, he knows the job is far from done. The horror he has witnessed must be one of the worst. Such a heartbreaking moment.
And the second fact that even though the kid/shooter did something unspeakable, you feel both the utmost hatred and sympathy for him. You can’t ever truly tell if someone is just truly evil or something happened that rocked his core enough to do this.
The fact they pulled this off *twice*, once in the french version and a second time in the english version, is simply incredible. The first 12 minute shot is actually done in one single take, at least according to many who worked on the set. Took several attempts to get it right.

They weren't that good in my opinion. They carry themselves in the cherry-picked police fashion that a lot of shows like to capture. It's mainstream acting. I wish we could see some realistic acting but I understand part of the appeal for all media in general is drama. Being realistic can often be boring.

The "I don't fucking know" is one of the reasons that active shooter responder drills started doing training in high-risk buildings, instead of in their home ground or at 3rd party, non-related training sites. So that the responders who trained in those buildings could guide the ones that didn't around.

Growing up in the 80s, everyone was coming to grips with serial killers. It was a time when you could no longer leave your door unlocked or hitchhike or talk to strangers. But never could anyone comprehend the idea of school shooters. 24 years after Columbine, I think the school shooter is here to stay, just like the serial killer. Who knows what it will be in another 20 years.

Even knowing there’s most likely plenty of hidden cuts, the way they tied it all together into one seemingly continuous shot, 1917 style, was incredible. Seeing the police obviously scared but never hesitating to go in the school damn near brought a tear to my eye. It's coming out now that the police failed MASSIVELY during the elementary school shooting in Uvalde, Texas this week. Shit is unbelievable.
This was one of the most realistic, terrifying, and emotional scenes I have ever watched. To have never seen this show and just randomly stumbled upon this while scrolling through TH-cam and then instantly being hooked feeling so much emotion was absolutely incredible.
Terrifying, but not so realistic. I wish these frickin arsehole parents, that are threatening school board members, cared as much about school shootings, as they do about a little surgical mask mandate. But Freedumb and stuff.
This just came to my feed randomly as I’m spending the day home due to high fever and strong body aches and what an amazing piece. I haven’t felt this immersed in something in years.
The way there are almost no jump cuts through this scene is just chilling, as well as the way they deliberately only have shots pop off when they are *not* in view. It puts you right there. Very immersive cinematography.
As someone who has never seen the show, this to me is like some sort of short film. No outside context, just this isolated story. And for some reason, that made it so much better. Being able to learn the names of the characters that I even learn of makes it feel as if I’m watching this from start to end. This is event is major. It’s a singularity. That’s the feeling I get with watching this without context. And damn is it ever good.
Its not watering down the plot for maximum audience appeal, or shoving useless melodrama into the script for filler screen time. It also isn't treating it's audience like a bunch of toddlers that require narrative spoon feeding. Some good TV right here.
I came across this randomly, I've never seen the show, but WOW this scene is masterfully shot. It brilliantly captures emotion, physical pain, fear, panic, uncertainty... I am amazed. It really puts you in the moment.
This cinematography is nothing short of phenomenal. No music, no excess details, nothing that can distract you. Just footsteps, gunshots, lights buzzing, sirens and screams of pure anguish. There is not a single police officer with an ounce of Hollywood in them, no hard-core badass cops, and it's perfect. Never seen a more accurate portrayal of an event of this magnitude. It perfectly represents how things can go on the field, and that sometimes, there is no way to save everyone.
I like how they don’t really show where the shooter is except for like one second because it puts you in a perspective of the people that are just as clueless as us
Also, one more thing: I love how realistic the confusion is at the beginning, with no one clear whether there’s multiple shooters or where they are. That is INCREDIBLY common in shootings. I mean people are just relaxed, not paying attention to their surroundings one day and then suddenly plunged into a state of intense panic - it ends up being really hard to tell what’s going on, and that’s why you get conflicting accounts. That’s one reason I’m so hesitant to believe conspiracy theories that involve “multiple shooters” (for instance, with JFK assassinaton).
I can't imagine how cops irl must feel every time they see innocent people getting killed in front of them. That last girl who got shot, and the white cop bowed his head down in disappointment is incredibly accurate, and I imagine many cops do that in these cases. Amazing acting, amazing camera work. Phenomenal.

This is the most realistic depiction of a school shooting I have ever seen. It felt like I was really there, there was no music, no exaggerated moments... just pure terror. It sickens me to think that people actually have to experience things like this. I've never watched this show before, but this was incredible. The acting, the long one-shot scenes, the fact that this was a one-take. I was speechless after watching this.
This is truly one of the greatest scenes ever shot on film and also one of the most horrifying…The director held nothing back when he decided to not only show dead teenagers lying everywhere with pools of blood but to also include the sheer realism of the screaming.

Props to the show for actually having the balls to film this scene. Not a lot of directors have what it takes to do this due to societal reasons. But this depicts the reality of a lot of situations and what any form of combat personnel has to go through.
Well they got away with it by having the man cop freeze up and the woman took action, thereby saving the day. You can get away with anything if you pander to feminists enough.
Can we forget the one-liners and memes for a second and appreciate these scenes. The long continuous shots are so impressive, Scorsese would applaud them. And the choreography that goes into all these scenes is unbelievable. All the extras (kids) doing everything in perfect synchronization especially. This is the most real-feeling shooting scene I’ve ever seen in any sort of cinema.
Thinking about all the kids and the acting, and how close this hits, I’m wondering if there was a counselor on site. This would have been intense to film.
Props to the people that put this together. Never have I ever felt like I was ACTUALLY in a movie scene. That’s an incredible amount of skill to be able to do that. Not saying I’m an expert, but this is nowhere near the first time I’ve seen a scene like this.

This is true drama. True fear. This is what actually happens in a school shooting. How officers respond, how officers have to deal with ethical choices, how officers have to deal with emotions and fear running high. Props to 19-2 for this.

Fun fact, this is an English adaptation of a French language show. In both shows, they depicted this scene at the exact same school set. Watch the comparison of the scenes and it’s crazy how close they are in laying out the shots

The show's production company then remade the show, still set in Montreal but with english speaking actors. Some actors appear in both shows as different characters but Benz Antoine plays major character Tyler in both (he's the black cop that gets injured in this episode). The producers brought back original director Podz to direct the english version of the school shooting episode that premieres the second season.
watching this after the Uvalde shooting, this felt so real and what those kids went through must’ve been incredibly terrifying. it had to have given them unimaginable amounts of trauma. i am praying for them
I was about to say the same thing those poor babies. This alone was hard to watch so just imagine the real shooting that actually did take place. Just awful. This is so sad to think those babies were innocent and defenseless. Breaks my heart. These shootings have to STOP this isn’t right.
This happens every week in America. 27 school shootings since the start of 2022. There are 26 weeks in half a year which averages one school shooting per week.
You think the swat can be there in 2 minutes. We have 1 team of swat for all of montreal island. A metropol with alot of car jasmin The swat is not usefull in a active shooter scénario. And its proven.
The fact it was a one shot scene makes it even more intense. Watching it really makes you feel like you’re in the school, scared for your life. This show is very impressive and really well made.

@Cryptix Were you paying attention? That one cop who got scared risked his life to carry out that student who was still alive. They checked many of the others for vital signs, and probably left the dead where they lay because neutralizing the shooter had priority. The shooter had already demonstrated he was willing to shoot anyone in his line of sight.
I'm so glad they didn't add unnecessary music. The lights buzzing, foot steps and sirens are the best at keeping up the tension.

All a similar cacophony of chaos, being even more intense, for unfortunately it was not just a television show.
Could have done without the cliche “we’re here to help you so put the gun down” notion. Like it’s a school shooting people are already dead and they’ve been shooting back at you and your partner. The chances that they’re just going to give up quietly at this point is extremely unlikely lol

Scenes like this should make you realise that police officers actually go through this and not just Act it, you get the peace of mind that everyone and everything, all shots and all blood is fake. Thats not what you get in a real situation, everything is real. Being a police officer is incredibly mentally draining.

I recall the responders from the Pulse Nightclub shooting mentioning that the worst/saddest thing about being on the scene right after a shooting are all the cell phones constantly going off on the dead bodies from people trying to make sure their loved ones are okay.

The anti-climatic ending was perfect. There's no round of applause and dramatic music as he "saves the day". Just the realization that it's over and the magnitude of what happened. In situations like this, those cops don't go home feeling like heroes. They go home knowing they will never be the same, and not in a good way

I like how the police are depicted accurately by being scared of the situation but still doing the job. Too many cops in too many shows/movies are billy badass with no realistic human emotion. That isn’t the case with this scene, that’s what makes the scene captivating

They convey the fear but also the confusion. They don’t know the layout of the school, they don’t know how many shooters, barely what the shooter looks like, what he has in his arsenal etc. Which of course adds to the fear. This was very well done, almost to well done. It was hard to watch.
I hope people appreciate just how hard it is to pull off a 12 minute SINGLE TAKE scene. Most shows and films do scenes in dozens of 5-10 second takes and then stitch them all together to make a seamless run. This was 12 minutes of everyone on set working as one machine. Absolutely amazing camerawork, directing and acting.
This is probably the most realistic depiction of an active shooter scenario in any drama I’ve ever seen in my life. No cheesy action music, no glorious super hero cops, just honest and gut wrenchingly realistic. You can almost feel the adrenaline.

Yes the quality is way too high. It's realistic to that extend. Music is used correctly. The operative was depicted to a certain degree of accuracy where many units where barring the area simultaneously.
It's not about how big is your budget but how good is your script writer, your writers and the director. That makes the true difference.

The acting really is great, but whoever put this scene together is smoking some gnarly shit. That shooter would have been dead a dozen times over in the USA or Canada.
This is eerily realistic. For those who don’t understand why the show depicts the officers not helping out injured kids once they get to them, here’s why: the number one rule in combat medicine is that the best form of medicine is fire superiority. You have to neutralize/suppress the threat before you can render any aid, or else you could become yet another casualty.
This scene accurately depicts the very, very difficult decision of having to walk past bleeding out victims in order to actively engage the shooter and bring the threat down, that way first responders can safely begin rendering medical aid. Nobody ever wants to have to be in this situation, yet this is a day to day reality for first responders/military personnel in active combat zones. God bless those who do this for a living.
Correct. This is standard police training when it comes to active shooter threats. Active shooter threats are handled the complete opposite of a barricaded subject or a hostage situation (where time is the ally of the officer).
In this show the officers could have easily taken multiple shots that would have prevented multiple students deaths. It's like they don't trust their aim from 10 meters, which is appalling as that is extremely close for combat.

What I love the most about this is the fact the officers, who are trained to do this, are obviously panicked and terrified of a few teenagers with guns. Anything could happen, to them or to the students inside. They breathe hard, reassure themselves, and move cautiously. Despite their fear, they move in no matter what. Bravery isn’t men just being stoic, but also being very scared yet still doing their jobs.

I don’t normally comment on TH-cam videos but the kid laying down at the entrance of the auditorium at 9:47 is me!! I sat there for 13 hours straight, no joke! Truly one of the coolest / scariest thing I’ve been apart of in my life. Not going to lie, the echo of the shots in the auditorium had my head buzzing by the end of the day… but what a day it was! It truly put me into the unfortunate perspective of what real life school shootings look / sound like. Absolute terror all around. Shooting this scene in one shot took us all day, 28 min is a longgg time without any interruptions!! For the people who are curious, this was filmed in Montreal, Québec :) ! The fact that the first scene was all one shot for literally like 20 min is crazy. Good job camera man.
I’m sure it’s been said several times but for anyone wanting to know why they very rarely stopped to render aid, as a law enforcement officer, in a situation with an active shooter, we’re trained that regardless of the casualties, our #1 goal is to neutralize the threat. We are not to stop and render aid for anyone as long as there is actively a threat present. The scene where the officer picks the girl up and takes her outside is a completely rare event. He did what some would do. He saved a life. Absolutely amazing job by the directors while making this scene. Absolutely incredible.
Which is the saddest part of all of this to me. Not the fact that they don't stop but the fact that most of the cops didn't do anything to stop the threat. Most waited outside or just disappeared, the two main guys so many chances to end the threat but didn't because they either didn't shoot or took to long

THAT is a lot of generalization.
It's ONLY valid for the FIRST on-scene officers or whatever the assault team is made of. It's a procedure that the police calls "Rapid Deployment" in the USA. And it's a lot like in the infantry. You move on and let the follow on support take care of the wounded. EVEN if the threat is STILL active, you just secure zones or areas and keep on pushing. The support personnel just follow into the cleared zones and starts evacuating and treating the casualties.
Waiting until the event is over before taking care of the casualties when the event is NOT happening in cleared areas would be criminal negligence.
You need to be OBJECTIVE about these things. It's NOT all ON and OFF switches in life. There are IN-BETWEENS!!!

I know it sounds bad, but this is the kind of stuff that actually makes an impact on people. You can play videos all you want about an attacker who doesn't seriously fight back, but the blood, chaos, and fear make this more impactful than actual in-school warnings.

@@ReaperOnRepo from what I know, at least with Canadian police forces like RCMP, public shooters are really the only scenario where law enforcement are told there lives are secondary, they are told don’t take cover, if you see something like a pipe bomb on the floor you just run over it and pray it doesn’t explode, they won’t stop for injured people, and if it take an entire detachment of officers to die to eliminate the threat (whether it is killing them or an arrest) then that is what it will take. From the get go they are told what is at stake, most officers in training will understand what it means when “your life is a secondary priority”, soldiers who switched to police have even said it’s more intense than any training they go through (maybe except for soldiers who went through special forces training), so at least for RCMP by the time they get to the school or building or wherever the shooter is it will be over in minutes, and honestly once the shooter knows the police are there they will end up killing themselves.

Neat thing is all the other officers follow this doctrine of finding the shooter first save one. The officer who saved the girl, JM, is made fun of by his other buddies for being a pussy and crumbling under pressure, so his ignoring of this actually coincides with his character arch in the show. Once those are met, THEN we provide first aid.
My school thought it was a smart idea to have a fake school shooting situation, without telling any of the staff members. We went on to lockdown and everybody around me was crying. We all thought people that we knew were going to die, people were texting their parents and trying to check local news outlets. My school later had to apologize for the incident and send a letter home to parents about it. It was such a scary situation I just can’t even begin to imagine how scary it is for it to be real.

The screaming and shooting were all that's needed to intensify this situation. The camera movement made it all look as if you were actually there. That's why this felt so real.

I have a lot of respect for everybody who worked on this entire sequence. It must have taken so long and could not have been easy for anyone, especially for all the actors who had the responsibility of portraying a situation like this as realistically as possible. Every single crew member and actor deserve high praise for the fantastic job they did here.

Oh my god the amount of chills I got at 16:00 when the officer ran after the kid with the headphones on to save him and all you hear is the humming of the hallway and nothing else....most amazing scenery and acting I’ve ever seen

The ending when he shakily turns on the radio again and announces the death of the killer, has to be one of my favorite scenes. Cause they don't rejoice and don't cheer like some 80s superman film. He still has the trauma fresh in his mind and knowing the cleanup that comes after and everything, he knows the job is far from done. The horror he has witnessed must be one of the worst. Such a heartbreaking moment.
And the fact that it is a kid makes it hurt even more
And the second fact that even though the kid/shooter did something unspeakable, you feel both the utmost hatred and sympathy for him. You can’t ever truly tell if someone is just truly evil or something happened that rocked his core enough to do this.

The fact they pulled this off *twice*, once in the french version and a second time in the english version, is simply incredible. The first 12 minute shot is actually done in one single take, at least according to many who worked on the set. Took several attempts to get it right.

The "I don't fucking know" is one of the reasons that active shooter responder drills started doing training in high-risk buildings, instead of in their home ground or at 3rd party, non-related training sites. So that the responders who trained in those buildings could guide the ones that didn't around.

Growing up in the 80s, everyone was coming to grips with serial killers. It was a time when you could no longer leave your door unlocked or hitchhike or talk to strangers.
But never could anyone comprehend the idea of school shooters.
24 years after Columbine, I think the school shooter is here to stay, just like the serial killer. Who knows what it will be in another 20 years.

Even knowing there’s most likely plenty of hidden cuts, the way they tied it all together into one seemingly continuous shot, 1917 style, was incredible. It all felt so real while also never seeming to stray away from real time. No jumps ahead in time, no falling behind. Truly terrifyingly real.

This was one of the most realistic, terrifying, and emotional scenes I have ever watched. To have never seen this show and just randomly stumbled upon this while scrolling through TH-cam and then instantly being hooked feeling so much emotion was absolutely incredible.

As someone who has never seen the show, this to me is like some sort of short film. No outside context, just this isolated story.
And for some reason, that made it so much better. Being able to learn the names of the characters that I even learn of makes it feel as if I’m watching this from start to end.
This is event is major. It’s a singularity. That’s the feeling I get with watching this without context. And damn is it ever good.

This cinematography is nothing short of phenomenal. No music, no excess details, nothing that can distract you. Just footsteps, gunshots, lights buzzing, sirens and screams of pure anguish. There is not a single police officer with an ounce of Hollywood in them, no hard-core badass cops, and it's perfect. Never seen a more accurate portrayal of an event of this magnitude. It perfectly represents how things can go on the field, and that sometimes, there is no way to save everyone.
PedoWood should stay the fuck away from art as much as possible now that technology allows more quality in independant contents

Also, one more thing: I love how realistic the confusion is at the beginning, with no one clear whether there’s multiple shooters or where they are. That is INCREDIBLY common in shootings. I mean people are just relaxed, not paying attention to their surroundings one day and then suddenly plunged into a state of intense panic - it ends up being really hard to tell what’s going on, and that’s why you get conflicting accounts. That’s one reason I’m so hesitant to believe conspiracy theories that involve “multiple shooters” (for instance, with JFK assassinaton).

This is the most realistic depiction of a school shooting I have ever seen. It felt like I was really there, there was no music, no exaggerated moments... just pure terror. Can we forget the one-liners and memes for a second and appreciate these scenes. The long continuous shots are so impressive, Scorsese would applaud them. And the choreography that goes into all these scenes is unbelievable. All the extras (kids) doing everything in perfect synchronization especially. This is the most real-feeling shooting scene I’ve ever seen in any sort of cinema.
Thinking about all the kids and the acting, and how close this hits, I’m wondering if there was a counselor on site. This would have been intense to film.

The show's production company then remade the show, still set in Montreal but with english speaking actors. Some actors appear in both shows as different characters but Benz Antoine plays major character Tyler in both (he's the black cop that gets injured in this episode). The producers brought back original director Podz to direct the english version of the school shooting episode that premieres the second season.

You think the swat can be there in 2 minutes. We have 1 team of swat for all of montreal island. A metropol with alot of car jasmin
The swat is not usefull in a active shooter scénario. And its proven.

The fact it was a one shot scene makes it even more intense. Watching it really makes you feel like you’re in the school, scared for your life. This show is very impressive and really well made.

It's not a one shot scene. It cuts multiple times or even several.
How refreshing that they actually tried to save the kids instead of waiting outside.
@Cryptix Were you paying attention? That one cop who got scared risked his life to carry out that student who was still alive. They checked many of the others for vital signs, and probably left the dead where they lay because neutralizing the shooter had priority. The shooter had already demonstrated he was willing to shoot anyone in his line of sight.
