I used to avoid brake lines because of the terrible double flare tool. But the titan makes it so easy I now consider brake lines about as difficult as a master cylinder.

Great job on the inverted or double flare with stainless steel tubing. But, after doing it, creating a nice flare, why would you put the nut on backwards? “Not going to have a problem with this!” Except when you try to screw it on HEX first.
I work four bags from a tube-up tech and one day he was cussing up a storm and throwing things. I took a break and asked him what was the matter! He had old spark plugs, thread taps, lights, mirrors just everything on the bench and fender cover. He said he couldn’t get the spark plug to start in this engine. The only “New Plug” sitting there, I picked up. I said this plug? YES! I told him “Look, it has no threads”. ASE Master-Retired

This was a demo to see it the Titan could do stainless-turns a pretty good bubble and double flare.
Been there done that with a defective part-sometimes to takes an extra set of eyes or a calmed down master mechanic to see the forest for the trees.

Yes on demo. I was just surprised that no one else noticed! When flaring tube, all of use has for the nut or messed up somehow.
It’s good, I like SS, but wallet says otherwise. Porsche, Volvo, Saab & Mercedes used NiCop since the 70’s. It’s all good and should be part of maintenance inspection. Every Sunday was my day to check fluids & air on each vehicle. I guess the oldest gets that job! Kids today and most adults can’t open a hood!

@@deankay4434 Yes cars/trucks run longer but when there is a problem now-get the scan tool out, get you tube up and let the research begin because cars aren't points and carbs anymore.
And when you have to open the hood it quickly becomes a computer/sensor problem and can be a very expensive date with your car.

I have to replace a short piece of steel brake line (409 stainless I think) on my 1980 K20 truck because the pro who did my rear brakes years ago rounded of the corners off on the nut that attaches the rubber hose at the differential. I had to cut that off with a cutoff wheel so I can make a new line from there to a place inside the frame where I splice in a new piece of nickel/copper line. The copper line is easy to double crimp but I've been trying to make a double flare on old scrap line before I attempt it on the truck and I haven't been able to yet because the flare won't bend in (even slightly) like it's supposed to. I experimented with single flares until I got one that was the same diameter as the inside of the nut. When I tried to to make a single flare on the truck the flare split. I'm been using a Lisle 33200 but I may send it back to Amazon and get a Titan like your using. I'll try one more time and pull the line back 1/6" like you suggest ( I missed that when I watched the video.

I can't recall splitting a brake line-if I remember the only 'bad' flare I had was when the line slipped back in the clamshell portion of the titan. I would suggest going slow-in other words turn the die into the clamshell in very small increments so the metal has time to form and hopefully not split.
Titan tools are incredibly well made-good luck

Do you have a link for the deburring bit you have in the screw gun? Also, are you chamfering the lines at all before flaring?

I have done both with and without deburring-and haven't seen any difference in the flare.

I would pick up these to take the bur off-amzn.to/3etQLsd they are cheap-and I imagine if you don't have a set you aren't going to use them every day, so these should be fine

May not be intended to flare SS-bad for the dies/tooling as SS is harder than steel. I have found it does indeed flare it fairly well. Thanks for the watching

I searched all the tools maker's websites (except for Snap On) for stainless steel flaring tools and as far as I can tell nobody makes them anymore. A lot of Amazon's product descriptions have errors in them but it's easy to return their stuff.
