As a Kawasaki fan, that Aprilia is very tempting.
And I must say that 500 name was a big mistake. It would be perfectly OK to name it 450, as it replaces the 400.

On paper, the RS457 seems to have the upper hand against the Ninja 500 in almost every aspect, from power output and tech to chassis and brakes. However, one aspect I forgot to mention in the video is that the Ninja 500's secret weapon is its simple, proven, and reliable engine. Based on the Ninja 400, it is known for being tough and cheap to maintain, and on top of that, the Ninja 500 is backed up by a strong dealer network, after-sales service, and a wide range of options for aftermarket parts.
So, what are your thoughts? Would you choose the Ninja 500 or the RS457?

RS457 why? People are constantly complaining about reliability when 80% of us will upgrade and move up to the next one within 3 years and won’t keep the same bike for ever so why be so concerned about reliability and network to be the only deal breaker? You buy you enjoy then you sell!

I just want a ride for the commute to work and back. I have two county paved roads I can take with no police on either road. It's about an hr to my job, so my question is. Which one can sustain a nine mile stretch of 80mph+?

Kawasaki for me...the dealer network and proven reliability... only thing on the Aprilia for me is the 270 crank... Parallel 180 twins are about as exciting as a Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine HELLO KAWASAKI 😂 if only Kawasaki made this bike with a 499cc 270 twin... 😍 and they probably never will as it would drastically cut into their newly developed ZX4RR sales... Although having another bike to bridge the gap between vanilla twins and screaming inline 4's couldn't be a bad thing right?? HELLO KAWASAKI 😎

honestly, i thought the power difference would be more significant- though licence limitations create a ceiling, I suppose. I'd 100% take the ninja for the reliability and access to service shops, though that 270° crank sound is hard to pass up 😩

Everybody in this comment section is talking about the crank, disregarding the most important feature of this bike, the frame and swing-arm, it is MILES ahead of its japanese counterpart. Another thing that isnt being discussed abt the nj500 is the 4kg added during the upgrade, i wonder where it is placed as it may ruin the balance of the bike. I dont hate on kawasaki, im just saying that their low-end king(400/500) just got dethroned.
