    A few years ago I used similar process to invert a 22ft wooden boat in a suburban driveway and was keen to watch your preparations and the rollover. With the precautions you put in place this was a very safe (bold but safe) method. Congratulations.

    Nicely done, Phil. This is certainly gonna make fiberglassing the hull a lot easier. As a caveat, I'm fundamentally against such practices. A wooden hull should be all wood, but I totally understand why people do it. Way easier to maintain.

    Ah, great to see her turn over safely and well Phil! :) - I didn't actually have any concerns really, but good to see it went well! I also realised while i watched how envious i am of your covered workspace - it's a great set-up you have! Anyway, Thanks for sharing, Thanks for the multi camera filming, (great job) and i look forward to following along with Jabiru into 2024. I decided to do a 'quick caulk' and float Susanna down the river by the way. Hopefully in January. Have a great Christmas and the very best for the New year mate. Cheers!

      Good to hear from you again. I thought your idea of gaffer tape over the seams was a good idea. Maybe you should do that as wqell as the quick caulk. Can I make a comment on your videos. They look and sound great, but you dont introduce yourself. I found your name once but have fiorgotten it again. Any way great work. Keep it up. Phil

    Slow and steady wins the race said the tortoise to the hare. well I could flip you on your back and run on without a care, you'll be nothing more than a vultures snack tortoise proclaimed that puffed up hare That's no vulture ventured stout of heart it's an Eagle up on high and down he comes out of the sun to claw you in the eye. Off shot hare his dignity bared forgetting bout the race and off trotted tortoise across the line the winner and no disgrace. Easop's Artichoke 23/12/23

    Will the weight of the fiberglass change the water line of the boat, its likely something you have already allowed for. Great job so far, i prefer using gand tools when im doing work for myself, it gives the feeling of truley making something by hand. Some things i will use power tools for but it feels like cheating to me and increases the gap from a real hand made item.

      It will be weighed and CofG found when it's finished and fully up to weight. Then I can work out what the trim will be and the underwater volume. A bit tricky and a good thing to get right.

    I had a fiberglass boat inverted on a trailer quite low to the ground and it really did not make any difference. I still needed a stool to reach the centre and sat on the keel to get to even harder areas. I would suggest a temp platform to work from that you can move about and adjust the height. There will be a lot of stretched positions and long reaches that are uncomfortable and physically difficult to hold required. it will be easier to just raise it slightly and block it enough to remove the wheels. Keep in mind it is now very top heavy and will try to roll back over if given the chance. This will make lowering, raising and uprighting it very ticklish I just about had an uncontrolled uprighting by not realizing this

    • @revivingjabiru7588
      @revivingjabiru7588  ปีที่แล้ว

      That is why it was done in small controlled increments. I had the same fear of an uncontolled roll. There were times when there was a lot of pressure on either one of the two control lines.

    Will you do a traditional caulk or something to compliment the fibreglass sheathing?

    • @revivingjabiru7588
      @revivingjabiru7588  ปีที่แล้ว

      No caulking. Just glued splines on all seams and splits. It came down to the choice of a total rebuild or do what I'm doing. Cost of timber and available quality which has made me keep as much as possible in original material. Glassing the hull is really the only option for a dry boat.
