Looking good! So much prep time to ensure that the actual turning goes smoothly and quickly. Hopefully there's no drama!

Ive watched a lot of boatbuilding and restoration content and read a bunch of books, but this is the first time I've heard of someone building giant plywood wheels around a big boat to flip it over. Pretty epic, and I look forward to seeing how well it works.

It all comes down to cost. Dismantle half of the tent and rebuild twice, as well as crane hire twice. It was a lot quicker and cheaper to build the wheels. The idea is used by a lot of car body rebuilders to access difficult to get to parts of a car or truck. All good as long as it works. Here's hoping.

@@revivingjabiru7588 Best of luck, man. I am curious as to why its necessary to flip a boat like this, but I hope it all goes smoothly. I'd hate to see anything happen to Jabiru after all the work you've put into her so far. By the way, I'll be using your technique for lifting and leveling the keel on my old derelict, Maverick. When they put her down in my yard, they blocked her up so she's sitting way low at the stern. Gotta fix that.

I have to finish cleaning all the pitch off the planking on the bottom, splines in the seams and fair the hull. Next step then is to glass the hull completely. All these things are much easier with the hull upside down. Thanks for your comments. I reply appreciate the feedback. @@SavingMaverick55

i have been around wood boats my entire 70 years so i have a major soft spot for vintage wood , owned a 57 foot Chris Craft for 36 years and a few mahogany Chris Craft speed boats so when i watched the very first video i fell in love with this boat and i though , ok this will be like a million classic wood boats that will end up cut up but WOW i am so glad i was wrong about this one , i just wished i was near by to lend a a hand , nice work Mr Jabiru !!!!!

Bloody good job mate, can't wait for the next instalment. With that much effort and forethought it should be a breeze. Cheers

Great episode Phil. Chocking her up so high was anxiety inducing! The wheels look a great fit, real grand. All the best with turning her :) Merry Christmas and a happy new year!

Nothing like jacking boats to induce stomach churning levels of stress. I have to admit to raised levels of stress just watching, weird how it gets to you half way around the world and a week ? later.

    • @revivingjabiru7588

Good to have it behind me, although there is still a lot of wheel disassembly and jacking still to go.
