Besides the Christmas theme, this is actually really timely because I just got the Gruul guild kit. Neat coincidence
red/green is probably my favorite color pair. After learning the game, a Gruul dinosaur deck was the first deck I made that continues to do very well. Such a fun color pair.
My favorite as well. I love ramp and I love big stompy creatures, especially when they're extra aggressive because they're red.
As a total amateur, the red/green combination seems... Weird.
Red is all about aggression and burn, green is all about ramping and huge minions. How do they go together?

@@GigaBoost Red can provide haste to green's big, slow beaters so they give your opponents less time to react. My green red deck is all about having green piggy back off of red haste enablers, but for mana dorks instead of beaters

Ah yes Tovolar. Been waiting for a card like him since Shadows over Innistrad and built the deck as soon as the set dropped. He's definitely my favorite Gruul Commander. I'm also currently working on a Halana and Alena Counters Deck. I just love Innistrad Cards ^^

Grumgully was a fun add in my cube since he both works as an enabler for comboing with a sackrifice outlet and persist-creatures as well as just being a reasonable card for aggro decks
My dog killed my grumgully commander deck, but I have it written down so eventually I will rebuild it
Would a top 10 of creature cards that have a different color than usual (like non-green elves or non-red goblins) be something that would work as a video?
Ah, Gruul. Doesn’t have a lot of really broken or strong legendaries for edh but certainly popular nonetheless and really, I respect gruul players for the dedication.
#9 Is very powerful and if built efficiently can almost touch the fringe of cEDH
@@phelandiller4066 I used it as the commander for my dragon Tribal deck and I quickly realized how useful Radha is. Yes it's not exactly on flavor for a dragon tribal, but that ability to essentially get a 2nd chance at a land drop each turn is huge. Plus I've won sometimes just off her activated ability alone.
Thank for including edhrec on occasion. Edh isn't competitive but still can say a lot about a card's playability
I'd love to see a list like this on legendary dragons.

Time to make 6,800 Grumgully decks in EDHREC beat Tovolar. He's a favorite of mine and I'm petty.
Shoutouts to my favorite Gruul legend, my boy Hans Eriksson. A really fun commander, plus the resolution to a 28-year joke in MTG!

With your number one selection in commander also came a problem. The old transform rules from their original block where werewolves became a thing doesn’t recognize day bound night bound so if you build a deck with him, you have to keep track of two sets of transform triggers.

I just ordered two Magic the Gathering 30th Anniversary countdown kids off of tcgplayer, before about $75 each over what they costed when they sold them through scale fast. I tried ordering a few of them, but but the time I finally was able to check out with my cart, they were removed because they had been sold out already. But I found somebody local who will trade me his store championship / game day omnath promo for the secret layer chrone.mox's and a couple other cards. I have been wanting to turn the four color on that into a commander for a while now, and that is the coolest version of it to get, is the textless promo. I'm not trying to brag, because this is a trade / purchase I just made 20 minutes ago while high on mushrooms, I just wanted to State it for an addition to your comments, because I saw that you brought up the two color landfall Omnath... I'm going to bed now, but I love you your contact!
Honestly surprised to see Dragonlord Atarka and not World-Render! I have Atarka World Render as the commander of a deck I call "Xmas Dragons", becuz it's dragons-on-elves double tribal in Red/Green. Giving dragons double strike is just so potent, and she makes an excellent voltron commander.
Being a Gruul player is like being a Pyro main. You're either deemed too powerful or under recognized.
I'm not convinced EDH rankings makes sense to include in these lists. The "highest level of competition" is a figure based on a limited number of high level tournaments where the card was found to be the best tool for the job. EDHRec is more like a popularity contest with unlimited entries. This is best demonstrated by Omnath, a card that is cool and fun as hell, but is also very difficult to compare to something like Klothys, a card with a presence in multiple competitive formats but relatively little "fun factor" in EDH. I feel doing a separate "EDH" series may be more meaningful, instead of mingling both lists with each other.

The way tovolar's ability is worded, the 2011/2012 AVR block werewolves also transform. I see even more power now than spoiler season

Was expecting Tovolar but didn't think he'd be as high as number 1 considering tribal restrictions. Glad to see it though, love my Tovolar commander deck, he pretty much single handedly made werewolves an actual tribe in commander, cause the other werewolf legend from shadows was really bland, so bland in fact I've forgotten the name haha.
Cool, that Grumgully managed to get on the list, one of my favorite creatures of the last years.
Klothys is by far my fave new gruul card, just so different in design and yet so flavorfully thematic

I think it should be noted that EDHRec only keeps records back a couple of years, and cannot give the whole history of the format as a result. I think Nizzahon's system is a good one for calculating points, but that fact should be kept in mind.
I love my Klothys entchantment based group slug deck.

Be very carefull when naming Borborygmos Enraged with Pithing Needle
Chishiro, Raggadragga, Vrondiss, Faldorn, Wort, Neyith, Wulfgar, and Svella all have more than 1.7k decks on EDHREC, and should thus have 17+ points by the measurement criteria. I'm sure you have a point where you have to lock in your script, and commanders like Raggadragga, Faldorn, and Svella only passed Grumgully's 16 points very recently. Chishiro, Wort, and Wulfgar, however, had all passed Grumgully in points by the end of September, and none are on the list. What gives?
I was shocked Burning Tree Shaman was not on this list.

I never agreed with the rules changed due to that tournament Pithing Needle-Borborygmos situation. If you are a pro player, you are well expected to know the format inside and out. If you can't name the card properly, in its full name, then you are not doing what the card is stating. Simply saying "I call that Gruul creature that discards lands to do damage" shouldn't be able to cut it. Pithing Needle clearly says, on its text, that as it ETB's, you name a card. Either learn the names of cards before putting Pithing Needle in your deck/sideboard, or don't bother at all.
i hate commander killing magic, have competitive list or commander list not the same list
