@@Sakharee i was into it ive been looking gor a good cycling deck.it definitely needs tuned more but its definitely possible through years of cycling decks. Idk i think the dinosaurs are just extra value. The ability to cycle for free is sweet

I love how there's a bit happening here where everyone reacts to events with a lot more energy and enthusiasm, and then Cassius chimes in all deadpan. Everyone else will go "Oh no! That's gonna be trouble!" and then Cassius goes "That's not good."
That's actually why I like him so much. He's not fake at all and shows the audience his true self. I wish we could see more of him.

TwilitLugia honestly the overreactions and saying everything is so powerful is what I dislike about the channel, the pure gameplay stuff like muddstah I generally enjoy more as there’s so much less useless audio. It all just feels a little fake and I feel demeaned when it’s assumed I don’t know how good sol ring is. For example the 5 mana 5/4 in the brawl precon was said to be insanely good, no it’s not it’s a really bad card

Canis: I don't know, Turbo Fog can be pretty brutal.
Antonio: Remember that they make Game Knights in a way to make Magic more accessible to people who might not know it or know it that well. Those explanations aren't for people like you so I don't know why you'd find them demeaning. They're for contextualizing the game for newer viewers to help them out. It's why coverage has that "advantage bar" and the casters. The audio adds entertainment value, production value, and accessibility and that's what makes GK so good.

@@wEakling1918 there were 3 of us left and I made the fatal mistake of assuming the saskia deck wouldn't be able to both kill someone and swing at me, extra combats really do be like that (saskia hadn't named me so I felt safe)

Almost 1/3 of the deck has cycling, including lands. He really just did get unlucky with his draws I think, but was also likely too aggressive with how much he cycled early on (however he did seem to hint he needed to do so he could hit his land drops making it hard to say.)

Buddy and I were actually talking about how Halbro and Doggo would make a really good infinite mana deck. You play Doggo, get some attack triggers, possibly resonate all of them. Possibly extra combat steps. Get your infinite mana engine online. Cast Halbro and then go to town.

the deck picks are so in character- cassius playing something different and niche, josh playing something the competitive and instant-speed, jimmy playing the fun cute one
From seeing Cassius on Olivias stream and his personal decks I sure as hell thought he would play the Kalamax deck, he seems to like spiky decks. His Selvala deck for example is bonkers and every deck I've seen so far of him is at least an 8 I would say.

Jimmy, if you read this:
Becoming the "big threat" first is usually what gets you killed when you play on camera. People will keep on attacking you, even after you're no longer a threat. The second person to become a threat will usually have to deal with a lot less hate due to people already having spent their resources on stopping the first threat.

People keep attacking after someone is no longer the threat becuz they suck at threat assessment. Never understood ganging up and dumping on someone when they are already held 5 turns back.

It's situational though, hes saying in this situation it's almost better, in the review video they're talking about upgrading the decks to increase the power to the level of 'normal' decks and how good the cards are overall.
@@mikemcglasson1286 It is a matter of uncertainty IMO. When evaluating you are looking at the average case and when tutoring, looting, drawing you are considering its actual impact in a situation. I often discard Rhystic Study or Signets to hand size and keep subpar big creatures, but the big creature is usually the card replaced after the game ends (sometimes even if it won me the game).

Yeah, about that $$$$...It'll go down, dramatically, compared to things like Teferi's Protection or that red Treasure dude (I forget the name) in older sets. This year Commander cards show up in the Collector Boosters, meaning a much bigger influx onto the market. It'll be a highish cost card, but not nearly as bank-breaking as cards that have shown up in Commander products before. So don't go buying them now, either to use yourself or to sell on later - they'll be a fraction of the price in a year once LGSes are open again and the Collector packs have been opened en masse.
Also, JLK is not lacking in money if you hear about his mtg spending habits lol
Andrew Sparkes yeah but it’ll probably see as much play (if not more) as Teferi’s Protection. First, it’s blue. Second, it’s insane.
I dont see this card dropping in price all that much really. Yeah, it will drop some but I think it will stabilize around the $35-50 price point
Will likely settle around 20-25 for the release window, then go up later once the set is out of print.

I enjoyed this episode just like how I enjoy all Game Knights episodes, but there was something really nagging at me after watching it. I feel like on an overall scale, all of these precon decks really misrepresented the performance that they were capable of.
Jimmy basically only able to mutated once, Josh only copied two spells, Cassius only was able to cycle properly twice when his commander was out, and like he said had no cycle cards after turn 5, and finally Alias had only one creature in her graveyard when she cast Kathril.
This is not about how well the players performed, no not at all, but how, unfortunately, most of the good/key cards that display what the deck was meant to do just simply didn't show up.
Perhaps I have been to spoiled by past episodes where crazy explosive turns would happen and the board would be wiped multiple times, and finally by outplaying through some sort of advantage, or simply cashing in favours, one is left standing! However I felt at the end that the entire game became more or less a slug fest due to many players top decking lands and missing many of their pieces throughout the game. I hope I didn't enrage any fans because I just wanted to make a point that just one or two decks underperformed, but on a general level that was the case I feel, but that's just my opinion :-)
I disagree with WotC on this but they have said that they intentionally leave obvious cards out of the decks so people can upgrade them.

What you are seeing are decks with too many lands and unfortunate variance due to decks that just aren't tuned very well. It's ok that this happens, and we should all expect this from these precons; that is, as they have been released. I would prefer the precons be built with better options and less tap lands! The themes were strong, but the decks are pretty underpowered and stretched thin by very greedy mana requirements with weak mana bases. I don't want the folks at CZ to feel like they need to alter the actual gameplay to make it more exciting, so I prefer seeing how the decks do being piloted by competent players. If they perform poorly, that is very valuable information about what you may be inclined to spend your money on.
This is why precon episodes are boring and dull imho. I get why they have to do them but I end up rarely watching because the games aren't interesting to watch.

@@johnrobinson1481 Honestly, I'm surprised they chose to upload this game. I'm sure they do more than one game per vid, this game had almost none of the decks really doing anything interesting. Even the winning deck didn't really win through keywords, more just attacking with a lot of creatures.

I would love to see a game knights episode where Jimmy, Josh and the two guests created their own commanders, with every other card in the deck being a actual card in magic.

There was a few of those kinds of things this episode. I know they script/do it on purpose to keep the game more even, but they just really stood out this time for some reason.
I mean, on a new mutate creature i may have done the same mistake... but on one of Magic's most iconic cards ever like Akroma, forgetting of haste and vigilance? XD yeah, there were many "weird" decisions and threat assessments theis game, much more than usual. I'll give them a pass cause I assume they are out of Magic practice after the pandemic 😅

I am a beginner at MTG and going into your local shops in the UK in my area can be a bit annoying to ask how it all works. I go in and they look at you weird if you don't already know everything. So I found the culture around it really antisocial at first for beginners.
This helped me to get into the games, see how much fun it is, and how everyone can play.
Thanks to your videos I can now say I have built a lot of my own 60 card decks, and now own a few prebuilt commander decks (including two from this video).
It is amazing how much personalisation and creativity goes into your deck building, and how easy you can tell if you haven't built it right as soon as you test it out. It is also nice as every deck can be a little art collection too.

Koodo on the special effects and all the animation WOW very professional and immersive. Anyway I had to pause after the intro to make this comment as i was mezmerized lol. Ive been watching TCZ for a very long time and I can always see when something is new or got better. Well everything The Command Zone Team do is done right and it really blows my mind. In the future, I think Jimmy or Josh should make a commander deck with Xyris, the Writhing Strom as their commander. (I also just like the prospect of wheels in that you make everyone discard their hand and suffer.)

That transition when Cassius got josh's creature to attack Jimmy was very cool. The special effects really do make this a lot more digestible

This weekend I bought Symbiotic Swarm. It's my first Commander deck! After getting it at my LGS, I joined a game of commander. It lasted 2 &1/2 hours. I've never experienced such an insane game of magic before.
