Such a far cry from some of the domestic manufacturers who look like they just dropped the same engine into all of their vehicles without even considering maintenance. There’s no way of the K series has been swapped into more cars than the LS 😂. Even freaking boats use the LS. That damn v8 has been used in almost anything you can imagine at this point.
There is no question Honda makes the best, but the point of Honda in the 90’s was that it was like a secret weapon. It was cheap, it was competitive, it was fun, and mostly cheap. It is taking people far too long to realize it is no longer cheap. Hyundai is the new Honda. Why pay 60k for a type R when you can buy 95% of the performance for 35k?
The Civic stands aside the W-124 as the most important and influential models in automotive history, in my mind. Of course the 1992 400E in my parking space might be whispering in my ear at night. Had that little Acura, too. What a car, that was.
Honda innovates and no one knows about it, the original insight was the first hybrid in North America, the zdx was the first suv coupe, the crz was the first sports car hybrid, the second gen nsx was the first affordable hybrid supercar, Acura was the first luxury Japanese brand, first gen nsx was the first reliable supercar. I would argue they are more enthusiast focused than Porsche, while Porsche makes good track focused road cars, Honda actually dominates on dedicated track cars, Acura GTP racecar, the hybrid power train in the red bull F1 car, and McLaren F1 cars in the senna era, Indy car efforts, plus Moto GP motorcycles that have dominated their respective classes, plus Honda has two FIA certified race tracks Suzuka and motegi, Porsche has a shorter history and they've done well in one track..... And even then Toyota has dominated that in the last few years. Definitely getting into the overrated, overhyped section. That being said I would genuinely prefer Honda not becoming like other enthusiast brands like Ferrari/Porsche so we don't pay bloody overs for them💀💀💀

Watching Hyundai/Kia copy the Honda playbook over the last 10-20 years has been very interesting (although their popularity in the US has not taken off as much as other countries???). Start with small cars, invest a ton of money into R&D in their target markets, start punching out performance models (N-cars), oh, and steal Albert Bierman from BMW - that was a baller move!
I totally agree. I have huge respect for what the Koreans are doing. I own only Hondas for the last 20 years and wouldn't even look at a German car if there is a Japanese alternative. But Hyundai or Kia? I'd gladly give them MO money any day of the week 😁
I wonder if Honda ever thought about making a V8 VTech with Quad cams. I know Honda is capable of making a V8 muscle car 1000hp All motor with 10 liters of displacement. I would love to see this happen and see the car or truck that would have that engine option.
The mark 2 NSX was originally supposed to have a V10.. and they did make an indycar V8.. but yeah I wish they would make a road car with a V8 .. It would be amazing
It wasn’t a replacement, It was THE 3rd generation CRX, because that’s what it was known as in Japan and everywhere else except the US if I’m not mistaken.
After driving a Fiat Spazio, Renault Fuego, Ford Mustang, Pontiac Bonneville, a pair of Saturn's (good try), I finally got my hands on a Nissan 240, a Toyota Corolla Sport and now...a Honda Civic Hatchback Sport, the japanese cars are much, much reliable than the other countries' cars, but the Honda Civic is the best car ever!!!! Honda rules! Hopefully one day I'll get to drive a Type R or an NSX
I beat my 93 accord to the ground. Did a ton of mods too. I left it sitting in my brother's lot in Colorado for two years. I finally went to get her and first try she started up.
when i worked in lawn and garden at sears through the late 2000s the honda mower had the least amount of torque and was constantly returned for a high torque craftsman mower. no one wants to bog down in the thick grass!
Caught that too...also never actually mentions the performance of these cars. Quick for their time. Over all still slow for the automotive landscape...and the LS is probably about 5 times more common than a K swap 💯

Acura never made the civic type r. That was always Honda. We did get the integra type r stateside. The civic type r had a b16b and the integra had the bigger b18c(b18c5 in the states)

Lemme throw it this way. I daily drive a 250k mile 7th gen civic, I have had no major repairs, Leake and burns no oil, still gets 44-46 mpg, everything works except for the odometer reset button and the headliner falling off. If you want something fun to drive but still get good gas milage, a civic is the way to go.
They also cheated recently at the nurburgring. The car they used had increased boost pressure and a shorter ratio gearbox/ final drive. They made out it was completely stock and the same as what you would get at the dealership but that's just not true. Misha cardoun recently tested this car and the changes in terms of speed reached and gear choice at certain sections of the track made it clear that honda were not being honest.
Now if we could get Honda to ditch cvt’s across the board. I loved everything about my 2017 accord except the transmission. It handled well, got good gas mileage, and looked good. It lacked any soul in the engine/transmission though.
Easy .. Honda just didn't have they hands or expertise in cars. They branched the fuck out! I laugh because people forget MITSUBISHI'S JUST DIDN'T MAKE CARS I HAD THE EVO AND THE MITSUBISHI BIG SCREEN 😂😂😂😂

Gr86 (tevhnically its a subaru thou) ftw anyways anyone hate the new integra.?..i thibj it needs to be erased from existence or be renamed to accord something because it brings shame to integra line.
Honda sure put the ford pinto and Chevy Vega and the dodge Omni to shame . All these Detroit vehicles were junk , but the Honda civics were great car's that outlasted all of them put together if you totaled up the miles .
It states that the first civic type R was also sold as an Acura, but Acura never sold a civic. The American markets hottest civics for a while, were si's!
The civic type R also had a B16B. (1595cc) not 1.8 litres. This was because it was developed with N1 racing in mind. In japan, the class it intended to race in was the 1600cc category, hence why they squeezed out every little bit they could from 1.6 litres of vtec goodness.

Also it’s not cheap but 5k no problem. For transmissions I do not trust Honda stuff. There is better from Motul for example or just the GM Synchromesh.
I daily drive a 1991 civic sedan, and it's got 500k miles and I enjoy it every day.
Civic type r was not available in America. It was it sold as an Acura….. also it was 1.6L
96-99 CTR had the 1.6L
The 458 out beat the F20C after many years it rein supreme
K20 is indeed King but the B series just crack over to 2000HP recently
Like you say Honda got some crazy engines
Honda first and foremost is an engine company. So their ice engines are top notch.
YESS!!!
I've owned 4 civics of varying sub-models. 3 EGs and 1 EF. By far one of the most dependable and easy to work on vehicles on the planet. I'm less impressed with the newer models, but I have to admit, I haven't looked under the hood of one since 2010. Even then though, the engine bay had maintenance and mechanics in mind. Such a far cry from some of the domestic manufacturers who look like they just dropped the same engine into all of their vehicles without even considering maintenance. If I wasn't so obsessed with Right Wheel Drive, and if the S2K was affordable, I might be driving one of those right now. One of my dream cars has always been an EF CRX. I have just always loved that car.
Awesome video!
NSX
@@Hyperborean_2 As much as I love the NSX, I've never had NSX money. If you're looking for unobtanium, That's the Honda to buy. But with that kind of money, I would also be shopping for these fine specimens. 1987 911 Turbo, Ferrari F40, Ferrari Testarossa, Jaguar XJ220, and the Lamborghini Diablo SV. So many good options between the $100k and $500k marks. My current price range is $10k and below. Hence, 295hp turbo miata. Zoom Zoom.
I've been hooked on Honda vehicles since my first purchase of an used 1981 Accord 2dr hatch 5MT 1991 for $900. Drove it for 4 years and +50,000 miles and sold it for $1100 miles. I've had 4 other Honda Accords, and 5 Acura vehicles since. I usually don't part with them until I'm 150,000-200,000 miles down the road. The Honda/Acura brand is very sporty, great handling, fun to drive, and extremely reliable.
Their stuff just works, reliably, consistently. It’s boring sometimes. Their jet even rocks
...I like this guy way better than Brad...Brad always looks and acts like he just did 10 rails of coke before he does a video...this guy is a lot better, calmer and actually sounds like he knows what he is talking about...great video...👍🏼😎
I had a 1972 Z & N600. Loved those cars! 599CC motorcycle engine with a choke, which rounded up gets the 600 name.
Got the new accord in sport-L trim. They’re all the same as far as ik and it’s my first Honda. Driven civics as rentals and knew Hondas could handle nice. Whatever they did this year unless it’s always been this way, the car corners so good and the steering feels great. Almost no body roll in what feels like a car that should have a lot.
I got a 92 Honda accord, 02 Acura TL, and 87 Honda Fat Cat. All three doing well.
There’s no way of the K series has been swapped into more cars than the LS 😂. Even freaking boats use the LS. That damn v8 has been used in almost anything you can imagine at this point.
My guess is globally? Civics are sold everywhere
That being said I would genuinely prefer Honda not becoming like other enthusiast brands like Ferrari/Porsche so we don't pay bloody overs for them💀💀💀
I had a 2007 Civic Si. I am still disappointed in myself for selling that car.
Omg that’s peak fun and practicality there and I wish I had gotten one myself
I have a 76 civic hatch ,,80 accord hatch ,,80 civic hatch sedan and wagon ,,I have all year crx and models along with few hatch backs from 80 and up all way to late 90s ....they are near perfect and clean after I just know they are good value til the sun burns out and sell Great...I could do years and years on a channel I'm just to busy right now build my businesses few years while I'm still in my late 30s ......
I am never selling my fk8, I will happily pass it on to my kids to enjoy one day.
Toyota and Honda, the only two car brands that matter on earth. Ichiban no.1
I wonder if Honda ever thought about making a V8 VTech with Quad cams.
Listed the Prelude, CRX, NSX, and S2000, but totally left out the Del Sol???? It attempted to replace the CRX....
It wasn’t a replacement, It was THE 3rd generation CRX, because that’s what it was known as in Japan and everywhere else except the US if I’m not mistaken.
I have a 1969 Honda N360 from Japan. And still drive it around to prove Honda Never dies
Just a Honda4Lifer passing through the comments.
Honda makes amazing driver's cars in general. Doesn't matter if it's an R, Si or LX.
The Honda way.... it's the reason i have a Civic, 3 accords, a Goldwing, and a CRF450RL....
The Honda Civic Type R, will be my favorite Civic. PERIOD.
when i worked in lawn and garden at sears through the late 2000s the honda mower had the least amount of torque and was constantly returned for a high torque craftsman mower. no one wants to bog down in the thick grass!
The B18C engine NEVER had 187lb/ft of torque, unless forced induction is used.
And the B18C never made it into the first gen CTR. That was for the ITR. The CTR had the B16b making 182hp/118tq.
Caught that too...also never actually mentions the performance of these cars. Quick for their time. Over all still slow for the automotive landscape...and the LS is probably about 5 times more common than a K swap 💯
@@chrismathes3647 I have a K-swap in a 3rd generation MR2, lol
@Nick Farcy over all vehicle swaps not solely the MR2 chassis 🤣🤦♂️
I never said the MR2 or any sort of swap chassis, the B18C engine in and alone of itself still never 187lbs/to. You people who think I said anything otherwise are FAR less than intelligent.
I have the 2023 Civic an its like floating on air love it
Acura never made the civic type r. That was always Honda. We did get the integra type r stateside. The civic type r had a b16b and the integra had the bigger b18c(b18c5 in the states)
This guy is the best presenter I've seen on Ideal, ohter guys sound really cringy, like, I pause the video so no one hears their voices. This guy is really good, wanna see him more.
Gotta go manual
They got rid of them in the current hybrids lol
6:03 the first TypeR in the US wasn't a Civic but a Integra
NSX and S2000 I am keeping for life for sure
I still have my 92 civic si hatch.
❤️ it
Imagine paying for your gas in pocket change….
Still love that Acura Legend, such a a overlooked vehicle.
Easy .. Honda just didn't have they hands or expertise in cars. They branched the fuck out! I laugh because people forget MITSUBISHI'S JUST DIDN'T MAKE CARS I HAD THE EVO AND THE MITSUBISHI BIG SCREEN 😂😂😂😂
Showing N600's, then over heating issues, plus radiators and coolant hoses does not compute. The N600 was air-cooled.
I drive an MX5 but fantasise about a K swap. Honda rock.
Rusty Heinz yellow car so cool in person
The 1989 B16a as 1st seen in a 2nd Gen Integra or 4th Gen Civic should have had a mention.
The Honda CRX was awesome, and a huge mistake for Honda to put the axe to. 1988 Honda CRX had the 1.8L Vtec and omg.... it was amazing to drive... my go-cart on crack.
The power of dreams baby!
First civic type r has b16b integra type r used b18c
Yes and the civic never Sold as a acura
In Canada there is an Acura CSX that was an 8th gen civic with acura badges. But otherwise the civic was never sold as an acura
Kswap the world. 240hp k20a dc5 type r swap ek is so fun and love driving it
For commute traffic within a 25 mile radius , a small EV the size of these small Hondas would do well !
a CTR is not an ITR, the CTR never existed in America until 2017. the only Type R we saw before that WAS an Acura, but it was an Integra, not a Civic
Always entertaining and informative!
History repeats itself as manufacturers concentrate on super sized vehicles and American consumers continue to overspend on vehicles that are too big to fit in the garage.
s660 is such a good card but he discontinue due to they didnt completed vtec 1.0 turbo yet, now they have it but not continue
I’m in the wrong channel I’m a Toyota guy!
Gr86 (tevhnically its a subaru thou) ftw anyways anyone hate the new integra.?..i thibj it needs to be erased from existence or be renamed to accord something because it brings shame to integra line.
to bad they can't get their ac compressors and condensers to last longer than an entire summer before having to replace the whole unit out of pocket
HONDA CIVIC ESI owner here
Honda built fun cars that were affordable for young car enthusiasts.
the b18c made 197hp and 187lb/ft tq?!? where is this godly motor?
Honda sure put the ford pinto and Chevy Vega and the dodge Omni to shame . All these Detroit vehicles were junk , but the Honda civics were great car's that outlasted all of them put together if you totaled up the miles .
I like the vibes doing the video yet, there's few facts the way around.
Honda is life
Honda did indeed name one of their cars "life"
And later the "life dunk"
It states that the first civic type R was also sold as an Acura, but Acura never sold a civic. The American markets hottest civics for a while, were si's!
The civic type R also had a B16B. (1595cc) not 1.8 litres. This was because it was developed with N1 racing in mind. In japan, the class it intended to race in was the 1600cc category, hence why they squeezed out every little bit they could from 1.6 litres of vtec goodness.
The 458 also had more power per litre, from an N/A engine, even compared to the JDM F20C (125ps per litre). It had 126.6ps per litre.
Just know 9ooo RPM MATTERS when it's a stock 1500
I gave up Hondas years ago. No RWD. NO DRIFT. NO MONEY.
why does the thumbnail look like it's straight out of acceleracers?
The only problem with Honda is their lack of rear wheel drive.
