    • @fredericklmeade2947
      @fredericklmeade2947 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@francesfarmer736, that’s the sign of a great actress. The audience is unable to separate the character from the real person. Unfortunately,, she was typecast at an early stage in her career. It may mean steady work, but a dreadful career.
      Having to play the same part repeatedly is to an actor what finding that every patient you examine turns out to have a cold, day after day, year after year. Any actor who relishes being typecast is considered a hack because your talent is based on your ability to transform into and play as many different characters and types of characters as possible (even if that’s within a single genre like comedy), not to having to play to type over and over again.

      If you want another movie to put a smile on your face, see Peter Bogdonavich’s _What’s Up, Doctor?_ (1972). It is, in my opinion, the ultimate romantic screwball comedy with two extraordinarily popular dramatic leads playing against type filled with incredible comic actors who are at the top of their game.

      Miss Schaefer did the pilot with the virtual assurance of her agent and reasonable belief that no one would ever see _Gilligan’s Island._ - a “once and done.”
      She’d get paid for a Hawaiian trip with only a few days of filming and not have to be bothered with it ever again.
      When she learned to her complete astonishment that the pilot had been picked up to be a series, she was devastated, only to see it produced for multiple seasons, not to mention the reruns, which have never been off the air. I’m sure the pay was good (hopefully, because none of the cast got any residuals or royalties), but she never wanted to be in it.

    Could it be that motion pictures like "Molly and Me" act as a morality play when many people do not get their morality from religion. ? Good show. Understated comedy makes lecture on morality easy ti take. Why, oh why oh are not film like this done now. No CGI, or special effects just excellent acting.

    • @fredericklmeade2947
      @fredericklmeade2947 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sadly, there just isn’t a sufficient market for them. The film industry is a capitalist industry and by decades it seeks to make as much money using as little money as possible. Today that means comic book inspired movies and similar ilk that are guaranteed to be box office gold.
      Even a “prestige picture,” such an “art house” film, is made to bolster a studio's perceived artistic integrity, is made to ultimately increase the studio’s profit margin. (And by the way, when I say “studio” I actually mean the large multinational conglomerate corporation which owns the studio. All film studios are just one asset owned and run by a much larger corporation.

    Though he looks younger, Roddy McDowall was 16, both at the time of filming and its release.
    I can’t imagine the stress and personal difficulties he must have experienced being a gay youth likely just beginning to deal with his sexuality. To be in such a public light and to have so few resources to guide or help you must have been a living hell for some time in the 1940s and the even more conservative 50s.
    It’s a testimony to his intelligence and fortitude that he was able to navigate such incredibly treacherous waters, both personally and professionally, with more than 270 film and television credits by the time of his death from lung cancer in 1998 at age 70.

      Why would she even care? I'm a Christian and don't care. In fact, I watch all the Monty Woolley movies I can because he was such an entertaining actor. The problem with people today is that they always want others to know what they're doing sexually. Who cares what anyone does behind closed doors as long as the underaged aren't involved? Just don't shove it down our throats!
