- Brock Purdy came back like he never left, as he threw two touchdowns in the San Francisco 49ers 30-7 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. Micah Parsons had some words, saying quote: 'I just don't think that we should sleep on Brock Purdy anymore. I think Purdy is a Top 15 QB. There are things we want to still see from Purdy, not when Purdy is winning but when he is down.' Emmanuel Acho, Joy Taylor, LeSean McCoy and James Jones react to Parsons' comments, then discuss whether he is actually taking a shot at Purdy and not complimenting him.

Brock has not played enough games to say what kind of QB he's going to be by the end of his career, but anyone who says Brock isn't playing like a top 5 QB right now is either blind or stupid. As a 49ers fan, I tend to be very sensitive to any hateful comments towards the 49ers. However, I took the "top 15" comment by Micah Parsons as a compliment. If Parsons had said Purdy top 5, he would lose credibility and get laughed at. Even top 10 is a stretch. And top 15 doesn't mean exactly 15th. To me it meant somewhere between 11 and 15. Which seems quite reasonable and right on the money.

Same as a 49er fan as well. Brock coming off injury and completing 9 games i took top 15 as a compliment. You can only play in the scheme you are in with the team you have. If he goes 4-1 / 5-1 to start year with good QB play i think he jumps into the bottom TOP 10.

It’s Purdys ability to process and execute whatever play is given to him. It doesn’t matter if he has Shanahan or any other OC in the league. His awareness is what’s keeping him to good. His peripheral vision is top notch as well. He understands when to leave the pocket or stay in. He makes the OCs job much easier.
I dont care whatever rank they put purdy. Winning is what really matters and that’s what he does.

Definitely a compliment! There is a difference between comparing vets to Qb that are in year two. Micah knew if he had said top 10 or top 5 would have the media in a frenzy. I think they were off on this one. I’m glad joy understood it.

The reason its hard to judge how good he is is cuz kyle shanahan will make any decent qb look great and they have an amazing run game and defense. I could see 15 qbs who would thrive as their qb.
32 teams, every team has at least 2 QBs. That’s at least 64 QBs but closer to 70 QBs on rosters. 15 is very fair for now and much higher than most Purdy doubters have him. It’s a compliment for now.. if he plays the whole season the way he’s played thus far than at the end of the year anything lower than 6th would be a diss.

Considering Purdy was the LAST pick in the draft, calling him a top 15 QB is absolutely a compliment. This guy is playing at the highest level of football where only the most talented athletes play, he was on the fast track to being an unsigned free agent. To go from that to a starting QB in this league, to then being called a top 15 is nothing short of a compliment and it you take it any other way is ridiculous and entitled. Especially while in this era of great quarterback play.

As a 9ers fan, I’ve seen plenty of quarterbacks who cannot execute Shanahan’s system and fail. His system requires elite timing, recognition, anticipation and accuracy to get the YAC from guys like Deebo and CMC. Doing that consistently (see Jimmy G) is really hard. As a bonus, Purdy has excellent evasiveness and scrambling ability because Shanahan often leaves free rushers coming right at the QB. So far, so good. Purdy’s biggest challenge will be staying healthy behind so-so pass blocking.

They are being very selective as to how they are breaking this down. Last time I checked most teams have at least 2 QBs which being in the top 15 puts you in the top 25% minimum. For someone who was the last person picked in the draft saying they are in the top 15 is no slight. They however have chosen to make it about the starting quarterbacks so they can drum up some controversy.

A realistic gauge to determine Purdy on the list is how many decent defenses has he beaten in those 9 games. At the end of the day, it’s about the playoffs, where you face the best defenses in the league. If we want to base how he played against elite defenses in a playoff situation we could say so far, he’s an average to slightly above average QB. Parsons is probably right.

Brock played very well. He has overachieved to epic levels. That being said, it is a stretch to say he's in the top 15. That team is ridiculously talented. Kyle shanahan is a fantastic offensive coach. The defense is insane. Put brock on the giants against the cowboys. I doubt he looks much better, if at all than daniel jones. Situations matter. Brock has played very very well for sure, but he is somewhere in the kirk cousins range.
