Assembly and Installation of Thule Sidekick Rooftop Cargo box

Step by step assembly and installation of the Thule Sidekick cargo box on my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. I created this video because there wasn’t one on TH-cam and I wanted to see one as our cargo box arrived unassembled. I figured that others would be interested in this video as we can’t be the only people in the world to want to see an assembly video.

Thank you for this great video, helped me assemble the box on my own.
Protip: you can do the "tricky part" easily by yourself by standing the box up on its front or back. That way you don't need an extra hand holding the top open while you attach the top and bottom via the side bracket.

I wish I had seen this before assembling mine. I found this box unreasonably difficult to put together, and here's the kicker: I sold Yakima and Thule cargo items and assembled them for 10 years from 1984-94!. I think this is a poorly designed and flimsy option, but it was all that I could afford. It works well enough for my needs I suppose.

Thanks that helpme a lot to decide if I will buy this Im a 60 Yo disabled lady living alone. So had to figure out concretly if it was possible for me to do this alone and how easy or hard that was

Just a note here, the locks and keys are not made by Thule, so you will be confused when it’s time to replace a lost key. The lock and keys are by Ilco Sears

I installed my sidekick on a 2022 Subaru outback and had to drill extra holes on the bottom of the carrier, to be able to mount it to the crossbar

Thank you. I'm a senior female and wonder if I could do this alone? I needed basic instructions like this so it is much appreciated. I wish I could have skipped the removal of snow and saw it from the ground to lifting it onto the roof rack. Just curious if that was a struggle without help? I know how much it weighs so maybe it is possible to do it alone.

I purchased crossbars from Amazon. They work fine. No problems.
