Well we clearly know where we are sat and we all know how we got where we are in relation to Labs and the wider issue…victims of a minority report perhaps ..that’s a debate . Also we do not know who is authoring the new labs + but we know where to get it. There are millions of Labs used across the planet and that is a testament to giving …it begs the question just how much giving is enough. Times are hard right now and businesses have to make a profit.. and so structures inevitably move on. Personally I wish Crow Hill and Spitfire the best of success in the coming years and I look forward to viewing the Labs + nexus 6 offering.
I hope they won't move the free stuff under a paywall. I'm still working with some non-profit projects and having a popup saying "EH YOU WASTED YOUR TIME, NOW PAY". Sucks...
I find it hard to complain about a company discontinuing free things, but my heart sank a little when I got that email. Thanks for pointing out other sources of quality free stuff, it's really appreciated.
Fair point to make, in the end to produce free stuff still costs money, I'll be interesting to see if they continue with free LABS stuff. The payed ones will be fine of course, the free LABS that are currently out, I can't image them pulling them down or putting them behind a pay wall but who knows
Unfortunate, but seemed to be the way the company was shifting in more ways than this. Pretty doubtful it will be better than what it is. My guess is it will be like their other products, but with a different pay model. Got to download any missing sounds quick!
Labs never used to be free, it was very affordable though which was great, and from memory, the money went toward charities which I think was an interesting way to do it rather than it just being free all the time. I remember having to pay around $3 per product which was still a bargain and an easy way to get into Spitfire Audio. We have had Labs for free for so many years now, with so many titles available, I can't really complain. I just hope that I continue to have access to the LAB products that are currently free. Paying for something like the air I breathe through climate change policies, well that I have a problem with. Air should be free.
Mate they were providing it for free, the main operator of it isn’t there anymore, as far as I’m aware they aren’t removing the previous labs stuff which is already filled with enough freebies to last you a long time. I mean o hate subscription models too but look I just care that spitfire continues making decent stuff, they obviously spent to much in recent years and not made a return. And CH leaving was a really punch to the gut but probably so was CHs comments to a lot of trans artist, some of whom actually worked with spitfire on labs, pianobook and spitfire content.
@@toddfrombethesda6963 It could be that the whole "subscription model" could also mean it comes out early for those ON the subscription and people who aren't on the subscription have to wait til a certain period, I don't know, it's speculation. Also please don't call me your "mate". It's patronising.
CH was the forefront of spitfire arrogance. He would argue with customers sometimes but what was really showing of his behaviour was the release of Hans Zimmer Strings were he was downright rude about people criticising the product for being both misrepresented and shit. He really did care about the company and should be looked at by CEOs as a role model for community development but yeah arrogance and defensiveness were his strong suite.
Every LABS trailer ended with "... and best of all, it's free." 🤣
Yep 😂 I bet when the new stuff comes out it will be “… and best of all it’s ONLY £4.99 a month” 😂
AFAIK is was Christian who was making the free labs stuff. His new company's 'Vaults' is the new labs
Christian was like a real christian in Spitfire Audio
Definitely seems so! I'm enjoying the vaults
@@Joe-blogcomposer Yeah, they are very good

What a shame… Labs was a good, noble thing. I guess idealism has left the building and shareholders came in 😢

Could ber tied to some HUGE severance pay check they had to write to Christian Henson...
Highly likely to be a subscription
Yeah, more then likely, I wonder how much month
@@Joe-blogcomposer 9.90 $ maybe
I’m tempted to start a poll 😂 winner gets their first month on me 😂😂

And what will happen to the audio libraries we have already downloaded? Are we going to be able to still use them?

Hope so.
I suspect the departure of CH from the company (which is a shame) have something to do with this shift . But maybe I'm wrong.

Feels unexpected certainly, but likely we’ll pay the cheese tax 😅
Labs ended when christian was forced to leave. Vaults is the new succesor
If I’m honest I’m preferring how Vaults is done compared to labs

Hey mate, are you suprised? I am not at all!
I wish I was, but in all honest I’m not, kind of makes sense because CH always fronted the free stuff
@@Joe-blogcomposer Yea, things have been going downhill in the Pianobook sector as well. I think they're dropping 90% of the free stuff.
This is scummy of them in my opinion.

sorry to say, amazing libraries but very arrogant company.
I agree completely with this actually
