One of the best guitars I have ever played, what a quality from Indochina!!! Cannot stop playing it. Feels like a high class model. The sound of the P90 is incredible. The sand colour is unbelievable. Gretsch has made a brilliant guitar.
Late to the party here, but I gotta say, that was a fine review. Clean and to the point. It didn’t cost a lot, it’s good, and then you proceeded to burn the house down with it. I just picked mine up today, and you are absolutely right. Thanks.
Been playing nearly 40 years, all that was available to me as a first electric guitar was secondhand (I didn’t have much money when I was 14!) Auditon, Kay, Tiesco etc crap. There are so many fantastic options available now, even in the sub £300 bracket - what a time to start playing!!
@Rubba Dubdub Thanks for comment... we hear you! In fact we recently picked up a late 60's Teisco-made 'Zenta' Telecaster copy which we plan to compare with one of a today's 'beginner' guitars to find out how much things have changed!
Stopped by and have to comment. That guitar sounds beautiful through that rig. My very 1st Gretsch is the G2215 Junior Jet Club. Cheap as chips as they say, and I still love it. You've come a long way since this video from a "fledgling channel", and have settled into a nice groove. You've carved out quite a nice niche for yourself here on YT and the TV channel. Rock on, brother!
I've got the same exact model, fantastic guitar for not a lot of dosh !, great pickups and a lovely neck and I love the simple control set up of 1 volume and 1 tone knob, brilliant guitar 😁🎸
Saw one of these at my local music shop in Finland and was blown away by the look and price of it. Trouble was after playing it briefly I didn’t actually know what to play on it, if that makes sense 😅 couldn’t really pin point what genre it was for. Ended up buying a jet js400 strat which is friggin amazing for 220e. May go back in a couple of months and have another tinker with the Gretsch…despite not really gelling with it in the store…she’s still on my mind.
I have the gunmetal color version of this. I love this guitar. I got it for $349 - for me, it's a great bargain! Solidly-built, very good pickups, playability and weight is nice, the neck and fingerboard are beautiful and comfortable. The action was not high, but I like it lower than as shipped. Other than that, everything about this guitar is perfect right out of the box. Also it was double-boxed and well-packed to avoid damage in shipping.
I got this in imperial stain nice guitar modding flatform I change all the parts. Pots nuts tuners bridge pickups ang refreted to stainless steel frets. Now it’s a beast.
Whoo… I didn’t know you reviewed these. I ordered one this morning to cure my new cheap guitar itch! I have a Gibson Special, but have a hunch I’ll play the heck out of this Gretsch???
@@theguitaristas So Ive had this guitar about a month now. To be honest it can take me months before I take a new addition under my wing. Ive played it I think 4 times now and love the feel of the neck and it has great frets. But Im not real sure I like the tones. I am not a pedal guy. Just guitar, amp and cable for me. Maybe I should install Filtertrons which I love in my other Gretsch? Or maybe I should just….
I git mine two days ago and I can't put it down. It's amazing. I'm going to take it in for a custom setup at some point but it's great straight off the rack. Great buy
I have the 2215 ..but i would have got this one.. i love them broaditron pups.. this guitar feels like a decent bit of kit.. its like an epi les.. but the lower power pups, you get seriously good tones... ive had them all thru the years.. and this one possibly the best it does the lot ..
Oh my have u nailed the playing and tone in this one down! Beautiful tone. Delicious. Was set on an epiphone coronet reissue (not the American one), and this review is totally making me question that now! I’d save a few bucks on this guitar too. Any suggestions?
I don't remember if it was this video, but someone they're fairly light for a singlecut, right? I don't like a super heavy guitar. I borrowed someone's LP and felt like it was rooting me to the floor.
Looking at this and that same 50s era epiphone les Paul standard gold right now. Which would you suggest of the two? The les Paul is used. I’d probably get one of these new.
They are quite different and both brilliant in their own way so you have to go with which ever raises your heartbeat most… or do what I do and get both! 🤣👍
@@theguitaristas thanks for the quick response. Love your channel. Yeah it’s tough because I’ve never held or played one of these, so I’m going to do that this week. The les Paul felt amazing. That’s what surprised me. I couldn’t get over the ease and neck. So we will see.
@@theguitaristas got the gold top epi les Paul standard. Just so happened to be a gold top like in your video. Used, got it for half of what it goes for new. Very impressed so far. Two of my guitar playing buddies that both own epiphone Les Paul standards couldn’t get over the feel and ease of the 50s style wider neck. I couldn’t put my finger on why this one felt better to play, and we all think that’s what it is. So far, I’m very happy with the decision.
I just received mine and I had to send it pt back, the jack was faulty from the factory and I couldn't even plug it! Next week I'll have the replacement I'll let you now my thoughts but I love plank simple guitars. Please put your hands into the new Epiphone Les Paul Special in TV yellow, best guitar I've seen lately :)
Hey bad luck with that but hopefully the replacement does the job. We've actually already got a Gibson Les Paul Special Tribute in the studio and lined up for a test very soon... and a very special vintage Epiphone film was shot today so watch this space!!

I've got a G-2215 with the P-90, in metallic mint. Sick guitar. Cheers!
Very very cool! 😎🎸

I am really interested in the G2215, the one with the p90 in the neck. They seem very nice guitars. Gretsch is killing it lately...
Ah yes... love the P90 version and definitely tempted by that one too!
@@theguitaristas I was thinking about getting a Guild Starfire, but I believe their body is too big. These seem nice.
Beautiful tone and playing 👌

What do you think, that guitar or some Epiphone in the same price range? What is better choice?
Thanks
Your videos are very good.
Thanks man, Epiphone’s or Gretsch all pretty good!
You should do a 3 year anniversary of this video by reviewing the P90 version of this guitar G2215-P90
Very nice. 👌 Got skills.

I'm really on the fence with this guitar and the new Epiphone lp special as a backup for my LP special . I've never owned a Gretsch
It’s great but there are lots of other options too in this price range… epiphone Wilshire perhaps?
Belated 👍🏻👍🏻
My first video I think!... could you tell? :)
@@theguitaristas Gotta start somewhere.
Frets are good? I think the one reason I wouldn't buy this is because it doesn't have the forearm cut or an arch. But I think the rest of them do.
