    It's cheap and pretty, sounds alright. Not the best but honestly pretty good once dialed in, like any guitar really. Very tempting to pick one up, nice simple stripped down rocker, sounds alright clean. Thank you for being honest about the quality of the guitar, many reviewers just shower it with sugar coating. It is a budget machine, something's gotta give

    Great review, thank you. I have the white/cream model with matching headstock. Beautifully set-up, and just a great-looking, no-nonsense rock machine. Very solid build, and much more interesting than many of the Les Paul-style guitars in its price range. I'd have this over an Epiphone Les Paul any day.

    I just got a similar model with the P90 in the neck. I’m loving it. It has a great feel to it, and the P90 is well suited for it. The bridge is a little disappointing, but the middle position puts a smile on my face. I didn’t have any tuning stability issues once I put fresh strings on it. Even though I’m used to playing a Gibson Les Paul, I have no real complaints about the Gretsch.

    From Leo: I bought a Jet Club 4 years ago when they were that price. Kind of plain compared to most Gretsch guitars, but it has been a solid and versatile player. I have no problem with staying in tune. The thumb nail inlays do work perfectly. It IS a Gretsch, not the same as any other brand. LIke you, I first thought I would want to change the "BroadTron" pickups, but once I got used to setting the amp differently from other humbuckers, the pickups are really pretty good. (don't forget height adjustments)

  • @omegavisualbranding
    @omegavisualbranding 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Beautiful guitar. You can also put a Bigsby on it and you have a classic beautiful guitar. I don't know what kind of filtertron pickups they are but the filtertrons of the Harley Benton TE-90FLT has a more terrific sound (Rosswell pickups) than those on the Gretch.

  • @aaronlarsen7447
    @aaronlarsen7447 หลายเดือนก่อน

    There are other Gretsch videos. I think the big hair got my attention. You just have to file the burs out of the slots in the nut and lube them with some kind of nut sauce, if you want these to hold tune. I like powdered graphite, like what people use on door locks. Get a tiny file online specifically for that, if you want. Watch a video. It may have been shipped with cheap strings aswel. It's just a given to change them out. It is a pretty good all around instrument, with unique character, for not much money. Its all about the nut, A simple fix for anyone.

    A very helpful vid thx. Cool guitar design. It appears to be a beautifully styled guitar with decent sound - especially considering the price. I am glad they issued these. I actually like the stock sounds. Worth getting one for fun, and look…just tweak the pedal for sound. Maybe replace the nut for tuning. Seems one can’t go wrong, for the price. Cheers.

    I have a streamliner with broadtrons. The bridge is indeed .great for classic rock. The neck on the other hand gaves you allmost acoustic tones. Wich makes it a very versatile guitar.
    Also of you set the amp on the edge of breakup and use the guitarknob for clean tones you can play incredibly dynamic by switching pickups.
    Playing foo fighters while using one guitar gets a lot easyer that way.

    • @EasyHeat
      @EasyHeat 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheGuitarGeek I used to carelessly overlook the importance of properly stretching out strings, and it really does save on some overall tuning sanity within the life of the strings.
      One of my first guitars I spent a lot of time with had a Buzz Feiten "tuning system" compensated nut, and once I parted ways with it and acquired other guitars? Bloody hell! Tuning stability, a compounding fondness for SG's & LP's styles, combined with my misconceptions of wanting it to be close to an "exact science" I had previously experienced?! Nearly drove me stark raving mad! LMAO! I've actually pondered of installing either the Buzz or Earvana compensated nuts with an additional String Butler on at least one of my 3 "Big G" scaled guitars.
      Come to think of it? That would potentially make for some good content IMO.

But sometimes I'm hearing a lot of problems with this particular one, such as volume nob.... I don't want to have to earn the right to own a good guitar, but it seems if I want something without any problems I have to spend $1,000 and have an on board mechanic..... There's got to be one guitar under $300 that doesn't come broke and that doesn't have problems.... Or is it just the end cool thing to be hypercritical and to start being Joe mechanic and start pulling parts out of brand new guitars and getting the soldering gun out? It's like this with hot rodders nothing's every any good.... Everyone's hypercritical about everything.... This is just a $300 fender starter pack... It seems like if you want to join the gang you have to spend $600 at least to get a decent guitar...
