Homemade Whipped Body Butter Start to Finish

- Watch me make whipped body butter from start to finish with instruction and recipe.
I used a Wildberry Fragrance Oil in this recipe and it smells scrumptious.
Recipe:
8 oz Shea Butter
8 oz Mango or Cocoa Butter
8 oz Coconut Oil
8 oz Sweet Almond Oil
30-60 drops fragrance or essential oil
2 tablespoons vitamin e oil
If you have no Mango or Cocoa Butter, just use extra Shea Butter as shown in the video.

Refrigerate it and will last a lot longer about 6-8 months. If you store at room temp about 4-6 months
Watching your video again. I'm trying to get my measurements right for the amount of bottles. How much shea butter would I need along with my carrier oils to make about 10 4 oz jars😊
If you're following exactly like the video without mango butter then, it would be 40 oz of shea butter. I can explain this because you're making 2.5x the product of what I had since I had 4 jars and you have 6 more! In regards to carrier oils, you would then need 20 oz of Coconut Oil and Sweet Almond Oil, between 75-120 drops fragrance oil (less is always better is what I say), 5 tbsp of vitamin e oil

So, the angle of the camera didn't show it, but I was actually squeezing to the sides of the jar. When you're doing this at home, you can do what I've done in a pastry bag and start from the middle or you can get a spatula to put it in the jar. I only went past it for the video, but I did go back and redid them as these ones were just for my family. I hope that helps

Hey the coconut oil I have here is in liquid form and my Shea butter is much softer as I am from India and the temperatures are usually high... what can I do about it, I tried this recipe but still my body butter only forms soft peaks

Hello, since it's 4 jars and I went over the measurements to fill over the top of my holders, all you need to do is triple the ingredients as I also used 8 oz jars.
what is the measurement for the sweet almond oil, you didn't say, or I didn't hear it

Is this suppose to harden? because that’s what I want it to do! I want to keep the shape while In the container
It does not harden, but maybe you are looking for more a balm type of lotion? Those types are typically made with wax.
I just made this and thought I was supposed to put it in the fridge after I piped it in the containers as well. Mine is hard now. It still will melt on skin tho. Can I re-whip it and pipe it again back into the jars?
The butter should stiffen up after you pipe it and it sits for a while. It's only super soft right after you make it.

I actually got my jars from Ace Hardware. They were the cheapest I could find there in bulk in my area. If you just do a search on mason jars, a lot of them will be around $9-12 for a case
Never thought of a hardware store lol i love using the little mason jars with the flip air tight lids they make such beautiful butter containers but would love to get my hands on some PET containers (plastic) due to ppl dropping or kids getting a hold of it.

Hi! Thank you so much for taking an interest in body butters! I used 8 oz kerr jars for this project. This recipe yields 33 oz of product, so if you're looking to just make two jars of body butter then all you really need to do is half the ingredients! I hope this helps. If you have more questions then please ask away. If you have left over product, then you can use it on yourself. That usually happens due to the fact that you won't be able to get every bit out of the pastry bag if you do it the way I do. Or you can just pack it in from bowl to jar! Don't fill it to the top like I did. That was for the video because in the end, I had to squish the creations ;) I hope this helps!
does this stay whipped or does it go back hard over time?

I've made this recipe twice and both times I can't get it to buttered texture. Mine are too yogurty and liquidy. As soon as put on my skin turn to oil. What am I doing wrong?
Hi, this lotion melts on skin contact as it is a body butter. The term butter if you think about it is the reason why. Butter also melts at certain degrees. To get a buttered texture, you want to put the content in the fridge and whip with a hand mixer. My camera ran out of battery, so I was unable to show on camera that part. If it doesn't work properly and still turns to liquid, give it more time in the fridge to harden. You don't want it to harden completely.
Try putting arrow root in it so it can hold that buttery form
29msmoni :also in addition to the arrowroot you can use harder butters and less oils...
Use more butter than oil, add a hard butter in the mix and use a wax. The arrowroot powder only reduces greasiness.

What is the shelf life if you make it in batches?
The shortest length with ingredient used. Example vitamin e shelf life 8 months and fragrance oil 1 year . You would use 8 months for all if made at the same time

Does it matter if the shea butter is unrefined
Sarah Hendriks not at all. Though unrefined has a more nutty/natural shea smell. Some may like it but some don't. You can always put essential or fragrance oil to mask the smell but it wouldn't fully go away. If you prefer not to have the natural shea smell then i suggest you go for the refined
That was like 2 cups. Was that correct?
It's around 4 cups as 8 oz = 1 cup. Each jar held 4 oz! I hope that helps

Normally nor more than 25-30 mins sometimes mine had to sit longer weird u just need most of it to solidify ive seen alot of them do it where it still had liquid underneath and turned out beautiful
