      I have used at least 5 different makers of argan oil. argan life pure argan oil one seems to be the best as far as feeling non greasy, light and absorbs very quickly in your skin. Mainly used on the face. Notice a much more even tone and smoother skin. Give at least 4-6 weeks to see any results.

    It's interesting we've been using shea butter forever in Liberia West Africa. It's a must for our babies, but mixed with coconut oil, palm kernel oil with other fresh herbs. Whenever I travel to the US I'm always asked to bring some. Glad our brothers and sisters are now using it too. Cream from your ancestors😊

      @Queen Flower at all. It doesn't. It only introduces air and by so doing, it becomes very light and fluffy without having to rub your hands together for too long to use it in the body.

    • @uberhaute_naturalz84
      @uberhaute_naturalz84 5 ปีที่แล้ว +23

      @Queen Flower I don't boil mine. I live in a country where room temperature melts butter on a normal day. So, I only need a little warmth to melt my shea butter.
      Since I'm combining only butter and oil, I have no problem but if it's water content, I'll have to use a preservative.

      Would you mind sharing which oils you used? And how much cocoa butter?

    • @robotnitchka
      @robotnitchka 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@yaya4201 Pretty much everything I could get my hands on. Cocoa butter, shea butter, mango butter, avocado butter, beeswax, coconut oil, olive oil, sesame seed oil, jojoba oil, rose oil, castor oil (careful with this one: it makes hair grow on your face and body), tamanu oil, carrot oil. There are more but i can't remember them all. I also put essential oils in there for fragrance. I like bergamot or clove personally, but it's up to you. Oh and I use glycerin because it keeps the skin soft and bouncy as well. I use more of the butters than the oils, maybe like 50%-60% butters and the remainder is oil. It's more of a mask consistency than a moisturiser but I have extremely dry skin so I need it thicker and stickier. And I have no allergies to anything so I am comfortable with literally anything.

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  4 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      oils wont alter the thickness of your body hair. Exfoliate regularly, 1-2x a weeks, always apply moisturizer (preferably a butter or balm) and apply it to damp skin, not dry. Lotion is too thin and is predominately water, and water evaporates quickly.

    From trail and error, I prefer to use less oil because I don't like the heaviness of the oils added. I use very little (whichever I chose) and a few drops of essential oils. I actually stopped doing the double-boiler process because of the creamy consistency of the natural shea butter. All you need is some elbow grease and voila!

      100% raw shea butter itself is fabulous for the skin also the most important way the first hydrate your skin is to drink your water everyday and don't take hot showers hot showers will dry your skin out because the hot water strips all the natural oils off your skin. I find that's the best carrier oil to whip with my hundred percent raw shea butter is jojoba oil which is claimed to be the most like our natural skin oil and sweet almond oil a touch and a touch of hemp seed oil don't add a whole lot of oil the first time you make your whip Shea body butter start out with small amounts adding to your 1/2 cup of 100% raw shea butter this will make you plenty.

    Yes, shea butter is wonderful. I had problems in my body, severe dryness, small grains under the skin, keratosis pilaris and its effects, as well as a lot of darkening in body. I used a wonderful mixture consisting of Moroccan argan oil, because in Morocco we have the original. Argan oil is comparable to chemical peeling, as well as bitter almond oil and glycerin oil Pure shea butter and some drops of sour base oil. Believe me, this mixture is a miracle for the body, even the hardest effects are eliminated. It also opens sensitive areas and knees and greatly reduces lines and cracks.

    If you're from or around Toronto, theres a few African stores in Kensington market, go to the back and tell them you want raw shea butter and how much you want to pay and they'll sell you a slab of your money's worth! I paid 10$ for maybe 20 oz or more

    • @withlovefromrussia

      That is one of my questions: is it important whether I use refined or unrefined (= raw) shea butter?

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      its mostly a personal choice. refined will be processed a bit more and therefore have less of a natural fragrance. So you may prefer it if you want to add your own scent.

    So what essential oils would you recommend for scent and additional healing/beautifying properties?

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I would first pick a category of scents you like most (like floral, citrus,etc) then build from there. It also depends on what you’re using the butter for... like if you had eczema I might suggest something calming like chamomile or rose. Or if you want to address body acne maybe add tea tree oil. There’s a lot to go over also considering which essential oils pair best. But if u go to a store to purchase, like the Vitamin Shoppe, they usually have an essential oil dictionary that will tell you certain properties & which ones go well together.

    Does it stay light and fluffy? Or later turns slightly solid? Mine does that. I'm trying to figure out how to make it stay light and fluffy. Do i need to mix it longer?

    • @abetweene
      @abetweene  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      If you have a larger ratio of shea butter this can happen. Whipping it longer will incorporate more air to help keep it fluffy but some of that will naturally deflate.

    I tend to use a canning funnel. If you use a towel on the counter you can bang the jar pretty hard to settle the butter. Make sure to fold it over at least once.
