Agree on avoiding CVT same manufacturer supply Nissan and they have a poor reliability record. As am priced out of Jazz & Yaris ranges this gets my vote especially as good deals can be had on the Swift.
I’ve had mine now for three months and driven about 4500 km. Very happy. It is very economical to run. I’m getting around 24.8km/l. Though it requires 95 ron petrol.
Good to see a reviewer thinking like most Aussie buyers. Unlike some who go for the best car, it is the overall cost of the car with purchase cost, maintenance costs and running costs which most Aussies think about, then the reliability factor seals the deal. $24,990 driveaway for a manual swift is a winner to me.
Here in blighty swift gets a 7 year service activated warranty i test drove a new swift and it was pretty good in thst its an improvement in many areas over the previous version, and our prev gen manual car got 64uk mpg on a 400 mile journey dud we buy no bought a prev gen Sport version. It was a close run thing though had it had a heated wheel and better looking allioys in motion bottom spec i think we would have bitten.
Amazingly the rear seat room is better than pretty much all the big family SUV/Adventure vehicles - sure wont be the case for 3 in the back but neither are they. All current utes are terrible and even the 300 series is really ordinary. I am constantly amazed by what the designers are focused on.
I looked at one of these new and the actual fuel consumption saved isn’t great and not as good as claimed. It’s the low rent materials used I just couldn’t deal with, for a price between 22k and 29k. You can tell it’s been built to a price in India. I ended up buying a Yaris hybrid that was two years old with 10k kms on the clock and a 4 year warranty from Toyota.
4:56 Skoda Fabia STARTS at $39,990, and it has no hybrid, at all. That's not "just a little bit", that's like 60% more than the swift! 8:54 funny that you criticise the Yaris hybrid for being over $10,000 more. And you wrap it up in the conclusion to upsell viewers to the $15,000 more expensive Fabia again. Fabia is literally competing in Camry price range.
He refera to VW etc as an option - but they won't be anything like as reliable over time... check the reliability records! Suzuki are TOPS for reliability...
@@GlowingTube yeah good luck charge them. good luck doing a longer trip with them good luck replacing batteries etc. don't get me wrong evs have their place. they are not the future everyone make them to be though. and good luck finding an EV in the price of the swift. you just compared apples to cucumbers.
In my local mall (Melbourne) they are advertising a new MG3 for $24990 drive away & a 10 year warranty. Comparitively the Swift doesn't appear to be a bargain.
@@vladthe3rd414 I'm personally not ready to buy an MG, but each successive model gets better and better. By the next generation they might be hard to ignore.
For 10 year warranty to survive the MG parent company, in China, firstly needs to survive the current turmoil in China having great cut neck price competition.
Doesn't make sense that you don't compare this with other options at this price range, esp the Korean or Chinese ones that have far better materials, power, and value.
So, if you have any idea of cars, dedicating a budget of $20k used and remaining for fuel and repairs, is the only way. In the past, the argument was new and warranty. That argument is no longer true. If anyone in the market watching this video, just get a lexus is250!
its a real hybrid, but you can't drive on electric alone, in effect, its instead of the turbo & the 4th piston. The price has been around that level for 3 years is what it is for a Japanese car, and similar price to Mazda 2.
Non adjustable drivers seat in base model, and no spare wheel ... both are unacceptably stupid decisions by Suzuki. Great for the urbanites, inappropriate for those that travel through regional areas.
Well to tell u the truth it's not a new model, it's only a revised one. It's nothing great & it's not got front fog, lights either only one at the back. What is the point of that. You would be better with a swift sport, which has 14 hundred engine & mpg. Is far better than the one you have here on test.👎
I'm sure the Mg is a good car but Suzuki and the swift have bullet proof reliability reputation. I guess that's worth something.
Its better than the MG. There is a video from the UK reviewing the two and the Suzuki is the better vehicle overall.
It uses a JATCO CVT.. Avoid JATCO CVT at all costs.
Reliable cars
the mg drives like rubbish

The old GLX got you a turbo engine and 6 speed auto
Swift is a dependable vehicle you can count on it!

I'm sorry, but the design refresh looks terrible, but that interior looks quite comfy
I also liked the old one better.

18:08 clutches, whether manual or dual automatic, are considered consumables and are not covered by warranties.

But the Yaris is very compact & less spacious compared to Swift
It is not built in India !
Well, yes. Buying used it usually cheaper.
Excellent review 👍

Tom, great review as always but you did not mention the lack of a spare wheel and the inclusion of a goo kit.
what needs to be mentioned here? All the cars today do not include spare wheels.
Thanks for this review.
The warranty on the car in Ireland is 7 yrs for the swift why 5 yrs in Australia?
Also 5 in South Africa.
Can you do a video on the new Kia Picanto please
An armrest is available as an option.
I’m Tombakeeerrr
This is chasingcaaars
@@ubernoob103 Rrrrrrrrrright!
We’ve just hired one virtually brand new and driving economically I’m struggling to get 30mpg out of it
I'd probably spend the extra 20 dollars a week over 5 years for the premium model
Why get this over a i30 hybrid
Because Hyundais are trash.
Ok China car lover
Maybe because i30s are more expensive
@PurplePandaGuy88 not more expensive than this

How many litres does the fuel tank hold?
37 liters.
Yes super reliable and no wet belt
Paint this swift yellow and I could swear I see Pickachew running up to you....😂😊
Will there be a Swift Sport?
maybe next year but personally I believe no. it's difficult to keep emissions under control
No armrest...😢. I bought a new auto swift 8 years ago for $16,000 and it had a leather steering wheel.... This is ridiculous
Cost cutting by the manufacturers
Swift = Swift Sport or the smallest car with a 4x4. Great versions for a small car.
$24K car with 2 speaks, wow SUZUKI
$30K for this gutless wonder!
More than enough guts,lovely car

Medhurst Street
Design is terrible compared to the gen 3, think the old 205 GTI was under 800kg, safe as a cardboard box.
The front end is ugly. Why bother putting hybrid into a 3 cylinder car, just for marketing? It would be already fuel efficient.
Suzuki bringing back the Altezza taillights 😂
I'm so glad I don't need a new plastic data-tracking vehicle
Looks as swift as a bar of soap.
