I find it remarkable that the Suzuki can beat the MG on fuel economy even though the Suzuki is not actually Hybrid it just has an upgraded starter motor and a second 12v battery. I think that says more about how bad the MG3 actually is rather than how good the new swift is because the new swift isn't reinventing the wheel its just upgrading it 👌

The MG 3 Excite hybrid is $27,990, not $29,990. For $29,990 you could've chosen the Essence hybrid, which closes the equipment gap, as well as the Swift GLX, which is still under 30k.

I actually really like the swift because it’s not trying to be what it isn’t, it’s very honest not shoving too much fancy new tech in it
I’d rather older tech that’s proven over a new thing done cheaply

Suzuki have a very unique feel - they haven’t fallen for the style over substance. You can be sure the Suzuki will be infinitely more reliable and durable than the MG. Don’t be fooled by all the bells and whistles in the Communist Party of China owned SAIC’s MG.

I'll take the MG3 because of its hybrid performance and a nice door shut thunk.

The MG is such a polished product. Hope people look beyond the ‘cheap’ tag comparing it to the older MG3 (which was a crap car btw). Also, the range is not 1200kms, hybrid tank is only 36L, therefore even with 3.9l/100 you are looking at a range of 920km, more realistically 700-750km

Mg reliabily unknown. From what i see Mg build seems more practical easy to repair and maintain. Bigger trunk, more electronic less mechanical, simple design. I hope im right 😂 because im taking the plunge to buy this car 😂

With a hybrid you now have two problems. An ICE system with all the issues that brings, and an electric system with its own issues. Maintenance nightmare starts as soon as the warranty expires. Maybe sooner with the MG3.

From my experience, you couldn’t be more wrong. 250k with the first gen hybrid Camry and we had no issues whatsoever. Wear and tear on some items, such as brakes, was much less. Both engines support each other and reduce their loads. Fuel economy and performance was greatly improved as well. Car was as good the day we traded it in for a Tarago as it was when we bought it. Brilliant.

@@paulshaw3351 Interesting. You're the first I know to say that. When I was deciding between a hybrid and EV I spoke to everyone I could with a Toyota Hybrid, including taxi drivers. The non-commercial owners still complained about servicing the ICE, albeit with longer times in between services. The ones with electrical issues had the most serious complaints due to the cost to replace parts etc. The taxi drivers were the most critical. So I decided on a Tesla, and now am three years in and haven't visited the dealer or mechanic yet (touch wood). However, given the choice between a Toyota hybrid and a Swift/MG3 though, I'd go Toyota. I'd be interested in what the MG3 owners have to say in a few years.

@@DocuFlow all cars have their faults, some more common than others, some more likely. It’s a bit of a lottery. There’s Range Rovers out there that have never had an electrical problem and Toyotas with blown engines. I may have been lucky, but I’d say that taxi’s are extreme test for any vehicle, electric or otherwise. Glad you enjoy your Tesla.

1250km range for the mg3 ?? are you kidding ? 36 Liters and even with 3.9 liter per 100Km that is below 1000km haha.
And the car doesn't go "fully electric when you want to".. only when it decides and if the battery is full enough ^^

Why bother with those Asian cars and hybrid when you can have for similar price the new Skoda Fabia select with 1.0 turbo petrol, not mention that you get Euro driving experience, bigger boot and inside space, better design and 7 years warranty. My wife has Swift 20model I have Skoda Karoq and just the material used is such a big difference, my was 28K in 2019, wife's was 20K in 2021, you get better value with Skoda.

Always remember less electronic in the car is always better for not to be often in dealer garage for repair service, which means that I buy always entry level models. Fabia with 1L TSI claims 5L/100km without hybrid technology, 85KW power, Suzuki 4L /100km with hybrid, well not big difference.
