My mum has been driving Suzuki swifts for the last 15 years, replaces them at 200,000 km and never had an issue, very reliable car. Also, they easily sit on 110km/h on the freeway.
I'm still driving my 2007 Swift with 240000kms on the clock. It has never given me any trouble. I'm about to replace it but not too sure about the new hybrids
I prefer the old infotainment where the screen was inside the dash, it looked so much neater. I'm sick of manufacturers sticking these screens on top of the dash like an iPad dingus.
Suzuki sell like hotcakes here in Christchurch, as our dealer has an amazing deal that they have had for 20 over years. They call it cost free motoring. The only thing you pay for is tyres, wheel alignment, fuel and insurance everything else is covered for up to 7 years, they even pick-up your car for free to take it in for its free annual service. This is all included in the same price any dealer in NZ charges. Somehow they still make a profit..
It doesn't need a hybrid. The 1.2 CVT is stupidly efficient already. The tragically underrated 1L turbo with 6 speed auto is also frugal but so much more fun, and the 1.4L turbo sport is good value for how efficient and zippy it is.
thats true but regarding the k12M and K10C,these cars were first sold in Europe that has a hard on for anything electric right now and ICE cars have been put on notice so basically they had to make this engine to keep selling cars in that market, theyre phasing out the Ignis for crying out loud, thats how crazy this has gotten. Regardless though,Swift Sport is my dream car,Boosterjet all the way.
Great review of an impressive car from Suzuki. It shows that you don't need massive batteries to get a meaningful result. I nearly lost my coffee laughing when you didn't calculate the range... It's about 820km range, on the "as-tested" fuel consumption.
I used to drive Suzuki swift back in 2011 till almost 2015(This is from India and I moved to Australia in 2015 and the resale value was not too bad either). My first car and absolutely loved it. The diesel engine was super economic but amazing work done by Suzuki bringing in Hybrid variant. Awesome review Matt.
I’ve always had a soft spot for Swift. They have been in my family for years. I think it’s a great update, my only criticism is the front bonnet unibrow line. Missed opportunity for a continuous light bar.
Suzuki is such an underrated brand. I used to love selling these cars because you get zero comebacks, they are incredible reliable machines. One thing I don’t like about this new swift is the 3 cylinder engine, reeks of cost savings They should have used the 1.2 4cylinder from the Ignis a much more refined engine
The only con I see is the very blend design. From side it looks weird and not proportional. Previous generation looked more stylish and consequent in design.
I wish car companies made more manual hybrids. I love driving manuals, and I also like the fuel economy of a hybrid. I don't know why they're so uncommon.
It's a Suzuki badged European small hatch, so it's efficient and good to drive. Requiring Ron95 petrol is a good thing, and I think we should no longer call Ron 95 petrol the premium petrol

Interesting, currently have a 2023 swift sport though and I'll probably only upgrade if they come out with a new model with an engine that rivals the current turbo one! Would feel too sluggish after being used to it otherwise.
If you compare the new "real" hybrid MG3 to this new "fake" hybrid Suzuki Swift . You see a big difference between today's Chinease car makers and Japanese car makers. I'm not saying who is better or worse. It's just very different. I don't really see much improvement from this new Swift. Well to be fair, Swift has been really really good already. But this new mild hybrid Swift doesn't quite make sense to me. It feels 5 years old already. If you compare the new hybrid MG3 to the its last gen, the improvements are everywhere. I still don't think the new MG3 is a mechanically better car than this new Swift. But if you look at the whole package, I really don't know which one is better.

Glad this review finally dropped. The Swift is the pefect city car that can be used on highways. i like the shot in the intro of the interior, that angle really brings out how much better it looks than the old car. The exterior to me just looks like a minor change of the old one with a new bonnet and new headlights that you cant replace with the older ones if you need to replace one due to an accident for instance. I am very disappointed though that alot of markets outsde of India are insisting on using Suzukis pre 2014 mild hybrid system and not the newer 48v system, they couldnt pull that crap in India why everywhere else? Im upset about that system because it wont keep the AC compressor on when the stop start is engaged, the 48v system however can. Despite this however the car is rock solid and the ADAS appears to not be the pain in the ass other manufacturers want to shove down our throats because ANCAP told them to. With that said I dont see this car getting more than 4 stars because of the fact you arent tearing our hair out at it and it doesnt have the wandering eye nanny installed.(which I know will write it off in peoples minds because 5 star =tank and

I've had my new GLX for a couple of weeks now. I traded in my old Swift Sport Turbo for it and it's honestly night and day difference. Despite being down on power compared to the old Sport, it's just as fun to drive and the refinement is in another league. It's much better on long trips too, because it's so much quieter, the seats are more comfortable and radar cruise and lane keep are far better tuned than the old one. I've never been a fan of CVTs, but the little bit of extra torque provided from the electric motor eliminates the rubber band effect of most CVTs. It's a very good gearbox. That's OK. People can just go buy the 2004 car then. No need to spend good money on an old model pretending to be new. And no if I buy a car, I don't want to go purchase an armrest. What's next? You get half a steering wheel and you can accessorise by purchasing the other half?
If you going drive it hard enough that rear brake fade is an issue then you bought model. With 1.2L the rear brakes will have plenty of time to cool down between corners.
My wife has the existing model and would like one with a bigger boot. She won't be interested in this or any other car without a spare wheel, so Suzuki can suck it until they see sense.

No. And I certainly don't want to encourage manufacturers to do this. Suzuki (and every other manufacturer) can provide a spare or they can do without my business.
This is the second Oz vid where the commentator has said, 'I'll get back to that later' or 'I'll talk about that in a bit,' or..well you get what I'm saying. It's annoying. Stop it.
I like the safety techs of this car as described by this man. None of today bullshit technology. Let's the driver drive the fucken car. Fuck all the car manufacturers with all the safety tech bullshit
Yes growing up riding motorbikes and driving manual cars all my life, I don't need all of this nonsense to be a safe rider/driver when I'm on the roads.
That's the reality of the modern car. People (young people with young children) want a car with a 5 star crash rating. Yes I am not old but I still remember as a kid riding in the back of the Ute or being in a car with zero safety systems including no seatbelts. But today my car needs all that safety to protect my daughter eventhough we will probably never need to use those safety systems. I bet no one here will say they drive the car with no insurance but it's the same why waste money on car insurance as the chances of having a serious accident is very low, yet we never want to take that change. It's so funny losing your money if no insurance seems more important than losing your life or the life of your family driving the same can I drove as a kid today..
two point three kilowatts (2.3kW) of assist from a battery with less capacity than your little sister's eScooter (360 W/hr). You have got to be kidding right?
But why does MG not think about how the customer needs, I mean no split rear seats? That's so 1980s right there! No rear interior lights. Just little things like that ruin an otherwise potentially great new car.
It depends on how long you intend to keep it I guess, and what you include in determining the 'value' equation. The Swift has a reliability/longevity reputation that MG could only dream of! Not to mention more sorted chassis tuning/handling. But yes, the MG definitely has more 'toys' for the price, and if that is all you consider when it comes to value, then the MG is definitely the superior choice.
Love all posts that say that. Have you calc the extra vost? Its under $120 if you do 15,000 a year. Same with hybrid. Its a start stop and if they debadge it nobody would comment. I think they shouldnt draw attention as its not hybrid when you add a extra 12v battery. But unlike mazda 2 you dont need one $600 battery
The more reviews I watch, the less likely I'm going to buy one. There are far too many things I don't want, and none of IMO the things I want in a vehicle. As for the bullshit safety stuff, the only thing that matters is occupant safety. These small cars are coffins ⚰️ on wheels.
The "BS" safety stuff is required in order to get 5 star Ancap. If you want 5 star safety then you will have to live with the annoying driver alert and lane keep assist systems. I actually don't mind the lane assist now that I have set it up properly, but the driver alert system just gets turned off permanently.

Styrofoam was everywhere. I eas surprised i walked away from it. These cars would be no different. They are cheaply made, qnd biult to be disposable. You have to replace a Suzuki at 200,000 km. All asian made cars are built due to emmission lawsl standards, cheap material you would find in a craft store, put it togethwr with a 4 cilinder engine, good to go. Our reliance on our cars being made in Asia is astounding. We cannot trust them when it comes to a virus, but we sure can trust them with making our cars... Makes sense 😂

This is the second Oz vid where the commentator has said, 'I'll get back to that later' or 'I'll talk about that in a bit,' or..well you get what I'm saying. It's annoying. Stop it.
Is no one bothered by the fact that this car is extremely underpowered? 81hp? Really, suzuki??
Drive it and it doesn’t feel underpowered at all.
@@rossanthony7573 maybe at city speeds. Plenty of reviews say it wails like a banshee at freeway speeds. No thanks!
I like the safety techs of this car as described by this man. None of today bullshit technology. Let's the driver drive the fucken car. Fuck all the car manufacturers with all the safety tech bullshit
Those are very strong feelings.
Yes growing up riding motorbikes and driving manual cars all my life, I don't need all of this nonsense to be a safe rider/driver when I'm on the roads.
You may be barking up the wrong tree. It's to blame on legislation and insurance companies, not the manufacturers.
You sir are a muppet, and a brainless one at that🤣🤣🤣
two point three kilowatts (2.3kW) of assist from a battery with less capacity than your little sister's eScooter (360 W/hr). You have got to be kidding right?
Plastic steering wheel for $30 grand,... hummm?
Reliability tho and resale value.
a steering wheel cover fixes that issue.
No, you get a leather-lined wheel on the higher spec models.
The MG3 looks to be better value.
But why does MG not think about how the customer needs, I mean no split rear seats? That's so 1980s right there! No rear interior lights. Just little things like that ruin an otherwise potentially great new car.
@@gregb1599 Suzuki doesn't even have an armrest. That's worse than interior lights.
@@BPC778 Worse than no split rear seat? MG also does not have that same armrest
I still go for the "made in japan" either one is fine. At this point, no chinese nor korean made
Wow, direct hit with the ugly stick!
95 RON on fuel, not good at all
Maximising the efficiency and prolonging the life of your engine is “not good”? You’re silly.
3 ★ NCAP means AVOID.
Fire the camera man….
I can’t fire myself!!!
The more reviews I watch, the less likely I'm going to buy one. There are far too many things I don't want, and none of IMO the things I want in a vehicle. As for the bullshit safety stuff, the only thing that matters is occupant safety. These small cars are coffins ⚰️ on wheels.
A coffin with air-con? Must be top of the line!
The "BS" safety stuff is required in order to get 5 star Ancap. If you want 5 star safety then you will have to live with the annoying driver alert and lane keep assist systems. I actually don't mind the lane assist now that I have set it up properly, but the driver alert system just gets turned off permanently.
The BS safety stuff might just save a life.
@colin5373
As a retired paramedic with 35 years experience, I can tell you the integrity of the passager compartment is the only thing that will save you and your passengers. Not all the other rubbish. 😊
@@colin5373theres no data to support that and the only thing these systems are good for is to get some nerds at ANCAP all hot and bothered and otherwise make a good drive a undertaking of stress and anxiety .
It looks cheap not great looking
The exterior isn’t as pretty as the last one, I agree.
CCP car
CCP plate^
I see Suzuki are now taking their styling cues from old Peugeots and i hate it
No-one said you have to like it.
Why does Suzuki always put such ugly interiors in their cars?
What an ugly car.
Each to their own
Suzuki🤢🤮 cheap rubbish with an expensive price tag.
Expensive! You clearly haven’t paid attention to the market.
Most disappointing car of 2024 IMO. Suzuki really need to lift their game.
So mad they didn't give us the new generation Baleno , much better car that's got 2 usb ports plus air vents in the rear unlike this car 🤨😮💨.
@@wosamosman9814the Baleno is too low rent for Australian sensibilities and pockets.
Pffft. Wrong.
why did they ruined the swift??? this is the ugliest swift ever!
I'd have to agree.
@@therightcar actually its only the front part that i dont like
Why does every single car i see today on the road boring and generic?
They look like pieces of plastic on wheels.
As i put a Mazda CX5 2022 model to the test last year and hit a brick fence.
Styrofoam was everywhere. I eas surprised i walked away from it.
These cars would be no different.
They are cheaply made, qnd biult to be disposable.
You have to replace a Suzuki at 200,000 km. That is not a good car.
The hyandais are also the same.
I’ll leave the other commenters to tell you what a silly person you are.
