damn dude. only song i've heard from glassjaw is really chill. what ones did you have in the video ? i've been meaning to get into them; i really like early post-hardcore.
Dude yesss, the glassjaw phase is a righteous one. The songs are listed at the end at 9:05. those are like my 4 favorite tracks by them, let me know if they scratch the itch. Thanks for watching man!
dude definitely listening to them. i had heard of biffy clyro before, probably from looking at r/posthardcore or something, but never listened to them much either. been bumping their first album for like the last twenty minutes and i'm really liking it; any specific recs for them ?
Daddy yeah biffy is another lovely choice; dare I say I prefer their more mainstream stuff rather than their early work? Only cause of the production though, mid 2000s biff are unparalleled in terms of aggression and providing the weirdest rhythms. W&T is widely considered to be the best GJ record. They released at their prime and didn't coast out their style too much afterwards. They have a lot of EPs, my personal favorite of which is Coloring Book and I can only find on it TH-cam unfortunately. Their latest record released last year is gooooood I guess? It's just produced and recorded so muddy that it really hurts the quality. The songs are good but it's way too unpolished. it could've been so much more!
i'm definitely going to be checking out each band's respective discography this weekend when i have some more time to kill. i listened to the entirety of the first biffy album and i thought it was pretty good. gonna listen to it a couple more times tonight to let it sink in; i try to do that with most albums that are new or just new to me personally. glassjaw though, dude. holy shit. tip your bartender literally brought me to tears, and every one of those songs is fucking great. cannot believe i hadn't listened to more of them and sooner. i really, really like the emotive vocal style you described in the video and i listen to a lot of bands like saetia and alexisonfire and what not; really into earlier posthardcore and emoviolence like i stated, so i am just really loving these guys. a lot of newer core and shit is so "shiny," i guess you could say. really kind of too "perfect" sounding. the vocals sound the same, with those really nasally cleans and boring screams, in my opinion. more technique than just making noise. the instrumentals and overall production as well aren't as raw-sounding as older bands either.
chopsticksofchaos I like Glassjaw, but they wouldn't even exist without Neurosis, haha. Honestly, Through Silver in Blood is their most venerated album, followed closely by Times of Grace and A Sun That Never Sets. Out of those three, I think that A Sun That Never Sets is the most accessible if you're not really into sludge already and strikes a balance between accessibility, heaviness, and raw, primal, cosmic tier metal energy straight from a fucking literal black hole to introduce anyone to them. My personal favorite album is Honor Found In Decay, and I was fortunate enough to see them at a small show here in Portland, OR when they toured for it, and holy shit. I have no words for the experience to this day. It was a metal version of complete ego death and transcendent experience that people describe having when they do DMT, just like... With riffage. Has the most beautiful closing of any album I've heard to this date, and I'm also a Wintersun and Wardruna fan, so... Extra fun fact, Scott Kelly and Steve Von Till did an album with Wino covering some songs of Townes Van Zandt called "The Songs of Townes Van Zandt", and it's perfect. If you like stuff other than metal also, Scott Kelly's stripped down acoustic solo project is so genuine and haunting, it's hard to top in my opinion. Shit, this comment was long. I just really love Neurosis.
Loved this. Top Reuben and Rolo Tomassi shoutouts as well!
Trash Theory credit where it's due! :)

I love deftones but i never seen them live in person
I wouldn’t say gore sucks it’s probably their weakest album but it’s still really good

Gore doesn’t suck and neither does adrenaline. Lifter and pittura infamante are great songs
Was with you until you said Glassjaw instead of fuckin Neurosis, man.
Delaney Brightman yooooooo no love for Glassjaw come on now. I actually have no idea where to start with neurosis, any recs are much appreciated
