Good morning! Thank you guys so much for spreading new and old school honda knowledge. It is becoming harder to find shops that REALLY have the know-how for older Hondas that have quickly become scarce and almost classic cars.
I appreciate Brian's great wealth of knowledge with Honda swaps. I've done a BAR swapped 99 Forester (non-turbo SOHC 2.5L to 04 WRX DOHC 2.0L Turbo). Re: K24A Route swap to EP3, you cannot use a JDM K24 due to BAR not allowing it (unless you already have an existing K24 that was BAR). JDM engines are more costly than a DIY pull from a wrecker. You need to use a TSX (preferred) or Accord swap because BAR needs to see the original TSX/Accord ECU/engine-harness/EVAP/DBW modules and wiring. You need to take the car with the TSX/Accord ECU to a Honda dealer who can then certify that the ECU is valid and stock from a TSX/Accord. So, it is possible, but not as easy for a typical DIY swap that most people do, because those usually don't comply with all the BAR requirements which are all OBDII emissions related.
Does that KTuned CSS converter knock the voltage down from 12 to 5 also? Does it fix everything? I have a CSS with 12 volts going to it and a 2004 RSX Type S Hondata ECU. I've heard the CSS only needs 5 volts.
Good timing on this video. I am gathering parts to do a Jdm k24a swap into my 02 Ep3 as well. Two questions. Putting the guts of a 08 si 6speed trans in the Ep3 trans case. That way I can keep using the CSS, right? Would you recommend using the Ep3 wire harness or go with rywire tucked harness?
you should be able to use the ep3 case for it's vss sensor location. the internals out of the 08 si. but in order for the vss to work, you'll need to remove the vss gear from the ep3 final drive. and put it on the final drive from the 08 si internals. then everything should work oem with your oem harness and plugs with no need for speedo healer or any of that. i'm working on the same thing right now but with a k20a2 instead of the k24a. that said if you're using kpro like he said in the video. just leave the 08 si trans alone and stick it in the car and you can use kpro to do the conversion.
@@neverknowsbest4994 thanks for the reply. I have lots to learn/read. I thought the ep3 5speed had CSS. Yes. I am using Kpro v4. Sounds like bolting it right on is the easiest way. Sorry If this is a dumb question. But can I use the ep3 shift cables with the 08 si trans?
@@jackyyeung7903 that actually brings up a good point. the shift selector for the 08 is backwards. so you'll need the shift selector from the ep3 trans. but the bolt holes dont all line up iirc. so its another reason to use the ep3 trans case. you will need to disassemble both shift selectors and use the square piece from the 08 selector on the ep3 selector in order to be able to shift info 6th gear. you will lose the reverse lockout. the best way to have the reverse lockout is to just use the shift selector from the rsx-s as it requires no modification and has reverse lockout solenoid. but it's 200-400 used. just something to consider.
cracked valve seals could also cause oil consumption by leaving oil over the valve can also cause what i called the james bond car effect which is massive smoke on start ups and heavy accelerations
I have a jdm crv k24a with my stock ep3 transmission it's runs strong but my vss light is on, my 2 step wont work either I got a tune though Trying to figure out if we have to repin the vss sensor
So I can't find a 5-speed K series swap anywhere😢 was wondering if I could fit in automatic into my EG just swap wiring harnesses and everything is it possible
Speaking of automatic Kswaps,i would love to see if the motor of the ILX typeS That comes with the DTC transmission The engine swap is already done as far I know but no info about the DTC trans Since the CVT that came in the accord sports is being know for being a fuse As soon the motor start to make any amount of power above stock
Thank you Brian for answering my questions! If I go with the rsx type s engine, do you mean the complete engine and transmission swap or just the engine swap with rsx type s ECU? Will key immobilizer be an issue if I swap the ecu to rsx on my ep3? Thank you again
Great content, A few quick questions regarding a swap. I want to put together a K24A2 with CRV gearbox and rear diff with a viscous coupling from a land rover for an awd build, Car might be a suzuki awd or subaru but i have not decided yet. I am located in europe and don't have all the accura parts lying around as you guys. What ECU and harness should i use for this? Should i keep the fuel system from the accord or do something else entirely?
Good evening VTEC Academy, I'm wondering about my 10th Gen 2018 civic sport touring cvt. Yes! I do love it for the overall package, but I'm looking into upgrading/engine-trans swapping. Any suggestions beside a copart side damage totaled car type R purchase and swap eveything... Thanks in advance.
Hows it going everyone new here to the community 🙏 I have a 02-04 jdm crv k24a in my ep3 with my stock ep3 transmission. Running on kpro v4. But my vss sensor is on. Car runs strong, I had it tuned recently but i was wondering what has to be done to make the vss sensor go away, since it wont let my 2 step engage Do I have to repin my vss pig tail plug? The 3 wires? I'm running the ep3 harness Car runs amazing though Thanks yall

idk about the editing though, not a big fan of these random 'meme clips'...

Good Luck finding a 6 speed Transmissions here in Southern California

Thanks for watching! No, it will be VSS with the internals swap. Yea, use the EP3 wiring harness.

How to wire up 04 type s rsx trans to 2011 crz. Using 8th gen SI engine harness.

We haven’t tried that yet. I don’t see why you couldn’t though.

This is a complete guess but I would check out the accord euro r ecu and harness. I know there's a k24a model

Hi I have a ep3 civic with a k24 from 04 accord was wondering what throttle cable do you use
Use the throttle cable from the Element.
@@VTECAcademy ok thank you
Is it possible to b swap a ep3??
Exactly what I need lol
