    I got a 2.0l EcoBoost, and oh how I love it compared to my old saturn a v6. This feels lighter, much responsive, a little turbo lag, but once it spins it puts me on my seat. Nice little engine.

    I own the 2015 Ford Mustang Ecoboost convertible Performance Premium pkg. It is the single most awesome thing I own and I love going on trips anywhere in the U.S. It truly opens up on the highway and on long runs I have definitely gotten her to the mentioned 145 MPH top speed on several occasions and felt safe doing it.

    My buddy had a Silverado and a Denali with the 6.0l you're referring to. He only got 13-14 mpg on the highway on a good day when he kept the cruise control at 65 mph. His usual highway average was around 12 mpg.

  • @goodnough1

    And at about 40-50k miles, they start to run rough when they are cold. Intake valves carbon up, and there is no real way to clean up the carbon deposits, due to the direct injection and the fact that you cant use ANY type of intake cleaner because it will destroy the turbo big time. Fords recommended fix, "replace the heads". Good job ford!

    • @mikeserenar
      @mikeserenar 10 ปีที่แล้ว +52

      I'm all for better MPGs, lower pollution ETC, and so on, that's why I have a Crew Cab Silverado, and, a 2012 Mazda 3 for my daily commuter, to save on fuel, But Ford is pushing the Eco Boost like its a new invention. Turbos have been around for close to 100 years, with there lower ends beefed up to handle the harder loads. Now Ford renamed the Turbo, Now its called Eco Boost, and the Ford faithful are falling for it.
      If Ford using smaller, Turbo engines were saving a lot of fuel, it'd be good, but it doesn't save but 1 to 2 mpg, in exchange you'll get a engine that will NOT!!! have the same durability as the larger engines, wearing out while polluting the atmosphere.
      The fact of overworked smaller engines prematurely wearing out is as sure as the sun rising every day, its been proven millions of times, but you cant tell that to idiots that think Ford invented the Turbo, Oh I'm sorry, Eco Boost.

    • @guitarplayerforu
      @guitarplayerforu 10 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Surely a good booting sorts it? Like almost redlining it a good few time to clean out the cobwebs, of course the engine needs be warm before hard revving.

    • @guitarplayerforu
      @guitarplayerforu 10 ปีที่แล้ว +26

      Mike n Serena the ecoboost is a direct injected engine, and carbon build up seems common in all of them, not just fords. Lots of makers are doing their ecoboost equivalents. Ford aren't claiming the turbo part is a new invention from what I read

    • @BoeingvsAirbus1578
      @BoeingvsAirbus1578 9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      guitarplayerforu
      Carbon build up issues have been rectified in the Ecoboosts in production now and it mainly only effected the 2.0 240-250ps unit. This can be helped by the use of leaner burning premium fuel which also has additives and given the lower price of fuel now anyway anyone should be able to justify it as it's the same price that regular used to be. Carbon build up issues haven't just happened to Ecoboost units but other forced induction direct injected units. Diesels are crap and people still buy them when they're doing 10,000 miles a year and they wonder why they clog up and stop working! There's been issues of people putting the wrong oil in the ecoboosts as well as places like Halfords were telling people they need 5W30 oil in their 1.0 units when it actually uses 5W20! so there are various outsider factors that have affected them.

    • @guitarplayerforu
      @guitarplayerforu 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      BoeingvsAirbus1578 its shocking how a well established place like halfords can recommend the wrong oil for a engine. Thats like putting diesel in a petrol car, just wouldnt do it would you? Surely that wrong oil would wreck the 1L units?

    I have been a die-hard Chevy fan since I was knee high. I have also been sold on Toyota's 5.7 Tundra. I just recently traded my 2011 Tundra in on a 2013 F-150 ecoboost. I will probably never be e Ford fan, bud all I have got to say about my new eco boost is "DAMN"....most impressive truck I've ever owned. Ford revamped everything in 2011, from the ride, to the engine & transmission. The F-150 eco boost is worth every penny. Once again...I am not a Ford fan, but I'm sold on their new stuff.

    If you mean small block V8, then yes, about 412-420 BHP.
    The V8 modulars based on the 4.6L include the new 5.0L TiVCT and the 2013 GT500's 5.8L project Trinity. These are all Small Block architectures.
    As of 2012, the 5.0L TiVCT is rated at 420BHP.
    Add ecoboost to the 5.0L TiVCT and you can match or maybe even exceed the project Trinity 5.8L's 662 BHP.

    I read these comments and literally can’t relate. 2013 EB with 205k and it’s been driven hard nearly the whole way, nothing but normal oil changes (synthetic) every 5-8 k miles, changed spark plugs every 75k miles, changed boots at 189k and at 202k I changed timing chain and phasers but I only stretched the timing chain bc I upgraded turbos, intercooler, throttle body, CAI and like I said I drive it hard always. I have towed once or twice with it but I avoid towing as I just don’t like to do so, it’s been through woods and through a few rice fields but I mostly take good care of it and I’ve never had any major problems, timing chain was my fault and expected.

No V8 gas engine has this kind of amazing torque, add a 9000 pound trailer like mine and its effortless at 70mph 2200 rpm, hill or not unless its a mountain. love this engine.

    The main source of power of the engine is the intake fan instead of air entering the engine at atmospheric pressure, this intake fan boost the pressure within the cylinders for optimum power and performance on the road, improved acceleration, more efficient highway passing and added power for towing. It will also improved fuel efficiency and buy burning less fuel, the vehicle could also expel fewer harmful pollutants emissions in the atmosphere. In addition this car could be reliable and very responsive to the driver. Even without the exhaust fan and the direct fuel injection to the cylinder, by the Intake Fan alone will do the work. Just like the Air intake accessory for an automobile Engine that’s been copied all over the place.

    I have a 2016 Mustang w the 2.3L ecoboost engine. It has a twin scroll turbo and the turbo lag is barely there. With Cobb tuner and replace the inter cooler for a bigger one and denso spark plugs I'm blowing Audi A4 quattro away. I raced a G37 coupe and beat him by at least two car lengths. This little turbo 4 w 310bhp is so easy to get more gains with little $$. With about $2000 worth of bolt ons it's very easy to squeeze out another 100hp to the wheels. Ford ecoboost engines have been tested in the harshest conditions and just keep running at high levels. These engines are phenomenal.

    So basically not one new technology. Everything the ecoboost does has been done for decades by other manufacturers. The biggest thing the ecoboost can boast is the turbocharger which allows for larger power levels on smaller engines while offering lower fuel consumption when off-boost. Guess what - Japanese and European manufacturers have been doing this for better than four decades. The variable valve timing technology is something Honda perfected several decades ago and has been adopted by nearly every major manufacturer since then. Ford is actually quite late to the table on that one.
    What exactly are we supposed to be wow'd by here? That Ford can copy other brands decades later, slap a PC friendly name on it like ECOboost and pretend they are doing something new and innovated?

I saw with the new Fiesta it did almost 7l/100km while my Focus diesel used to do 5.5l/100km
