Thank you for this video. Very educational (I'm just APA and BCA). Its amazing how they get around the table positioning with such gentle smooth strokes.
If you had to match just a few of Efrens talents or accomplishments to get to the pool players hall of fame if they even have one yet They would have very few members in there
It's not that crazy. Billiards is not a physical sport, but a mind/control sport. you use elbow, eyes, and your brain. there are other thing, but these are the 3 important things in my opinion. don't get me wrong though, I definitely know Efren isn't at his prime anymore, but he's still super good. Definitely Respect to you, and this legend man.
Everyone is confused by the first rack for some reason. He sinks the three on break. 0:34 He makes the four OFF the one ball. 0:56 Hits one ball, no foul. Hits two ball, no foul. Etc. No foul anywhere in this rack.
Efren Reyes, or the magician, did not gain his exquisite and unique proficiency from nothing. He started playing pool since he was 8 y/o and now he's 65 y/o (dated today) which means he has been playing pool for 57 years (born August 26, 1954). Efren has mastered the entire pool table angles, strikes force, unimaginable control and precision on the cue ball, and a very high self-confidence with absolutely no vanity (He's very humble and friendly by the way). Two more things about Efren Reyes, he has never underestimated any opponent, and he has never neglected the calculation of any hit no matter how easy the ball is. God bless Efren Bata Reyes.
I haven't seen this part, but I'm assuming he missed a call and got snookered. Do you not know how 10-ball works? In 10 ball you usually have to call the ball or safety. If you do not pocket the call the opponent has the option for you to shoot again. At least that's my understanding and the only way he would get another shot after missing.
Efrén Reyes tenía más interés en observar el juego de Bustamante en la mesa del lado izquierdo, que en concentrarse en su juego .... no fue cuidadoso como en otras ocasiones, fallando varios tiros en ese dįa...

Efren: we are missing your vest that makes you look so professional. If you play better with it on, I’m sure you will wear it. I know these are old but best wishes.
Absolutely did. So lets have a little debate (in the friendly spirit) ... should Hohman have pointed it out to Efren? It's CLEAR by Hohman's expression that it crosses his mind........
Efren has a 99% of hitting the target ball anytime he's snookered and on top of that is a 95% of him actually not only trying to hit the the target ball but aiming to make it or put the opponent in a safety position. Efrens knowledge and understanding of every inch of the table and he's total control of his shots is out of this universe. The GOAT.
Some of the greatest inventors and writers were also Pocket Billiard players, Albert Edison, Albert Einstein,Samuel Langhorne Clemens(Mark Twian),Ben Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, so it's of no shock that we can tell people that we play a sport that was once held in very high regard and played by famous and talented folk alike and we should remember in ANY sport talent should be recognized despite all the critics and nay sayers in our very biggotted world!
That's because people's eyesight and motor coordination tend to deteriorate as they age. Age also takes a toll on fluid intelligence, so you can expect Efren Reyes to play less and less ingenious/novel shots as time goes on (because his ability to think out of the box would likely diminish as well). It is thus not surprising that Reyes' precision and consistency aren't anywhere near where they used to be back in the 80's and 90's.
I really like Thorston and he played very well. Efren looks like he may be tired. His energy level looks low. Still at Efren's age he didn't miss much.
