It cracks me up when these commentators say efren isn't the player he used to be..He's still the best player in the world..Pool requires good eye sight, and the ability to stand up, and swing your arm a bit..Efren has all that, plus the best intuition, and more knowledge than anybody..People are always so quick to announce someones decline when they get older..Theres Efren, and then theres everyone else.
He is the goat but not the best now. He hasn't won anything recently apart from growing admiration including mine

Me too. I WATCHED MANY OF HIS GAMES ON TH-cam..MANY TIMES, SOME.OPPONENT SWEARIMG,.YELLING AND PUT HIM DOWN. OFTEN OVERNIGHT WATCHING HIS MATCH, I READ HE WAS THE TOP.PAID BILLIARD POOL, ALL OVER THE WORLD..WOW! THATS A GREAT ACHIEVEMENT SIR EFREN..! CONGRATS !
DID YOU KNOW: EFREN REYES was even banned from playing in some tournaments on account of him being too good. This led Reyes to travel to the United States in 1985. In 1985, at the start of his career in the U.S., he used the alias "Cesar Morales" to hide his identity so he would be allowed to compete unknown.

@@rangikaka4498 : Three foul rule. Typically due to safety play. Hiding the ball. Both object ball and/or neighboring or cue ball must touch a rail after touching the object ball. Upon failure to do so, the game is awarded to the player who played safe

I saw Efren jump once or twice using his regular and not a jump cue. I strongly believe he never owned one. 😀
Personally I think jumps shouldn't be allowed as they are against the spirit of the game and way too often provide relatively easy escapes and often lead to lucky results. But that's just my opinion.
I think someone gave a jump cue to efren as a gift but he returned it because he is having a hard time raising his arms and does not like to jump.
Never owned one cus he's not very fond of that jump shot. He's more about using everything except that

He is not a very relaxed player . . . whereas, to me, Efren is.

With the score of 7 - 9. With the age difference. I'm still a big fan of Mr. Morales (Mr. Reyes alias😁)
Mr. Efren Reyes is actually turning 69 this year. And yes with the age difference, Mr. Reyes still got the edge. I am also a big fan of him😊
yeah this player is routine for Reyes 9-3 result during his prime. Due to age, Reyes eyesight cant see and have issue with potting.
Efren Reyes is my idol..
Obviously not in his prime, but to think at 68, Efren can still play at this level is remarkable. He’s probably still equal to, or an even better shot than 95% of the Pros who are half his age.
Scott mentioned he's been struggling with a shoulder injury that makes it hard to elevate the cue. That's probably why he touched the 3 ball twice. Couldn't elevate. He still plays well despite having a limited range of motion

I've always been taught to keep your eyes on the table. Do not change your focus, or cause ÿour èyes to have to adjust to differing light. Good advice.....
The table seems to be not level enough. You can see the cue ball rolling when it shouldn't.

the 69 year old body simply can no longer hold up as it did when younger no matter the skill/talent of the player.....the mind knows what to do but the body has other thoughts...though watching Reyes is still fun no matter what
I've never seen a player that plays as much safe as Efren does he's fantastic rarely can go wrong with him still the killer
There's a difference between semi pros & Efren. Efren doesn't walk around the table to see where he wants the cue ball for the next shot. He just knows.

4:20 surprised me ... what a gift to see the table like that. To shoot that ball as hard as he did? Steve Carrell face cringe. Efren can do anything on the table.
Most times that I 420, something in this beautiful universe surprises me.
It would be a dream to play with bata, i dont think i could sit if i were playing to be that close to a legened and possibly miss anything he could teach would be tragic

When I saw the score was8-6 Peru, I knew efren had lost this match…his eyes failing him the second time,maybe he should have been more rested for his match…..
Contrary to the statement of commentstors at 2:19 time that they have not seen Efren do jump. There was a game i sae Efren Jump. In 2003 WPC against Oliver Ortmann, he did the Jump. Thats the only time i saw him use a Jump stick.

Actually there are videos on TH-cam showing Efren jumping three different times. Probably in my Efren playlist somewhere. His mastery of massé, using side pocket tit, and some of the weirdest English that few have ever figured out. I recall Rempe and Incardona utterly gob smacked by some of his manilulations of spin, draw, stun and follow with no explanation as to what he just did or how he did it. And I'm not just talking about the famous "Z" shot either.
42:44 that shot I've been told requires middle top, no English. It induces thereby clockwise (left) spin on the object ball so it rolls into the hole off the visible side of the pocket. If you attempt to use left spin of the cue ball to get better position, it will induce right or counterclockwise spin on the object ball and it will rattle in the pocket and not drop. Depending somewhat on speed or force used. I'm surprised Efren used any spin at all.

Think the Fargo rate system needs a overhaul. Martinez can almost string 5 balls together and his fargo rate is just 20 point from Ko pin-yi which is a tournament winner and strings more racks together than Martinez strings balls ?

@@archico01 yeah, and with inside too :). I might try to flirt with the 9 as well and hope for the best but he actually saw the exact way it's coming off of it and took an extra risk of extreme inside to end up in a perfect position.

Not impressed with the commentators! They discuss non-relevant topics vs. what is going on with the match they are watching! Looks like an attempt to display their knowledge of the history of recent matches, accomplishments, etc. of pro. pool players than the match in front of them!
