I did not have 50 Cent’s return to music on the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop bingo card, but here we are. I know there’ll be an audience for this, but I probably won’t check this out until the singles hit. Good job giving us the post-Graduation/Curtis career of 50 Cent, Justin-you always know how to sum these things up.
That Cam rant on the radio back in the day was legendary.. Currrtis Currrtis... Did that inspire the album title Curtis? Almost sure it was something like that.
Yep. That album was actually going to be called Before I self Destruct. Then the rant happened, and Fif turned it into his album title. If I'm not mistaken. But yeah, that was a legendary moment.
Get Rich Or Die Trying, Power Of The Dollar, Guess Who's Back, 50 Cent Is The Future, Automatic Gunfire, God's Plan, G Unit Radio Volumes One Through Eight, And The Get Rich Or Die Trying Soundtrack are all highs for 50.
i dont believe 50 will ever be as commercially succesful as he was before but what he can do is do what alot of rap vets have been doing, where we get a much more introspectve album, a grown up 50 cent dropping jewels and reminiscing on his career highs and lows so far, like 4;44 or purple tape 2.
Just finished his book. I've been seeing 50 Cent in a new light recently. Always knew he was brilliant but I think he's underrated as a businessman, strategist and as a philosopher.
I am a massive 50 fan. I still remember the first time I heard Get Rich or Die Tryin. I wore that CD out! Dare I call it an instant classic. Mr. Cent has indeed reinvented himself with a great percentage of success and gone through a lot to do it. I am hopeful for his triumphant return to the pinical of the rap world... but I not allowing myself to get excited for his upcoming projects. He has so many irons in the fire right now that I worry if he has the bandwidth to really execute on a game changing album. The counter to that is, that he si already operating at such a high level in so many other areas that it might just carry over to a new album. I am hopeful for something great... but not expecting it.
It's a tough balance to maintain. In my opinion, it took Jay a while to adjust. I wasn't sold on Nas' run until Kings Disease 2. I think Fif has taken enough time away from an album that he could have a lot of ideas in the chamber. Plus Dre is still great at making hits. It'll be fun to see as a 50 cent fan.
@@TheCompanyMan no doubt that he has ideas stacked up to no end at this point, and Dre being in the equation is epic. But I also feel like a lot of great projects have died under Dre. A few I can think of off the top of my head, Eve, Rakim, and Raekwon come to mind. All were signed to aftermath and didn't have any work product to show for their time there. Is it possible that could happen with this 50 project?
@@IdeaStudioBKK I don't think 50 would let that happen. As story goes, he had to take his tracks for Get Rich back to New York to finish the album because Dre didn't think it was ready.
This reminds me of how recently, dipset claimed they started the mixtape trend instead of G unit. Would be really interesting for you to do a breakdown on mixtapes in hip hop. Even Mackaveli the 7 day theory was considered to be released as a mixtape.
I only listened to alternative rock until I heard In Da Club on the radio. It's been basically hip-hop since then. I think part of the reason for 50 not being as popular or his last two projects not reaching the success his previous projects did was that gangsta rap stopped being as popular.
"I look at the new artists that embody the streets like they're the new 50 Cent." That was his answer right there. Not that you should forget about your day 1s, but at some point, it's about bringing them up with you, instead of forcing yourself to stay at that level. Force them to learn a skill and give them a spot in one of your companies. Teach a man how to fish instead of buying them a lambo boat. Bringing it back to music; your image has to serve you, it can't be a prison. You have to give yourself the freedom to have a multi-faceted personnality, that can grow and change. Around the time GRODT dropped, me and my 7 years old friends at the time were so sold on his gangster image that we were legitimately scared when he toured in our city. But that's not how I view 50 Cent anymore; he's a business mogul, he's petty in a hilarious way, he's got a fair amount of wisdom that he shares in a very approachable way, and he grew out of the street life. He was able to leverage all those facets of his personnality and more to succeed in so many different ventures. He has not leveraged them in his music though, and I'm hyped up on the perspective of, say, a more goofy, yet more mature 50 album, not too concerned with the streets or beef. Let's see if he can pull that off!
A bunch of people think 50 is overrated, I put him in my top 100 fave rappers of all time both UK and US (and Swedish) and someone said 50 didn’t belong and I remember Fantano always saying that 50 and get rich or die tryin are overrated and not incredible But if anyone is saying life’s on the line isn’t one of the greatest hip-hop tracks of all time then to quote a very wise man “punch yourself in the face”
I thought this would never happen. For a decade, I’ve sat and thought how awesome it would be for 50 Cent to reunite with Dr. Dre and made one more album with the producer that helped make his first classic. Do you know Eminem is going to be on this record too so it’s really going to feel like a homecoming. I completely understand why he quit doing music for so long. 50 Cent was the last person not just in hip-hop but in music. That was ever going to sell 8 million copies of an album. People said he fell off and they weren’t into his music anymore when his third album came out but I don’t think that’s true. Because it’s not like Kanye West sold 7 million copies and he only sold 1 million. From the time get Rich or die trying came out to the time Curtis came out. People had decided they weren’t buying physical albums anymore. So it’s not that he fell off it’s just that at that time people were getting their music off the Internet. But the haters were going to constantly point out his albums worth selling like they used to which is a bullshit argument considering the time. So I don’t blame him for making his money elsewhere. But I think enough time has passed that people have decided that they really miss him as a rapper and working with Dr. Dre again, this is going to be a special project and I can’t wait to buy this one .
To approach the concept of reinvention from another angle, I've always considered 50 the master of product. I don't see him reinventing himself as much as I see an individual mogul with an ever diversifying line of products. I know from interviews that he considers himself more of a songwriter than a "lyricist" because as you breakdown he always likes to back up his actions with specific purpose. From songs to albums to his achievements outside of music, he excels at packaging his products distinctly, promoting their launch, and expanding the niches he hits in the market every time. To me 'Get Rich or Die Trying' is the rap equivalent of Coke Classic. I wouldn't call his later work New Coke necessarily, but I do think people resent the diversification of his catalogue out of love for the original formula. I think his approach has made him one of the greats, but it also creates a feeling of corporate detachment for me. I'm excited for new music and especially if it is with Dr. Dre, but I'm never expecting Coca-Cola to start selling a soda I better than Coke.

The will power and passion for the hustle 50 has is superhuman. He didn't become one of the guys talking about 'Back in the day' and acting like he paid his dues and wasn't gonna work for it anymore. He just keeps going, and if something doesn't go well he doesn't sulk, just shrugs and goes "So?" and moves on to the next. That's real self belief; not caring if your music career isn't top tier anymore and just moving on. If your business takes a hit, throwing away pride and filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy, restructure and starting over. Even with social media. He hopped on it himself and wasn't fake having publicists do it. Joking, airing out beef, and he even memed on himself when his chapter 11 bankruptcy happened and had people trying to hate on him.
I love that about 50. His book 50th law dives deep into that mindset and he's never wavered publicly since I've read it. It's super inspiring to me and something I admire about him. Great analysis.
50's book Hustle Harder Hustle Smarter is a must read and I've listened to the audio version which is even better hearing it from his mouth. You will understand everything about 50 after that book 💯.
You left out how 50 has been dropping Hit records via his TV shows: Big Rich Town, Part of the Game, Power Powder Respect, and Wish Me Luck ARe ALL 🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋 #MASTAPIECE2023
While I agree Baltimore Love Thing is his more imaginative song, His song "Crazy" (released as a single a few years ago) showcased a vulnerability and a rawness that he was never able to put on display in any previous body of work, I am really hoping get more of that in the upcoming album
To answer your last question: "thoughts on 50 returning?" •I'd say 1. I want to hear/see what he looks & sounds like having grown up with him and having witnessed this reinvention of himself from 02'-23' 2. Those singles, loosies, features intrigue slightly for the ones that were fresh or quality. Being said, his bit of work with Conway/Griselda would and should be utilized. Especially if it's under/alongside Dre. •Picture it's Alc/Daringer/Cunducta w/Griselda(Main 3), Stove God Cook$, Boldy, Armani-all in unison with 50? Could/would be nasty And mind you, this isn't considering whoever else 50 & Dre & or even Em would bring in. Needless to say, I'm excited
Hard for anybody to stay as hot as 50 was . seeing that with Drake now he still relevant his reign seem like its winding down. I still think 50 make good music probably doesn't get the attention it deserves
Excellent video I'm happy that 50 is returning to music and working with Dre and em again. The question is will get new York City's own bad guy 50 or troll 50?
Doctor Dre is ALWAYS recording something with, well, EVERYONE, yet we, the public, see nothing of it. Therefore, my stance on all things Dre is, "I'll believe it when I see it." Same thing with 50 cent, albeit with much lower expectations, because, while Dre's Compton was arguably the producers most underrated and BEST album, 50's output has been long delayed and underwhelming. Animal Ambition was mediocre at best. Maybe a Dre produced album could be great...but does it matter if we never get to hear that greatness?
The 2015 Kanan tape was good. His 2012 Lost tape mixtape was good as well. 2009 Forver King Mixtape is his second best mixtape. That mixtape is unique. Listen to it. It will be your top 5 favorite body of work.
Not sure if becomes a hit when it comes out. It will need a list of credible features for it to hit. Not expecting a King's Diesease or 4:44 for this release though.
Justin, didn’t hear you mention it but the Lost Tape mixtape 50 did back in 2012 has some excellent tracks on it. Double Up and Complicated are standouts for me. 50 sounds hungry and inspired throughout most of the tracks there. I think if 50 wants to he can still make great work but when you’ve climbed the mountain and reach the highest high the hunger that initially drove that greatness is just gone, and can’t be replicated. Which is what makes Nas’ resurgence so crazy!
Great point. I didn't mention Animal Ambition either. Not to say that those projects weren't solid or didnt' have good music on them, but that they just didn't impact the way most expect. BISD is a solid album to me as well. But you're right, Lost Tape had some joints on it. Thanks for the analysis.
What's wild is how 50 pivots from one facet business to another and dominates that lane. I believe in the power of the half dollar. Quick story time: I remember trying to cop Get Rich and how hard it was to find a copy. 50 was popping in Mississippi. I had an official visit to Mississippi State on the album release and tried to find it. No luck. So days later, my auntie goes to one of the music stores and finds it. My fam is watching 106 and Park and she walks in not realizing how popular and hard to find the album was. In high school I was the man homie. The plug for Get Rich or Die Trying. Let's just say the last few months of senior year, I had a lot friends.
J, can you please put some merch out? I wanna support but but don't have the ends to justify throwing money at the internet. I do have ends for a tshirt, though.
Fif a genius. I just started listening to his recent book. Maaan he's got hella gems in there (Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter). I believe Get Rich or Die Tryin, Get Rich or Die Tryin (Sound Track), and Before I Self Destruct are his dopest albums.
Guess Who's Back is still my favorite mixtape til this day. Huge 50 fan. He basically took the blueprint Pac laid out n ran with it. Buut i don't like the shit the kids are listening to nowadays. As soon as I hear autotune its a skip for me. N I'm not into that spinning the block, lookin for ops drill shit. If 50 comes out I have a feeling he's gonna do shit the kids are listening to
50 drop Before I Self Destruct after Curtis and was much better than Curtis... BISD was the last old school gangsta rap album, and the hardest rap album of the last 14 years.... Curtis sold more than Graduation world wide.... in 2010 he made the invitation tour with before i self destruct, biggest rap tour in 2010,, his new album will be Street King Immortal in my opinion
Yo The company Man podcast we need 50 cent New album in 2023 produce by Dr Dre and have feature with Eminem new songs on the album that is coming out in 2023
This is a development when it’s awesome to be a nobody… Frankly, I couldn’t imagine a project by 50 that would pique a minimal amount of interest from me. I used to do a lot of boxing commentary, and then being a sports fan in general, and Fif has clearly lost several steps with the pen, or on the mic. My main issue with Fif’s most recent material is, he’s a decade-plus removed from remotely being involved with any of his go-to subject matter. Unfortunately, I just can’t get over how disingenuous his rapping comes off as, and I don’t think some Dre beats can overcome that detail. Fif spittin with some wordplay or requisite emcee skills is like Deontay Wilder trying to stick & move on some slick boxing… just ain’t gonna work.
Dope vid Just, as a heavily invested fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’ve been telling ppl 50 created a shared universe outside of marvel that works lol
@@TheCompanyMan facts Justin, there’s a community out there that loves to spew hate towards comic book/ superhero films, yet what they don’t realize comic books offer great storytelling hence why comic book films have taken their rightful place
50 musically been stale for a decade plus, i hope he can come back with a quality project because im not interested in him making shows or just being a glorified commentator on current events and drama
Curtis is my least favorite. It's still 50 but its just a product of an era I didnt enjoy Self Destruct is my 2nd favorite, theres a few misses but that shit is hardbody most of the way through
I'm sorry but today 50 is washed and does not understand the current music world. He mocked Megan the Stallion and any other artist that isn't either his protegee or of one of his friends. The new gen doesn't care and won't want a new album, so it's good he at least knows only the older guys would hear it but I don't think even them would hear much it's gonna flop.
He has a lot of young people that watch his shows. That's an edge that works in his benefit in my opinion. Make the right songs and drop them in BMF and you never know how far they can fly. It's a tough environment but he has the infrastructure setup to navigate in this terrain.
Really good breakdown sir 🫡 But I'm not sure if 50 really needs to put out another album. He's one of the few artists of his generation who managed to stay relevant by doing other things then music. So in my opinion his next album should be top tier. Otherwise it will damage 50s brand. And I'm not sure that 50 Cent got it in him. But I hope for the best.
Hearing him return to working with Dre gives me hope. That's when he made his most impactful music. I liked the way he talked about approaching music from different perspectives. I can't front, I'm curious about what he's cooking up.
Never been a fan of his personality but cannot deny him being one of the most successful rap artists in hip hop history. I'm looking forward to what potential magic him and Dre have cooked up and I'm even more excited for KD4 which I had a sneaky suspicion there would be but I didn't foresee a Nas and 50 collab
It's an incredible read, honestly. I'm pissed because either someone stole my copy or I lent it to someone and forgot about it. Probably for the best. Whoever has it probably needed and the book is worth buying twice.
Although I admit he reinvents himself (gangster/rapper/ business man/T.V mogul) I don't he reinvented himself as a rapper. However I don't think he has really tried since C.U.R.T.I.S (it seemed he didn't know where to go musically and so he just threw shit at the wall to see what stuck) .However I am looking forward to a Fiddy /Dre lp.Ace vid Justin ,hope you are o.k bruv.Take care my man P.S everyone forgets about The Get Rich or Die Trying Soundtrack lp it's a compilation but Fiddys presence is all over it ,its a great lp Oh and Baltimore Love Thing is an incredible creative tune
Thanks JC. I think 50 is aware and is willing to try something new that works within his framework. Definitely interested to hear new Fif. The genre is more interesting when he's in it. How you been, man?
@@TheCompanyMan O.k thank you for asking, all the better for having a video from you every Saturday, I will definitely check a new 50 and Dre joint.Take care my friend
@TheCompanyMan I seen that video that went viral where the dude said Jay-Z has more of an impact on hip hop but I'd disagree....Jay-Z investments are usually outside of Hip Hop while Eminem usually does everything for Hip Hop, even 8-Mile and the traction it brought to battle rap, the t-shirts he wears of old school rappers, shade45 ect
The rapping from diffrent perspecrives were on hus Get Rich or Die trying movie sountrack album. 3 songs below are good 50 cent -Talk about Me 50 cent- What If 50 cent-Clue/50

I'll check out the audio book. Thanks OFFH.
You left out how 50 has been dropping Hit records via his TV shows: Big Rich Town, Part of the Game, Power Powder Respect, and Wish Me Luck ARe ALL 🌋🌋🌋🌋🌋 #MASTAPIECE2023
It would make me really happy if 50 goes platinum with this album.
Love this deep dive breakdown. Superb execution.
Much appreciated!
TBD coming back is a gift. IT´S ALL HAPPENING
KING'S DISEASE 4 LET'S GOOO🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Justin said, I had it (50 cent Cologne), women liked it! 😂😂😂
I love this work you've done, 50 is the greatest to me. Nice truth my friend
Thank you!
Waking up early to watch Jus reminds me of Saturday morning cartoons!
Thank you!
@@TheCompanyMan Naw Jus, Thank you!!
Wearing 50 cent cologne is just nasty work Justin.
It's all happening 🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️🤷🏿♂️
While I agree Baltimore Love Thing is his more imaginative song, His song "Crazy" (released as a single a few years ago) showcased a vulnerability and a rawness that he was never able to put on display in any previous body of work, I am really hoping get more of that in the upcoming album
Yes! I'm checking it out!
Enjoyable listen Thanks .
I'm stoked. Lets get it, 50!
To answer your last question: "thoughts on 50 returning?"
•I'd say 1. I want to hear/see what he looks & sounds like having grown up with him and having witnessed this reinvention of himself from 02'-23'
Could/would be nasty
And mind you, this isn't considering whoever else 50 & Dre & or even Em would bring in.
Needless to say, I'm excited
Hard for anybody to stay as hot as 50 was . seeing that with Drake now he still relevant his reign seem like its winding down. I still think 50 make good music probably doesn't get the attention it deserves
Yo I’m excited for 50s feature on KD4.
Me too. that's gonna be dope.
Yooo Just can you do a rise and collapse of Slaughterhouse?
50 is great. His last song with Post Malone was 🔥. He still has it in him. Watching him transformation had been great.
The man is a great great song.
Bisd is really underrated I went back and listened to and 50 was spittin fr🔥🐐
-Get A Billi Or Die Tryin'-
That should be the title. Can't wait for this...
Not sure if becomes a hit when it comes out. It will need a list of credible features for it to hit. Not expecting a King's Diesease or 4:44 for this release though.
baby by me sold 500k copies Curtis sold 3 m copies and before i self destruct sold 1 million copies.
Nice Jake Paul Outkast reference
Glad you caught that 🏆🏆🏆
Justin, didn’t hear you mention it but the Lost Tape mixtape 50 did back in 2012 has some excellent tracks on it.
Yeah everyone is recording a full album with Dre and then their album comes out and there are zero Dre songs on it.
Auntie to the rescue!!!! Ha! Yeah man, I got my copy from stealing it from a street vendor durning mardi gras. Best album I ever snatched.
J, can you please put some merch out? I wanna support but but don't have the ends to justify throwing money at the internet. I do have ends for a tshirt, though.
I hope 50 brings less gangsta raps to his. newer projects, only because it became repetitive after his first two albums. I want a lyrically mature 50.
What does 50 have to offer this generation of consumers?
Fif a genius. I just started listening to his recent book. Maaan he's got hella gems in there (Hustle Harder, Hustle Smarter). I believe Get Rich or Die Tryin, Get Rich or Die Tryin (Sound Track), and Before I Self Destruct are his dopest albums.
Agreed on all front. BISD was super solid. Just didn't have hits. That soundtrack deserves waaaaaaaay more credit.
If 50 comes out I have a feeling he's gonna do shit the kids are listening to
Something special..... Unforgetable
50 Cent... Justin.... Timba....oh wait
lit ep.
150k FIRST WEEK is EMBARRASSING? lol come on now
50 drop Before I Self Destruct after Curtis and was much better than Curtis...
What if he had a stake in Graduation?
That’d be the best thing to happen in Hip-hop!
He should only remix his greatest hits.
RIP Pop Smoke
I'm the Man is DOOOOOOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nah 50 will never sell over 10 million copies of a album again
I'm interested in hearing new 50 material.
Me too.
50 is gonna make grodt 2
Fif spittin with some wordplay or requisite emcee skills is like Deontay Wilder trying to stick & move on some slick boxing… just ain’t gonna work.
even drake cant sell 500k copies of a album anymore
I’m going to Self destruct from all this punching myself in the face
Ha!
Dope vid Just, as a heavily invested fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’ve been telling ppl 50 created a shared universe outside of marvel that works lol
It's amazing how he did that, right? Dude is an awesome storyteller in any format. That's why I so intersted in his new music.
@@TheCompanyMan facts Justin, there’s a community out there that loves to spew hate towards comic book/ superhero films, yet what they don’t realize comic books offer great storytelling hence why comic book films have taken their rightful place
50 Cent lowkey is a gangster/business Donald Glover.
Love the comparison. Imagine Fif doing stand up comedy!
50 musically been stale for a decade plus, i hope he can come back with a quality project because im not interested in him making shows or just being a glorified commentator on current events and drama
Not quite, his 2015 Kanan Tape went Gold and was good.
Please get rid of the ticker!
what don't you like about it?
Curtis is my least favorite. It's still 50 but its just a product of an era I didnt enjoy
Self Destruct is my 2nd favorite, theres a few misses but that shit is hardbody most of the way through
I thought BISD was a solid album. Just didn't have any hits on it, which was unusual for Fif.
50 cent new album? 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Omaha steaks aren't good?? Never had one btw so......serious question
I didn't think I'd see another 50 album in my lifetime.
ME NEITHER!!!!
Really good breakdown sir 🫡
But I'm not sure if 50 really needs to put out another album.
@@TheCompanyMan but it's not like Dre been super active or prolific lately 😅
Yeah, I'm curious too for sure
Anyway, how are you doing? How's life?
Never been a fan of his personality but cannot deny him being one of the most successful rap artists in hip hop history. I'm looking forward to what potential magic him and Dre have cooked up and I'm even more excited for KD4 which I had a sneaky suspicion there would be but I didn't foresee a Nas and 50 collab
Did not know 50 wrote a book back during the recession, will punch myself in the face
However I don't think he has really tried since C.U.R.T.I.S (it seemed he didn't know where to go musically and so he just threw shit at the wall to see what stuck) .However I am looking forward to a Fiddy /Dre lp.Ace vid Justin ,hope you are o.k bruv.Take care my man
P.S everyone forgets about The Get Rich or Die Trying Soundtrack lp it's a compilation but Fiddys presence is all over it ,its a great lp
Oh and Baltimore Love Thing is an incredible creative tune
Hey, a breakdown on Jay Z vs Eminem and who's more crucial to the culture. Who's more true to the culture
Do you think one is more true to the culture than the other?
@TheCompanyMan I seen that video that went viral where the dude said Jay-Z has more of an impact on hip hop but I'd disagree....Jay-Z investments are usually outside of Hip Hop while Eminem usually does everything for Hip Hop, even 8-Mile and the traction it brought to battle rap, the t-shirts he wears of old school rappers, shade45 ect
The rapping from diffrent perspecrives were on hus Get Rich or Die trying movie sountrack album.
3 songs below are good
50 cent -Talk about Me
50 cent- What If
50 cent-Clue/50
He's done it a few different times in his career. In his quote he mentions that then mentions to pushing even further. 50 is a talented MC. It's easy to lose sight of that somehow.
Promo'SM
Haa haaa fif laugh. Lol. Fif still slicing and dicing.
