I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry which is a Gay Movie which I threw into the trash. 🗑️I kept Billy Madison the second Billy Madison movie because it was together on the same disc as I only bought it for Happy Gilmore.
I really want to buy the MCU and Star Wars TV series 4K or Blu-rays but refuse to pay the ridiculous prices. That they are only releasing them as steel books and in such small numbers to gouge the fans just makes it all the more insulting. The "collectors items" is only an excuse and is why I do not like people using the term "collectors". We weren't considered collectors when we bought our favourite films and TV in the pre-streaming days.

Now Disney has announced Willow 4K the film from 1988 as a 65 dollar steelbook,lol. So it's more of the same just like Mando season 3 and Ahsoka. But i've been asking for Willow but expected it to 35.99 or something not almost 70 dollars.
As long as collectors buy pre-orders out at these prices, they will NOT come down. I’ll be honest, it feels weird not buying as often as I used to. I used to buy something weekly..not anymore. On the other hand, it has made me realize I can save money. These high prices are making me realize I don’t need as much as I thought I needed.

While these Steelbooks from the big studios are the worst offenders, it's just a part of a bigger problem. Sets like the Neverending Story or that Texas Chainsaw set are almost as bad. Despite fewer of us buying now, we're getting squeezed as collectors to make physical media as profitable as possible. What sucks is I feel like we all feel like we should be buying this stuff to make sure we keep getting physical media releases, yet if we support this price inflation, we may end up pricing most normal collectors right out of the hobby.

I say don't support this or if steel books are too expensive to make then they'll just stopped making them and to me that's fine. I'd rather 4K Blu-rays come without our work as an alternate or have arrows specials editions that come with a book and hard case. But even with arrow there were few movies I wanted in that package. I'm not going to pre-order at the high prices for sure. I want pre-order unless it's under 30. I think the ideal price for a steelbook is 25. Maybe 30 Topps. 35 is really pushing in anything over that is bullshit!

@megamikethemovieman $35.00 tops no higher, and that's for a newer recent release from theaters. Older catalog titles should be no more than $20.00 to $25.00. It was just a year or so ago that almost all 4K steelbooks were going for that much, especially Lionsgate, now a decent price is $35.00 from Lionsgate. That's why I stopped buying them. The only steelbooks I buy now are the Disney plus streaming shows 4K, like Star Wars and Marvel. But I wait until the price drops below $50.00.
I feel this is only the beginning,here in Belgium the prices of new physical media are going up all the time A new dvd of an older movie is 9,99 €,Furiosa 4k no steelbook 38€.
@@vanstraelendyeah for all the people getting back into physical media I feel sorry for them if these are the new prices because other than new films I own everything I want and I tend to wait till Black Friday sales for new releases.

This is just discouraging new people to start collecting their favorite films. I hope this doesn’t continue, but this is the reason why I mainly buy used unless I absolutely love love the movie I don’t buy it new.
@megamikethemovieman I definitely have run into disc issues and typically I am able to exchange it for another one. Oddly though, I’ve ran into more issues with Blu-rays more than DVDs which is odd to me.
@ That is odd. Blu-ray has been least issues for me interesting enough. Most issues for me have been with 4Ks. I wonder if there’s a pattern out there with what format has more issues or is it all random?
@megamikethemovieman Hate to say but I bought Oppenheimer on 4K for $26.00, but to my defense the Blu-ray was $24.00. I thought hell with it Oppenheimer is only my second 4K disc I own. I am at the pawn shop, second hand store, never find anything at Goodwill though. Any disc I will pay $10.00 or under for. $10.00-$20.00 I may be able to find it cheaper. $20.00 and up how much do I need it, for me I rarely ever need it. The last pawn shop I went to DVD was $0.25, Blu-ray $3.00 I walked out with a pile of discs 33 if I remember correctly for $44.00.

Exactly I hope there's not people out there but have fomo or want to be the only person with the steelbook. I feel as collectors we should not support this and stand together. Even people that can afford it. Because even if a person makes a lot of money they can only buy so many movies at 50 dollars a piece.

Seems so! I think the first Loki Steelbook released in Aug or Sept of 2023, a year and some change ago.
