I'm cleaning up my 73 beetle changing the seals. I ordered a kit that was supposed to come with the outer cap seals but it's just the axle seals. Do you have any supply source for the outter seal. One of mine has been worn through between the output shaft and the CV shaft (unusable). None of the local parts houses can find what I'm looking for.
how did you get that seal in so easy i bought new seal and totaaly mangled them trying to hammer them in with a 36 mm socket and had to buy another set i cant believ how easy ours went in.
A little oil on the tranny as well as the seal then having a straight shot is a must. Maybe you had some bad seals. Not all sources are good. Good Luck with your projects
Try a small pick or screwdriver along the edge to pry it out. Sometimes you can dig in the middle without going threw and pull it up.. If you make a hole you should replace them and if you don't they will always leak and make a mess. They are cheap. Just order them with your gasket kit.
I've been needing to take a look at the flywheel seal anyway. I feel I owe it to everyone to see if that project tranny works and I remembered how to do a tune up. Looking forward to your next build. Boy, those heads cleaned up sweet!
"That" Seal/Spring MOD was out of this world... just saying Completely reasonable 'reasoning' IMHO. Very creative.
Thanks for showing the spacer placement. That was the one part in my spare tranny that I couldn't sort out.
Glad it helped somebody. I keep thinking I'm going into to much detail.
Ford engineers used to have us snip the seal springs on problem leaks it seemed to always take care of it.
What exact aviation sealer do you use?
Good stuff EZ.
thanks, You are a loyal friend and I appreciate it.

Weddle and Rancho are the big dogs but you can still find places that sell them.

I was just going to change the seals as the gaskets were replaced by someone. Thanks again.
