As an IT student, this is extremely helpful. It’s necessary to get internship and work experience as soon as possible. Certifications holds more weight than a degree, but a degree is a cherry on top to fill that checkbox for higher IT positions.
I have business bachelor's and supply chain management master's. Learned SQL, Python, Flask, Django, Docker on the side. Made a blog as a project with python backend. Got an internship, now working as a Dev. At first I thought my degrees won't help at all, but I feel like they did in a way.
Between both Shane’s & Josh’s channel, I made a decision to transfer to WGU for my BS in Data Management & Analytics degree. I’m saving a ton of money & time, best decision I’ve made! Thank you both for amazing content!
Curious guys, what do you want to do specifically after you receive your WGU degree? I'm thinking of Data Engineering but I can't tell if CS or IT is better? Which niche are you all interested in, if any at this stage?
@@nathanknight6042 I’m already a working professional in Financial Services mainly doing Process Management. I’m completing my bachelors to ensure I continue to advance in my career. I already do tons of data analysis in my current role but hoping the program helps me to advance my data analytics skills.
If you are considering getting both an IT degree and business degree, I would recommend getting one degree that is centered on both. There are some business degrees that are focused on Computer Science, like Computer Information Systems, IT Management, Management Information Systems, or Information Systems Technology.
My school does have a CIS degree it’s just regular information Systems that’s the closest but I agree if they offered all of those variations I would’ve picked MIS or IT management instead of regular IT which is still good but those other ones give you a taste of business topics as well
I graduated with a BS in networking from a local university. I can’t find a job to save my life. I don’t have any certifications because it doesn’t seem worth the time if I do not see entry level jobs for it.
You can't. They will get your application with your degrees and transferable skills and say yeah, this looks good but this guy worked in this company for 5 years. Ok, choose him. If there is no experience on the application you don't even qualify for the interview
Josh has a lot of good videos. If you plan on working IT Support/Helpdesk. I usually tell someone to look at comptia a+ because some companies may or may not ask for it. It depends on the company. You don't need a degree to work IT but it definitely helps the resume and ats system.

I am not sure if Shane remembers, but I was the one who suggested doing interviews with real world professionals. Thanks Shane! You are hustling
Nice 😊

This surprises me. What are your criteria for a job?

I've been following your videos for a a couple months, I really liked this one in particular. Saludos desde Colombia.

You can't. They will get your application with your degrees and transferable skills and say yeah, this looks good but this guy worked in this company for 5 years. Ok, choose him. If there is no experience on the application you don't even qualify for the interview
Great video. Thumbs up!
Get a information systems degree
Im currently studying to attain a Business MIS degree, is this a good degree?
Hey could you make a video about microbiology it would really help me out as no one really discusses it
What type of business degree? Is it anything in general?
You can do Computer Information System (CIS)
thanks shane
Is economics a business degree?
Yes
What do you think would be a better minor for Finance, Accounting or Economics?
1. Accounting
2. Finances
Economics is pretty useless
Statistics, Data Science, or anything tech related. Various of these majors are a bit weak on the technical aspect.
@@SabrinaDacosta why do you say that about economics
@@brandonwhite2920 Because CPA, CFA... but no such thing as CEA...gotta have those tangibles brah
It sounds like you can even get in with a useless degree.
Typical jobs for people with a psychology degree?
Ux researcher
