The bike in this video is a 1996 XV750, but the turn signals are virtually identical on all Yamaha Virago models. Original bulb part number: STANLEY-12v32A3CP.B.HN Replacement: SYLVANIA 1157
Also, little side note here, when you said the bulb wasn’t seating properly, I notice that the socket was still pretty corroded, I would’ve just sprayed it with e generous amount of CRC automotive electronics cleaner, that probably would’ve fixed the issue faster so you wouldn’t have to finagle around with the seating of the Bulb as much as I’m certain you probably did. I use CRC AECC all the time on pretty much all my electronics, it’s also plastic safe, so I use it to clean the contact points of the electronics in a lot of my video game controllers, and after that, stuff like the analogue stick function flawlessly after a few sprays
I see this is a common problem, my 04 VStar 1100 classic has the same problem currently, but I’ll definitely be trying this, it’s a very comprehensive tutorial
Great video. Just a tip.... that water that leaked when you took the amber lens off, is probably the cause of all the corosion in your bulb holder. A shot of WD40 would help in removing the bulb, and a smear of dielectric grease will help prevent future corosion. I would try to find the source of the water ingress and seal it. Cheers.
Excellent point. It was pretty crusty in there and certainly could’ve used a more thorough cleaning. The bike is garage kept now so I’m not as worried about water ingress.
Look like as many others in the comments I am also having this same mysterious water accumulation. Doesn't anyone know how or why it's getting in there?
