I think a lot of people fail to remember that this isn’t some sort of deep dive into the game, it’s a first impression, and your personal feelings. If you don’t agree that is fine, however telling someone they are wrong for a personal opinion is showing more about the community of this game then it’s showing about his not wanting to do a deep dive.

Just because your level 40 doesn’t mean your character is maxed out. You have to use Crystallization catalysts to assign module slot in your descendant module. Then it’ll reset your character back to lvl 1. And you keep repeating the process.. also you don’t need to get the same character over again unless it’s an ultimate version.

Yea man, your char and gus get reset to 40 several times and evwry time you get more mod capacity. The mods are not a small optional thing, they are the backbone of the whole game.

I'm gonna be in the assumption that looter shooters aren't your genre.
While I don't mind different opinions but this game is far off from forcing you to pay for anything the game offers and it's the misinformation you give that might give new people who watch your video first reconsider not wanting to try. If you do that, it beats the purpose of TFD in general, meaning the game failed as a live service. You don't need to buy any of the Descendants unless there's a reason to. You can grind for them but only after you've finished the Main Story (the minute you unlock Hard Mode is when you know you are there). In your state, there's no reason to grind for any of the Descendants' materials right now. Use whatever you have, go from there. Stay with Lepic if need be or grind Bunny since she's the easiest to get for a starter Descendant.
The core of the game is its pinnacle content. Story? Forgettable, it was never its biggest suit, it was fine first 1/4 of the game then it just goes all over the place on the remaining quarter. There's no endgame as of now (though many will assume once you have Hard Mode unlock you are essentially in endgame, it's not). You grind for other Descendants this way, even weapons, reactors etc. Also, while the Descendant/Weapon caps at level 40, you still need to "prestige" your character by giving it Catalysts and Activators to developed the character further. You buildcraft that character whether you want it to be tanky, or a crazy DPS character but sacrificing your HP, etc. You're only struggling because you stopped at 40 and didn't do anything else for Lepic.
Also, Lepic isn't just a "guy who only throws grenades". His Skill 2 buffs his grenades even more. His Skill 3 is a crowd control that sucks ads like a vacuum. Skill 4 is Bomb go brr. Tool kits are there to understand them more.
Lastly, like yourself, I'm a casual but I used to play Destiny and Warframe prior to The First Descendant so this game felt like second nature, just need to get used to the game's own gameplay. As for the cash shop, the only one I bought aside from cosmetics was only Ultimate Freyna Bundle, due to the fact that I main her normal variant and because she's my bias. I got Ultimate versions of Bunny and Valby through gameplay alone. It's grindy, but doable. As I said prior, don't need to buy them unless there's a reason you want a certain Descendant badly but would rather if you don't since you can still get everything in-game. Just because I do doesn't mean I'm encouraging other people do as well.
I'm not saying give this game another chance if you already uninstall it but if you don't give it another try with a different mindset. There are guides out there on how to build a Descendant and weapons. All you need in terms of investment is only time, not money. I do apologize if this comment is a bit long, it's that misinformation straying far away from the game's core that triggers me to do so. I'm not mad or angry per se, just startled at how far from the truth the video was.

I am a fan of Looter shooters I gave a lot of my time to games like Division, Division 2, Destiny 2 and even warframe when it first came out and I don't mind a grind as I said in the video I play Mmo's as my go to game to relax so I am used to grinding for something to get something out of the outcome, and I went into this game not to review it but to have something to play because I missed the looter shooter and the game reminded me of Destiny 2. But after playing for as long as I did and felt I needed to give it a review, and yes I know not everyone is going to agree with my review but I also approach all my reviews the same way as objective and not biased against something. I look at it from the point of view of someone curious of the game and what it has to offer and gives both pros and cons and let the viewer decide if they want to invest the time and energy into the game.
In the end this is just one person's opinion and I know I am not the only one which is why it is standing currently at mixed on Steam. But I do apperciate the feedback as well.

31:32 - weapons are underpowered? your weapon is underpowered... your Thunder Cage is easily the best weapon for grinding but you haven't invested enough in it, to unlock some potential. The meat & potatoes are in Hard mode. this game is not for you if you're not about that Hard mode life... its not even Hard like it claims to be. honestly, you just didn't invest enough time on both your weapons and character.

Not saying you can't have these opinions. But if you follow a few beginners guides and take your time do not rush it. It will go much smoother. I hit endgame in just over a week casually and am decently far in only four weeks in. Few tips combine every module you get (at first) it helps you get lots of random ones. Two focus on the main campaign and side missions (most of them) directly the speed up progress also difficulty in normal mode was oddly lowered recently so you should have no trouble getting through it now. Hope this helps hf

I watched your whole video and I don't agree with a lot of your points with the game. Your video is full of misinformation. The games not as grindy as your dating it is. You're big issue is with scaling but it sounds like you're not modding your characters which explains why you're struggling so much. There are key parts of the game that you are way off on.

i get what you're both saying but i think what you're missing is that this struggle your feeling literally evaporates once you start modding.
It's frustrating to hear because it makes the game seem a lot worse but its mainly because you aren't using the mechanics fully.
I remmeber feeling what you felt and its what made me start modding. Once you do that it's night and day.
It's kind of like the people who just kept throwing themself at the erd-tree sentinal in elden ring instead of leaving and coming back leveled up.
To say the game is unbalanced is a HUGE criticism but you are simply playing the game... without using the main balance feature... the mods.

@@WyldEndeavor yea man. Whats funny is that i give this game a 7 and i wouldnt really argue with a 6, honestly id take your criticizm and score at face value even as it is if you were really mad avout say the microtransacrions, terrible story, turned off by the gooner content, hated the art style, hated the shop, found the content too repetitive, found the UI too confusing. There are TONS of reasons to not like this game lol. You just seemed to fixate on things that could have evaporated lol. Theres nothing wrong with not being impressed by this game man. I just wanted to give you a sense of why this vids getting the comments its getting.
It's like, if you were reviewing football, and you didnt know you could throw the ball and you didnt know about 1st downs, so you just thought you had to rin the ball the length of thw whole field in one play to win. Why yes... that game WOULD be aweful... but thats not football lol (side note i hate football, it's just an illustration)

Please do lil bit more research. While I understand your sentiments as a newbie but the game is not "too grindy". It's actually pretty straightforward, you get all the information from the game itself whether where to go and what to get to build something. If you are still confused there are a ton of guides on youtube already. And ffs you dont have to buy anything from the shop. Only thing I bought was a skin for Freyna bc I want my character to look good ;)

I do apperciate the feed back, but this was a first impression of the game and playing it not doing indepth research into what the game is and how it should be, but just playing it and letting the game show me what it had to say and offer. All games that have a great community like this one can offer help, but the game has to stand on its own merits as well.

@@WyldEndeavoridk man youre calling this game sooo bad and i could hear that if you were playing it fully.
It is grindy, it is expensive, but its kind of an RPG, you have to engage with the RPG build mechanics. Imagine playing skyrim and never upgrading anything. Youxd have a terrible time. It feels like you didnt really give this a shot because you havent even engaged with most of the game.
Hard mode is for post game content, and im not gonna lie, its not punishing at all, if anything ita way too easy when you play it right. And im talking hard mode.

Completely disagree. Its a looter shooter and the game needs to make you hit a wall so that you can overcome it and move on to a new challenge. Seems like this is your first looter shooter MMO, suggest you play more games such as these like Destiny and warframe.

I have played destiny and warfram and the Division as well, and I don't mind a wall a grind is always good to keep you in it, but when the grind is so agasint the player that it becomes clear that the odds are more in favor with the idea of paying money to get what you need that i find and issue, but thank you for your feed back

@WyldEndeavor you don't need to pay money in this game and that's what makes it better than destiny and warframe. If you've played those games like you say, can you just run a raid with a sniper and expect to clear that content or do you actually need to invest in builds and level up your character? I think you know the answer, but I'm still not sure why did you say that you're stuck and get one shot when you're using a sniper.

    • @WyldEndeavor
      @WyldEndeavor  หลายเดือนก่อน

Its a matter of opinion between us now, I took at what is balanced and yes you do need to pay money if you want to advance quickly lets not kid ourselves this is free to play game the company makes it so you use the shop to advance quickly not just on cosmetic, and I stand by my first impression of the game, that and the fact that the game is still standing on Mixed on Steam which means I am not the only one that has issues with how the game is balanced.

@@WyldEndeavor if you've played Destiny, do you know the final shape, which is the latest expansion is worth $100 ? It includes the campaign, seasons, raid and dungeons. The raid and dungeons come with an exotic that has a 0.05% chance to drop from the final boss. What do you call that ? Unfair ? Isn't a grind supposed to be a challenge, something you can experience if you enjoy the game ? If a person likes to play the first descendent, he wouldn't need to pay a single penny. This is coming from someone who just got into the game and has 120 hours in it already. Looter shooters are meant to be like that. Have you tried the best ARPG that's been one of the best AAA titles for years, Diablo ? Have you seen how insane the grind is and the cosmetic market ? Such games are meant to be this way. Check the new season in division 2. It just came out. You're replaying the same missions that came out back in 2018 to get season pass xp. You can't judge a looter shooter saying it's grindy, it's meant to be that way.
Join me in the game and I'll run you through missions. You'll see how easy it is to target farm something. It's not an insane hours upon hours of a grind you'll showing it to be. Infact, the first descendent goes so easy on you that it puts the division, destiny and warframe to shame. It gives you bunny (a crazy fun charecter who can be built for defense btw ) to farm items, it gives you Blair a fire charecter and 2 ultimate weapons, thundercage which is an amazing SMG and gregs reversal fate (a pulse rifle) just for completing the campaign.
