  • Ever wondered why you'd want to update your Motherboard BIOS/UEFI? Or are you contemplating updating your motherboards BIOS/UEFI but have never done it before and want to know where to get an update for your motherboard, what the risks involved with updating it are and how to do it? In this video I cover all of these questions. Starting with Why someone might want to update their BIOS/UEFI, what risks are involved with a BIOS update and finally give an example of what you'll need to search for to download an update for your board as well as an example of how a BIOS update is usually executed. I hope you find the information in this video helpful and help you decide whether updating your BIOS is something you need or even want to do. Thanks for watching. Cheers. :)

Temps are fine, plenty of headroom with power supply, vram isn’t an issue.. I have no idea what the issue could be if this doesn’t fix it. @@Maraksot78 First, great video! Second, I got a question. Building my first PC using the new Ryzen 5600x with an Asus Prime x570-pro mobo. I’ve been told I may need to update the bios based on what version is on the board. So my question is will the mobo even be able to start and enter bios with the 5600x on it if it needs the latest bios to run the 5600x? Thanks in advance!

    • @Maraksot78
      @Maraksot78  3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@justinwilliams7305 My understanding is no... As far as I know you'll need to have a Ryzen 3000 series CPU in order to update to the BIOS to support a new 5000 series CPU. Of course if you get a motherboard that has already been updated by the motherboard manufacturer then you of course don't need to worry about that but if it hasn't then you'll need an older CPU to do it. There are some motherboards out there that do not require a CPU to update the BIOS but unfortunately I don't know what those boards are off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure the Asus Prime X570 is not one of them though.

I know this is an old video, but I found it researching issues with a motherboard I have purchased for a budget build. Long story short the BIOS Firmware that comes preinstalled often times will not work as is so, it needs a better version installed. I used to build components on a regular basis, but it has been at least 10 years since I have built anything so I just wanted to make sure I could still do it. Your video came up after a review of the motherboard I purchased, so big brother is still listening ha ha ha. Thanks for the video it has been most helpful.

let me tell this first, I'm Iranian so, "sorry for my bad english."
I bought a sound card and PC won't post when I installed it. the pcie card was OK and I test it on other computers. the pcie slots also were OK, I was so confused. then after 2 days of thinking and watching youtube videos , I realize that maybe this card have some incompatibility to my motherboard. then I went to my motherboard webpage for bios . say to my self " why should i do bios update where as the new beta bios has nothing to do with my problem". last night I saw your video on youtube that mentioned a tip about compatibility of new hardware's on older motherboard's. that moment I remember the description of new beta bios of my motherboard that says "improve new high end graphics card compatibility", then say to myself "hey, GPU card is pcie, and you have a pcie incompatibility problem for pcie x1 sound card".
earlier this morning I updated the bios and install my sound card and PC booted to windows and everything is OK now.
Your video was very very helpful to me. I watched all 13:40 min. full of useful tips for me. I update bios for the first time.

Your source is absolutely right, I've found your tutorial by searching how to update my bios.
And the reason is: I've build my new gaming PC using ASRock b650m pg riptide and pairing it with a Ryzen 5 7600x. Turns out some AMD's CPU's have problem with fTPM module. So around May, 2022, AMD has sent patch to motherboard manufacturers to issue bios version which rectify this error, but as it turns out that ASRock didn't do this I had horrible stuttering trouble. New version of bios is coming out and I'm educating myself 😊
There is one more solution, to buy TPM module myself, there is a port to install it directly to motherboard, there is some process to follow but is also a viable workaround to my problem.
Anyway thank you for the video! 🤗

Found the video searching for bios update on TH-cam, as I was thinking about updating the bios on a motherboard (Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2) I recently purchased for an upgrade just to have the newest version from the start. In some other vids they update before they even install CPU, (I'll be using that, Ryzen 5-5600G from my old board also a Gigabyte).
Gigabyte has different revisions on their support page, not sure if other boards are the same but as an example the B550 AORUS ELITE AX V2 I purchased has the revision number 1.1 on the bottom left corner of the board and the are also Rev 1.0 and 1.2 and the bios versions change as you change revision numbers, why I got an older revision board I don't know, old stock probably but no one mentions this during their videos updating Gigabyte boards though and I'm guessing that rev 1.1 has already been updated to the latest rev 1.0 updates and needs an update to catch up to rev 1.2. The update before the latest 1.1 update states:
    • Major vulnerabilities updates, customers are strongly encouraged to update to this release at the earliest.
Credits to "Assaf Carlsbad and Itai Liba from SentinelOne"
    • Introduce capsule BIOS support starting this version.
    Checksum : E921
    Update AGESA ComboV2 1.2.0.5
Change default status of AMD PSP fTPM to Enabled for addressing basic Windows 11 requirements (support.microsoft.com/windows/1fd5a332-360d-4f46-a1e7-ae6b0c90645c).
do you think I should at the very least do this update because of strongly encouraged to up date?
sorry to be so long winded, thanks for reading.

But may you can mention that it seems to be better to update the BIOS first, before installing the new CPU.
