    Each week I look forward to you next installment. Each are extremely well written and produced. Today I have a problem I would love to get your feedback on.
    It has to do with Rotations.
    I have multiple categories of music but I’m wrestling with the same issue across all categories. So I’ll use one as an example.
    I’m not getting my entire category played before a previously played track appears for a 2nd play. In fact some will get played 5 times while others have 0 plays.
    Here is my rotation setup within the category.
    311 songs.
    5 tracks from the category play per hour.
    Least Recently Played.
    They all have the same priority.
    Here is the formula I used.
    311 (tracks) divided by 5 (tracks per hr) = 62.2 hours to play the entire category.
    62.2 (hours) * 60 (minutes per hour) = 3732 minutes.
    3737 is put in the DONT REPEAT THE TRACK field.
    60 is put in the DONT REPEAT THE ARTIST field.
    As I said, it’s not working and I wonder if it you have any suggestions or thoughts.
    Thank you very much.
    Larry.

    To use your rotation as an example: Will songs marked with high in "Mood" only play where such tracks are specified in the rotation, or or can/will RadioDJ disregard what the mood tap in a tracks settings is set to, if the mood isn't set in the rotation. (This actually goes for all the things you can "program" in the Others tap of a track)

    • @RadioDJDude
      @RadioDJDude  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Songs with any Mood setting will play if no Mood setting is selected in a rotation. OR if you select a particular mood, then only songs that match that setting will be played.

    Is there a way, in RadioDJ, to have a overview over which rotations play where. So that you can check that you have all hours covered or that you do not have 2 different rotations planned in the same timeslot. I'm using Events to schedule the different rotations. I have made a spread sheet where I have mapped out on which times the different rotations are playing. But I see no easy way to check if reality matches my spread sheet.

    • @RadioDJDude
      @RadioDJDude  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Unfortunately, there isn't an easy way. Keeping a spreadsheet is a great idea...just make sure all your events line up with that data. I, too, run way TOO many rotations throughout the day and it does get confusing. I use a printed clock wheel chart to track rotations by the hour.

    great vid as always thank you. i just have 1 question how would you setup a rotation for a specific artist? i guess that you would have to use a SQL quary? i have seen some quarys on the forum but they don't seem to work. also i have tried to join the RadioDJ forum to ask the same question but i never seem to get the activation e-mail.. (can onyone still join the forum?) again thank you

    Question for ya: when transitioning from 1 rotation to another, does the song that is playing at the top of the hour get interrupted by the song that is scheduled to play in the 2nd rotation, or does it transition smoothly? Great Video!

    • @RadioDJDude
      @RadioDJDude  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks! Happy you dug the video. If you use an event to load your rotations, it will wait until the time you specify in the minutes section of the event action to load the next rotation. (Which I forgot to mention in the vid!) Once loaded, RDJ will wait until the current song ends before triggering the next rotation. Now, if you add a Play Now action within the event, it will cut off whatever's playing to play the first track in your new rotation...but don't do that. :)

    • @RadioDJDude
      @RadioDJDude  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sounds like you're trying to create a rotation that's an hour long? If it needs to be exactly 60 min, that's difficult to pull off without advanced coding. If it doesn't need to be exact, just add enough tracks to a rotation to fill an hour's worth of content and create an event to load the rotation when desired. @@RMS-radio-m1z

    I learned something _extremely_ important and it was a real pain to get it working again... *DON'T* delete the "default" rotation list, even if it's empty and you're not going to use it. It really angers the AutoDJ.

    How do you make a rotation with just Christmas music?

    • @RadioDJDude
      @RadioDJDude  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Kevin! Couple options: 1) Create a Christmas category and a bunch of subcats for added categorization. Build a rotation based on the subcats. 2) Create a Christmas subcat and throw every Xmas song in that bucket and have RDJ blend them all together. Option one allows for more control over your sound. You may want to program: a current Xmas song, an 80s one, a classic, one from 90s, etc. VS option two...put all songs in blender, turn on. Ho, ho, ho. DJ Drunk Santa is in the house! :)

      Thanks for watching, Larry! Yes, that does sound like a frustrating issue. I'm out of town now & don't have access to RDJ, but one thought is the artist rule isn't being followed. When I get back, I'll poke around & see if I can find anything else to try. Another option is to delete the rotation & rebuild. Sometimes that solves the problem.
