    You solved part of the mystery. I would have liked to see more detail on the hydraulic circuit and how it applied the pressure to force the clutch plate against the case. Thanks for the vid.

      Dude, I’m going though this rabbit hole with me new(old) LR Disco 3. I’m pretty sure the answers to your question is the control module and solenoids. Either that or black magic and sorcery 🤙

    I've always wondered how this sorcery worked.

    I used to have a 1964 Pontiac Bonneville with a Jetaway Hydramatic, and I'm pretty sure it had some kind of lock up in the fluid coupling. In fact, one time, I had to slam on brakes, and the engine stalled because it didn't disengage quickly enough.

    My dad has an automatic w202 mercedes with the 5 speed auto. If it's in a more dynamic driving mode it holds gears and revs when you lift and engine brakes. It literally behaves and sounds like a manual car

    Hey @monster transmissions. How quickly can a trans fail if you are running a lock up not locked? I have a TH350C and I have about 50 miles on it but I have not hooked up the switch to manually lock up the TC. It has been smelling rather like cluth plates burning (at higher RPM) is it toast, or can it recover ?

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunately, if it's burnt there isn't any saving them and it would need to be rebuilt. And yes running the TC will cause issues with overheating the fluid and the converter.

    I have a 2001dodge ram 1500 5.9L idles great in park and neutral but as soon as you put it drive or reverse it just bucks and stalls, I was told it was a torque converter lock up switch/solenoid. I seems like the converter is locking up too quick and that's why the truck stalls. Could I bypass the TC switch with a manual lock up switch in order to be able to drive my truck?? Thanx for any response in advance, this problem has about drove me crazy trying to figure it out!! Lol

    • @MonsterTransmission
      @MonsterTransmission  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not recommended i would look at why its stuck on, could be solenoid or stuck valve

    • @freebird4ever893
      @freebird4ever893 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MonsterTransmission I have discovered that it's not the solenoid, I'm thinking the converter itself is locked up, idk, I may try to put a new converter on it and see if that helps, thanx

      Depends on the unit but if its an electronic need to see if its being commanded and if its hydraulic style I would check the governor.

    I thought the transmission fluid flow into lockup clutch was to disengage lockup and blocking the fluid flow allowed the engagement of the clutch?🤷🏼‍♂️

    • @MonsterTransmission

      There is a lot that goes into building a converter and would only recommend trained professionals to attempt modifying them. A bad converter can wreck you're whole transmission. We suggest talking to our friends at www.ThorConverters.com/
