My transmission mechanic has installed everything internally. I'm left to figure how to wire it externally. The kit came with instructions but I'm scratching my head. I want to hook it up once, the right way. Is there a video on that?
I have a 1990 Corvette with the 700r4 transmission. It would be nice to have a pre set lock up by speed. For example instead of locking up in 4th gear at 45 mph I rather have it lock up in 4th at 65 mph.
What is the vacuum switch set at? I have a pretty big cam, with Low vacuum. It doesn’t seem to be unlocking the converter when in fourth gear and load is increased? I think my vacuum might be lower than the switch is set?
From the video it looks like you direct wired the hot + red wire from the TCC solenoid to the external plug and the ground wire from the TCC solenoid went to one side of the pressure switch and the other side of the pressure switch went to the external plug... My question is, aren't you supposed to wire it the opposite way??? Shouldn't the positive be wired through the pressure switch??? If I want a to control when my trans locks up, then I simply install a switch on my dash to control it... The way you have it wired up, I have to place the switch between the negative wires NOT the positive or hot wire... I have never seen this way of wiring before... Is there a benefit to wiring this up the way you have it in the video??? If so please tell me why... I would appreciate some feed back... Thank you... David...
I bought this kit 2 years ago working fine but now it dont lock up anymore I bypassed the vacuum switch even the brake switch , Could the 4th gear pressure switch can be causing this ?
hey got a question for you i have 1990 k5 blazer 700r4 trans..i just rebuild my engine and did lot of up grades i converted it over from tbi to carb so i no with out my computer i wont have no converter lock up ..so what u suggest would be the right converter lockup kit to buy i dont want to drive my truck with out it ..i no my trans may it hot with out it..let me know thanks..appreciate it..
I've got a outside wired system I think for the lockup. But cannot here a solinoid inside once I power the wires up. What would be next step in diagnostic for this lock up to work for me in 4th gear? th-cam.com/video/9nmWR2M3nvk/w-d-xo.html here is what I have...wired. But no clicking noise no nothing when hooking to positive12 volts. Thanks!
No. this kit is needed only with a 700r4 transmission in applications where you are no longer using the factory ECM to manage the engine; such as switching your engine to run on a carburetor. The 700r4 was used in a number rear-wheel drive GM vehicles from 1982 until about 1992.
You never addressed the vacuum switch??? What is that for???
It is a interlock. It unlocks the converter under load towing/pulling a hill
This presentation could be better if it included vacuum details and other important pointers.

What I want to know is how and when does the transmission kick in and out of over drive
doe the wire on the external plug lconnects to the brake switch or direct to 12 volt

Thanks for the info. Hard to watch with the music in the background.
Does it unlock when apply on brake ,Like my original set up ?

I installed a vacuum pump for the brakes and the switch. Im runner a big cam and a tunnel ram

How do you hook up the 4 pin plug
It plugs into the transmission

Itd be great if these instructional videos didnt have a distracting looped guitar riff over them that is drowning out the instructions.
will wiring through a brake switch drain the battery due to the constant power to the solenoid?
No, because it should still be wired through the 4th gear pressure sw, and if the car is off there is no pressure
What about the external harness?
thank you
So this internal wiring is all u need 4 lock-up?
No

Need to turn the music off.So you can hear what you're saying
Nice ...music video ! F
GM calls it a 200-4R and so should a professional!
No the 700R4 and the 2004R are two different transmissions any professional knows that
@@jonathanlawson4667 who said a 700-R4 and 200-4R was the same transmission?
700r4 2004r got to wonder why a major company like tci cant get that right
