    You helped me understand the changes in stall speed I experienced. 69 Nova. As weight decreased, so did stall speed. As power increased, so did stall speed.

    383 stroker in a C3 Corvette with th400 and 336 rear end with short tires (26.5" diameter). 100% street car. Had a 2600 stall and it was hard to get used to. Too much revs and noise at a stop light before going anywhere. Swapped to a 2200 and much happier.

    Good video man. Last year we were building my wife's cruiser. We called you guys, spoke with Alan, I believe. Her car is a '63 Chevy II, 10.8:1 383, AFR 195 cnc heads, dual plane intake, Holley Stealth Sniper, 241/247 @ .050", .583/.565", 112lsa, 108cl hyd roller cam, 27" tires with a 3.89 rear gear. I'd guess curb weight is around 2900lbs. You guys built us a stg2 4L60, which we went through you guys to get a FTI 9.5" 2800-3000 stall converter. We ended up using USShift quick4 controller and have stuck with their 6000rpm wot shift programmed tune. It ended up making 386rwhp/369rwtq. It runs great for being a quick little street cruiser.

Had a fbody with a 4l80 and bolt on ls1 and I went for a 5000 hard hit torque converter and I got the biggest trans cooler I could find and it was the best tc for street Ive ever experienced and Ive done a bunch of them different setups. The car actually did a wheelie at the track and was stupid fun on the street and super manageable for cruising and non wot driving

      That is all the math any customer needs to figure a stall speed out? The numbers will vary with your setup. That is a sample scenerio only. Once the baseline through this equation is figured you have to use experience as there is no dead set scenerio or first try math. It doesnt exist.

      @@PerformaBuiltTransmissions K is the math...how does one factor in weight, gearing, tires, etc. Is it all experience? For us normal Joe's, we'd like to get close based on all the factors you discussed.

    • @PerformaBuiltTransmissions
      @PerformaBuiltTransmissions  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes experience and its covered. Weight ties in when i mentioned rolling resistance in torque converter operation in the beginning and near end. Ratio is also going to come into play on how effective the vehicle reaches its stall speed from a stop into the powerband. I understand they are subtly mentioned and its alot of information. Thank you very much though! I will be doing a gearing video on final drives so i can be more indepth with it then for everyone

      You have a bad converter or something else wrong. Advice i would never ever ever buy any converter through a big outlet like summit and jegs brand. They just aren't good and the bottom of the barrel for even oem function. Pick a reputable company like fti or circle d for a solid build.

NOS is what comes out of my butt after eating empanadas LOL.

      Simple. Build your car for 1 purpose and not everything. Its all about optimizing what your building it for. If you want the car to do street and strip then the car isnt going to be optimal for either one and might not feel the greatest.

      Can keep me from doing a burnout …??

    • @PerformaBuiltTransmissions
      @PerformaBuiltTransmissions  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flawlessfades5044 yes because higher stalls are for drag racing to maximize power down the track. Street/ burnout stalls are much lower to give more bottom end torque. You should still be able to do a burnout with a higher stall spd unless your stall is completely wrong for your setup or you dont have enough power / bad technique to do a burnout.
