Own 2023 G70 Prestige there's two issues the Chrome peeling and condensation in the Headlights Genesis replaced two under warranty. It happened the third time, and Genesis refused to honor it. I hired the lemon law attorneys and won the case. Each headlight is over $2,700 plus installation.
They do bro, I've seen on reddit FB groups and forums that they've changed it under warranty. They for some reason felt like giving me shit about it so thus I made this video to blast them for it.
I didn't have stains, the whole film was peeling off. No product can save it. Only replacement would fix it. I explain it in the video. Thank you for watching 🫶 and hope you're enjoying your 🚘 !
Bro I bought a 23 g70 3.3t sports prestige. It was a dealer car with only a couple thousand miles on it and the dark chrome trim was peeling just like yours and they replaced it before I took the car and they even gave me a gv70 to drive in the mean time. But yeah I’m worried they are gonna fade again lol.
Just wrap them bro and save the headache. Chances are they will fade/peel. To try to keep it away from the sun and do all types of unethical stuff to keep your trims from peeling isn't it. I wanted to change them then wrap but they wouldn't change them so I had to blast them on this video
@ yeah I was already thinking about getting them wrapped. Seeing yours wrapped definitely sways me towards it. Also what have you done to your exhaust? The sound is my only complaint with the car and I’m having a hard time finding something good. Yours sounds great!
Chrome delete is the way to go anyway. But this has been an issue with the previous generation of car from Genesis also. Only if you get the car trim levels that come with the smoked darken chrome will you experience this issue. And folks who experienced that specific issue has always been denied by Genesis. It's minor but it's significant at the same time. Other than having that issue and Genesis not covering it, the car themselves have been awesome.
My genesis dealership replaced it on my 3 year old genesis. Never go through car washes, don't use any product on the "chrome", don't park it outside in the rain and never let fingerprints linger on the chrome.
That's dope that your dealership got them replaced them, you must have had a cool manager. But the fact that your saying never do this, don't do that. That's not something that us (the costumers) should be doing just so our chrome trim pieces don't get messed up. That's way too many do not's and never's for a car that's nearly 60k for some of us. I've had many cars in the past and this isn't something I would pay mind too. What if the costumer has no choice but to park it in the rain? Or forgets and leaves it outside in blistering sun? You're faced with consequences cause of that? That's not right imo, it's a manufacturing defect and should be dealt with accordingly. Recall it is the only option imo...like I mentioned before in another comment. We have to hold genesis accountable for this and raise awareness.
@@moon1te I agree, but I will say Mercedes is going through the same thing too. Most manufacturers have switched to fake chrome (polished aluminum with a laminate) and this is the result. Mercedes totally denied the claim on our 2021 trim, and it was doing the same exact peeling and then oxidation. Gone are the days of true chrome plating on trim I guess.
"Never go through car washes, don't use any product on the "chrome", don't park it outside in the rain and never let fingerprints linger on the chrome."... LMAO what a joke. That is COMPLETELY unreasonable to expect all that.
Yours isn’t that bad… mine basically looks like cheetah print on my driver side as it is in the sun everyday I go to work here in Az. Had the same issue with dealer quoting me $1200… will be doing the same chrome delete soon! Yours looks sick now!
🤣🤣 I feel your pain bro. Crazy how it's the heat/sun that causes the issue right? What kinda tests were y'all running to the body before you released the car to the public? Do the chrome delete and call it a day. Thanks for the compliment dude, enjoy 🙏
@ probably focused more on the Korea temps/ weather and the extreme heat and sun exposure was an after thought for the states 😑 still love my G70 to death though!
I also have a 2023 3.3T AWD SP. Only 4k miles so far on it, but luckily no issues with the trim (Yet!). Agree that's total BS on the part of Genesis. ESPECIALLY the fact they give you no reason at all. It's like they are basically saying F YOU with a smile on their face. The arrogance of them to think they don't even have to give a reason. Wow. Not a good look for them! So what exactly did the shop do? Did they remove the chrome plating off of the trim and then paint it black, or just paint right over the chrome plating? And if you don't mind, how much did it cost?
Thank you for watching first and foremost. I was beside myself when I saw the email of them denying me warranty. Till this day I have gotten 2 emails of denial and both are identical with 0 explanation. So honestly this was in August and I still don't know why. The shop wrapped them with black vinyl wrap, same process as when a car gets wrapped. I wanted to removed the dark plating first before wrapping them but they showed me on 1 of the trims that the wrap is thick enough that you don't have to remove the dark chrome plating. So I just let them wrap all the chrome around the car. That shop quoted the best price($500 for chrome wrap and roof wrap) out of all the shops I called. It's not perfect but it's a pretty solid job for the price.
Yeah I probably should've taken it to a different dealership but since I was going to the chrome delete anyway I didn't wanna go through all that again. But hey listen, what's fair is fair, my car is still under warranty I shouldn't have to keep driving around dealership asking them to cover for something that I'm in the right about. Every dealership should just do the right thing right off the bat. A costumer paying their hard earned money to you shouldn't be going through the ringer for a warranty case. Idk that's my opinion at least
Yea my apologies the first 4 minutes I recorded in mono and not stereo. After the 4 minute mark I recorded in stereo and I explain everything again as I get repetitive on it. Enjoy the video 🫶

That's awesome! Genesis knows the faulty things with this car and sometimes refuses to fix things. Did they state why they refused the 3rd time?
all of the G70s have this problem, Genesis dealer near me didn’t replace but some do I hear
They do bro, I've seen on reddit FB groups and forums that they've changed it under warranty. They for some reason felt like giving me shit about it so thus I made this video to blast them for it.
It sucks when the manufacturer doesn’t cover something that is their fault, But it looks better with the chrome delete💪🏾👌🏾
I 100% agree. It just really bothered me that they denied me warranty without reason. Thank you for watching! 🫶
Hello. I purchased mine 3weeks ago and I had chrome issues, but I used a Magic Eraser and it removed all the stains.

@@moon1teyeah I’m actually finishing it up now. Love the chrome delete though. 💪🏾
@TripleAKustomsLLC I appreciate that bro! 🙏 ❤
Mine isn't stained but one side of my car is faded. The chrome trim isn't even chrome any more
hey man just want to let you know that the eraser just removed your dark chrome, you need a replacement
Send this video too genesis .
I am sure if this goes viral they will come through.
I posted the link in the Genesis forums, hopefully genesis sees it 🤷. Thank you for watching 🫶

Perfectly put and it's exactly what i explain in this video. Chrome delete makes it look so much better. Thanks for watching 💪

Thank you sir!! 🙏
Looks awesome great video!
Thank you my dude! ❤️
At the end of July, I bought a used 2022 3.3t. Mine definitely has the same issue.
Are you going to try to claim warranty?

I had the trim replaced 2 times under warranty on my 2020 g70, cost me absolutely nothing, take it somewhere else

Nice how much did they charge?
Around $500
Wait til the wheels start peeling too! Annoying
I've heard about this online. I hope it don't get hit with that bug. But if I do, I'll powder coat them I guess 🤷...I have 0 trust in warranty lol

voice audio is only on one side, hard to listen to brother

You are complaining and rightfully so! Genesis, step up. I got mine deleted too, including the entire mirror.
Haha that's awesome dude! 💪
I don't know where its legal to drive with no mirrors.
Might need to put them back on.😂
