    That tank looks great. You did the right thing.

      It justifies itself ay the price I bought it, effectively this could be £150 to gain one functioning car! It's that simple :)

      @@usuallyfixingtinkering and less time cleaning out the carb. My escort diesel had a solenoid attached to the reverse gear so when you put the car into reverse the revs would rise to 1200 rpm

      That's an interesting feature!

    Great job. The fuel tank looks a lot better than the old one. Fingers crossed it works.

    Looks a million dollars under the rear of your Fiesta now Andrew 👏 You should always buy TWO Lion batteries, always have a backup plan🤣

      I think I'd need a 3rd lion battery, a back-up to the back-up!!!

    Also I can learn a lot from your channel as you really know your stuff! I'm looking to get my car into showroom condition again, it's only got 67000 on it

      Do you have a MK3 yourself? It takes a lot of doing and you have to be careful about how far you want to go, the more you do the less you want to use the car. It does and will happen so be careful of that balance!

      It's a daily driver but I just need to clear some minor rust off the roof where it meets the windscreen, no rust anywhere else, been quoted £550 all in for that job, it's out of my skillset but I needs doing, timing belt too and water pump is another £400 job needs doing!! And that's a necessity! Underneath has seen better days but it's been sealed apparently - lots of corrosion on break pipes etc all that will need replacing, I just don't know where to begin!

      a very modern classic, brilliant and very low mileage for one!

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering  หลายเดือนก่อน

      thats unlucky as rust near the windscreen is very rare on a mk1, has the windscreen been changed at all? rust can occur when its changed and the fitteed scratched the paint off to bare metal and it bubbles underneath the screen where it bonds and may leak. Brake pipes is common on a mk1, once changed to copper/nickel they'll last for as long as they dont get damaged. MK1's are not cheap but are worth fighting for I can assure you in the long-run, chin up sounds like you've already got the start of a plan to me!

    When it comes to rubber pipes soak the ends in hot water then put them on be easy and you can't go wrong with a Webber carb that spilt in the seal for the filler pipe I would of put it at the top and put some grease around it on the outside looks very tidy underneath for a old ford but fitting the tank on your own not easy so fair play to you but would of been easier if the car was on the top of the ramp and safer I would of used the jack to hold it like you said Andrew 😂🤣

      I did it the awkward way but it worked and I felt totally safe!

    Hey man, I replaced the instrument cluster of my mk1 ford focus because it wasn't working properly. How can i make it show my car's mileage and not the other car's mileage, that the instrument cluster belongs originally? Thank you !

    • @usuallyfixingtinkering
      @usuallyfixingtinkering  หลายเดือนก่อน

      You will need to speak to a more electronically skilled person to answer that for sure, its not uncommon to hear and I'm sure there may be a way of doing it however essentially you need to find some with the skill to effectively "clock" the mileage but in this case to the correct mileage.
