What paint did you used on the engine mounts, is it chip resistant? I wanna do my fork sliders till I can afford a proper paint job on them. Also where did you get the edging material you used on this project?
The paint is 'Simoniz Tough Paint', and yes its a dedicated flexible stone chip paint, perfect for the job.. the edging strip was just from a random seller on ebay, just look for "Car door, boot edging strip" plenty of option out there mate.
@@Moonfleet41 would I need to prime the fork legs or just clean and scuff the surface? How many coats do you recommend, wil one can be enough to do both legs?
Ah, that's a bit harsh on yourself mate, you could do it, the know the drill, measure twice, but once! Have a bash, you never know what you can achieve!

We do, but I haven’t seen one in that size. The gas cans that are more common are the plastic ones, each having a unique and horrible pour spout due to EPA regulations.
@@Moonfleet41 yes wasteland esk.. could develop the rivet theme a bit more through the covers and studded leather while incorporating different metal's i.e. steel brass copper. Could become an industrial shiek looking...
Good luck mate, good thing with the Jerry Can is that they're made from 1mm thick steel so make a really sturdy box, regular oil cans are a bit thin and flimsy... let us know how you get on!

@@Moonfleet41 just finished up and decided to use a different course of action. I used the tig welder 👩🏭 to put a good seal on it and now the only thing is she can no longer drink liquids of any type. Hope that helps anyone else out there with a similar situation. 😎

Hi Mark, yeah no trouble at all mate, and it was surprisingly good quality... have a practice at cutting it as the steel insert is like a articulated chain, if you cut carefully between each of the metal clips inside, you get a neat end that stays in shape, but if you just crop it randomly you could squash one of the little links flat and the end closes up... you'll see what I mean, have a practice and like I did, order a metre more than you need, it's not expensive as you can see... Got it on Ebay, item number: 402167650447

Thanks mate, and not really with the bandsaw as with sheet metal you need to lay it dead flat on the bed of the saw otherwise the blade can catch it and cave it in when you're cutting a can, I just figured this was the safest way to get a clean precise narrow cut!
This project is the Bee's Knees! A Jerry can as a tool box! Who would'a' thunk it? Besides learning that you can make a kewl storage box from a gas can, I also learned that a Jerry can makes a GREAT sound amplifier! That rubber mat quieted it right down, though. What a neat idea, Delboy :) And kudos on the camera work, MS Penny :) A treat to watch

hell yeah. was tryin and prying at a rusted Jerry lid just yesterday. we pretty much demolished the lid, and it was too rusted to come off 😂
