BUddy, Ive never watched one of your videos, but clicked this one because its exactly the problem I have - you cant throw them away, but those old cases end up just sitting around. You've given me good ideas, but also you've made it a really enjoyable video to watch. Love your down to earth, humble presenting style. Looking forward to watching more!

Years ago I was seeing some girl that had a dog. Her dad was yelling at her to clean up all the dog shit in the yard. He glanced at me and I was smiling. He asked why I was smiling. I told him that he should pick up all the dog shit and place it in a box. Then let it sit outside to freeze. He then can wrap the box in Christmas paper and place a little to:/from: sticker on it. He could then let the thing sit in his unlocked car for someone to steal. He did this laughing the entire time. Two weeks later he called my laughing his ass off. He said someone stole the present when he was at Walmart. My girls friend got out of cleaning up after her dog and her dad got some jollies. Some thief's girlsfriend got a nice Christmas present.

That is very cool about your fathers dust pan. I also made one 50 years ago in metal shop class out of galvanized sheet metal and a flat steel bar bent for the handle with a loop to hang it and all spot welded. I still remember making it in class and I use it almost daily as well. Very simple design and it's the very best dust pan I have ever owned. It will be handed down to my son and I know he will love it too.

You're on to something with the dad diaper case. The last thing men want to carry around is pink or baby blue floral diaper bag with lace trim. A Bosch Baby Box or Dewalt Diaper Dispatch would be the envy of DIY dads. Just add a snap on external hand sanitizer pump fashioned to look like a 20v battery and you'll be the next self made man to be featured on Shark Tank.

One idea I suggest (and will be trying myself): to keep some of the rigidity of the PE HD cases, rather than cut out the inner layer that was preshaped for the power tool, heat it up with a heat gun and see if it will sag down to the shell on its own.
It may need help into the corners, and maybe a pinhole on the outside connected to a shopvac would pull it down well. 🤷‍♂️
But this seems like a good way to open up the storage space, without cutting out the material, possibly strengthening the body?
Great video! Thanks for the inspiration!! 👍🏼

    • @TheOriginal

    • @rainger66

Hooray -- great ideas! My brother can get pallet loads of like-new cases from a company nearby that pulls the tools out for use in its huge shop. The tools get used until they break and then get tossed. Cases sit in stacks in a corner until guys like my brother come along. While some are immediately useable for actually putting tools in (like ones that came without cases or in soft totes), many of them are just too specifically designed to use for some random tool that might need protection. So, they sit around waiting for inspiration.....like this. Thanks!

@@TheBassking15 In case you're genuinely asking, Braden Hosking means to use the weight to provide compression between two wooden boards that are being glued together. Modern woodworkers use a lot of glue in their projects. Typically clamps are used to provide the pressure but in certain situations adding weight on top of the two (or more) pieces is required. In fact something similar was done in this video when he was compressing the plastic cutting board to squeeze out the air pockets.

More ideas, thanks. Always hated carring tools loose. I have old steel cases for my Skilsaws.
I modified a Dewalt box to carry a 1/2in impact wrench and a 1/4in compact impact gun, for going to the junk yards. Carries both with batteries attached and a spare 4ah battery.
When going to help my son with projects, the same case carries a 1/2in drill motor and 1/4in impact gun.

@@youhaveinfinitevalue5755 Hi! I can describe what I did. Here goes: I used a Dewalt drill case and a Dewalt 18V battery for power. Alligator clips connect the battery to the circuitry. I installed the following in the cover: 12V indicator light with "Armed" label; momentary push button switch; 3.5 mm mono audio jack (for safety key). The "Armed" indicator light is wired from the load side of the safety jack to negative battery terminal to indicate key is inserted. Key is 3.5 mm mono plug shorted at connectors. I put a labelmaker label on it pendant style reading "Safety Key". It just completes the circuit to the launch cable. For that, I used about 30 feet of 2 conductor stranded (18 or 20 AWG ?) with small alligator clips for the ignitor. Black to battery negative, red to load side of push button. Cable, motors, key, and ignitors all fit inside. If I recall correctly, our rocket fit in there too. Hope this gives you enough info. Be safe!
