    As a Army welder we were taught how to paint camo on everything. I don't want to be a negative Nancy but the colors are a tad off. OD green usually is the base and sand is a secondary. This is for stateside and Europe army colors. Or woodland. Other than that you did pretty good. I still give a thumbs up..

      Thank you and really appreciate the feedback as I have no experience with knowing the exact colours and camouflage styles I am happy that I am close lol….I understand that most people will just go with whichever colour they wish my goal was just showcasing how I create the pattern and hopefully that will help people when they have a go themselves . Thanks again for the great insight love hearing from someone who has a vast knowledge on the topic 👍🏻👍🏻😉

      Aussie camo is pretty sandy/beige the country is mostly a desert after all. For Europe, USA and Asia you'd definitely want more and darker green.

      Ex Royal Air Force Painter here (yes it used to be an actual trade), I've worked on everything from Tornados to Spitfires & we would paint camo wet on wet using 1ltr/2ltr pressure pots, either acrylics(for the vintage WW2 stuff) & polyurethane for the more modern jets etc.
      There are drawings for the patterns of each aircraft & you have to follow them exactly. Just thought I'd share cos most don't know we existed lol

    Getting into airbrushing, gonna start on plastic models, wanna do camo bases with nifty things to finish. Just found your channel. I just bought a compressor/airbrush kit, my curiosity is mostly what PSI should run for different applications. It's a .03mm gun.

    Love it "I'm JUST going to use a few airbrushes" LOL Masking is cheaper we can't all afford multiple airbrushes.

  • @rickrodrigues2219
    @rickrodrigues2219 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Masking I find is tedious & although it may leave sharper edges I like the soft overspray around the edges of the camo that tends to blend into the adjacent colour. After all that's what camouflage is all about...to disguise & blend into the surroundings. And now I suppose I'll have to buy a few air nozzle & needles to make this work.

    • @jkg6211
      @jkg6211 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sometimes a "reverse" sharp line can produce an amazingly effective camo pattern - I've seen "Riptile" camo in real life (not just online photos), and it's amazingly effective.
      It blended in with the surroundings better than anything else I've ever seen.

    I borrowed a mate’s camo’d 30’06 the other day to knock over a big ol’ pig. Long story short, I got the bugger, laid the rifle down while I slung the pig in a tree. So I turned around to grab the rifle & couldn’t find the bloody thing. Looked for hours. Anyway, I decided best thing to do is camo one of my rifles and convince him that it was the one I borrowed. But I’ve only got a 22 & a 22/250 in similar stock.
    So for the past couple of days running around like a chook with its head cut off buying up all this airbrushing gear. Got to $800 and the missus found out. So she’s valve bouncing now. Ah man, when it rains, it pours doesn’t it.
    😉

    Hi Can you please advise the type/brand and quality of the sketch/ring binder book you use.
    I have just outlaid a lot of money setting up to Airbrush with quality equipment and need plenty of practice paper to attack.
    I also want to learn to Airbrush some of my 3D printed models.
    I have purchased several items from your online store but can't find any practice paper.
    I enjoy all your videos and have almost downloaded all your play lists.
    After viewing hundreds of You Tube videos on the subject it appears that some presenters
    have earthshattering music and mind blowing intros but lack good content and personality
    suited to teaching. ( This is my personal opinion, of a lot of life experience.)
    You have an easy stile to teaching Airbrushing.
    Thank you for producing great content.
    Regards Ernie the old newbie from rural NSW.

      Hi Ernie, thanks for your comment the sketch book that I use can be found at most retailers including Officeworks, Kmart even some of the $2 shops around Australia . I use an A3 one but anything like that will be great for practice. Another great material for practice is T-shirt’s as they are absorbent so it makes airbrushing a little easier 👍🏻 hope that helps and thanks for your kind words re my videos .

    The marble in your jars that's very new to me, does it work with bearing balls to?

    • @KiiLLzUK
      @KiiLLzUK 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, anything (preferably round) that isn’t going to be degraded by the paint your using will work.
      It just works by the added movement helping the paint mix better and get some off the sides of the bottle. 😃

    • @jackmehoff6767

      They tend to rust and ruin paint. I like to use hematite beads for agitators.

      These marbles come in the trident empty bottles and are great to help mix the paint. I would stick to marbles as ball bearings could eventually effect the paint 👍🏻

    @3:44 "If you want to do this on a model airplane or a tank. Something that's curved. Well, it's going to be a lot harder for you to cut masks and put them on a curved surface."
    Just FYI, the goto method of dealing with this on models is to mask with silly putty or blutack. This method has been around for a long time.

    • @woody3590
      @woody3590 ปีที่แล้ว

      they do make masking tape for curves!

    • @ColonelSandersLite
      @ColonelSandersLite ปีที่แล้ว

      @@woody3590 Yep but it's only sorta sometimes ok for that particular application. The big problem is handling free flowing camo patterns that go over complex shapes. Works fine if you're just masking a pretty smooth wing surface on an aircraft. Works very poorly when you're needing to mask over the engine decking or hatches on a tank where you have lots of switching between between concave and convex and hinges and engine gratings and windows and stuff. Naturally, bigger scale stuff is easier and finer stuff is a lot harder. The blue tack method though, you just smoosh it down real good and it fills all the complex shapes no problem.

    • @woody3590
