    For those formulating natural cosmetics, since propylene glycol isn’t considered natural
    You can use glycerin/propandiol with sodium lactate. It doesn’t re-crystallize after the addition of water.

      Sodium lactate basically neutralizes it into Sodium Salicylate

    Great video. I heard that salicylic acid can dissolve in baking soda and water solution, will it work? Is it possible just to mix SA powder in cream or shampoo, what do you think?

    • @theprimeside
      @theprimeside  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It will elevate the pH so that Salicylic acid can dissolve but then it won’t be active since sA will do better with pH around 4

  • @x_HarleyQ_x

    I've heard people heat up the propelyne gycol before adding the salicylic acid, and also adding a tiny bit of soduim citrate as well to help completely dissolve the salicylic acid. Have you ever experimented with either of those? If so, what were your results? Thank you so much for sharing your educational video!

      I tried sodium citrate, it dissolves SA perfectly! You can use ONLY it (e.g. I tried 2% SA and 2% citrate in water) and it also helps to prevent recrystallization of SA.

      @@fareloz so do I make an aqueous solution of water and Sodium citrate? Or dissolve in Sodium citrate only? And in your experience, at what tempurature is appropriate to add the salycilic acid to prevent recrystalization?

    • @fareloz
      @fareloz 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@x_HarleyQ_x sodium citrate is a powder, so you dissolve it together with salicylic acid. I do not heat the solution, only sturing (sometimes it takes long time I should say)

    • @x_HarleyQ_x
      @x_HarleyQ_x 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@fareloz yes, Sodium citrate is a powder, I just wasn't sure if it needed to be dissolved in water by itself first, then heated to a certain temp before the salycilic acid could be added. I know many other solvents that can dissolve salycilic acid fully have to be heated first in order to completely dissolve and prevent recrystalization once brought back to room temp. Thank you for your insights 😁

    Hello Prime Side,have you tried the SA and Soduim Citrate in water, what was the result, did it recrystallize back,and can it be tried with Glycol,did it recrystallize back. Then, finally can adding Soduim Citrate to facial solution hinder its efficacy
