@@itsaaronmiller I wouldn’t think the limitations is hardware if the xs20 is using an older sensor with the same chip. But hey I could be wrong. Hopefully it does come down the line
I'm really hoping it's because they're working on a bigger video centric update for the xh2s that fixes other issues like low res hdmi output when settings/ menu overlay is on. But I'm probably wrong.
Super helpful - I hadn't realised about the Front Command Dial switch as the work-around for the front dial no longer being 'clickable'. Super-pleased, like you, that the X-H2S now works like my other X-series cameras with the shutter dial set to 'T' (or close enough). No more muscle memory issues slowing me down! Thank you!
Glad this was helpful! And totally agree. You’d think I would have gotten used to the iso button but after 10 months, I still would adjust aperture from time to time haha. Thanks for watching!
I thought I had the same audio issue. It’s not an issue it’s user error. I even sent the camera to Fuji to have them check it (after several calls with tech support) The preset you’ve chosen C1, C2, etc has the gain set at a level. When you turn the camera on and change the settings, it will keep those new settings for only as long as you have it on. Then when you power it off and back on its reset to your preset. The only way to change that is if you have it set to automatically update your preset with any change you make. Super frustrating until you learn how the camera “thinks”. IIRC it’s different than my XT4’s
I wouldn't call that a user error either though. IMO that is poor design. There should be global settings that aren't saved or changed with custom presets. That should be one of them or at least have the option to have that as a global settings. I appreciate the heads up on this though! I can at least get it in the ballpark!
Wrong! It’s a bug. I have my custom setting to “enable” auto update custom setting. Every time I set my audio level then turn off the camera and turn it back on it defaults to some over modulated db setting. What’s worse is it’s not at that db level because when I go back to readjust the level again it still says it’s on the previous db setting but obviously it’s not because the audio is way over modulated.
I think it does the same reset for custom focal lengths when using adapted/ manual lenses. The custom modes just seem way too compromised to use as a substitute for changing frame rates.
I forgot to add, I also do wish we could have the labels we create for our custom settings show up on the screen for C1, C2, etc. Although I realize that with enough usage these will become second nature, the labels would be useful.
My H2S AF had stopped working during a day's video shooting. I had to power Off/On the camera to restart AF. Later I was shooting stills and I had occasional lockup and once I had to remove the battery to fix. I would advise CAUTION on upgrading on a production camera!
Yikes! Fortunately I have some downtime from events, so I can monitor it in less stressful environments. Still have my other camera on older firmware too. Hopefully they fix this soon!
I was really pissed about the timecode resetting to zero on every clip, but I seem to have found a workaround. I set the timecode to "current time" or time of day and at least I'm not dealing with the zeros after every clip and the producer can make timecode accurate logging.
@@86london the whole back LCD has a red border around it while you are recording. This is on the XT5 and XS20 but isn’t on their “flagship video camera”. This is super helpful to make sure you are actually rolling
Why all the other cameras like xt5 and xh2 got an improved autofocus with ai while the flagship and more expensive xh2s doesn't have it?! This is just unbelievable!
@@MrAlbertein ohhhh, I thought and HOPED it was something better and new. Indeed, the autofocus of the Xh2s is still far away from being decent (I am talking about stills and wildlife photography. I have no idea about videos or portraits/ street photography.)
@@MrAlbertein well... There are a few reviews on here about it's behavior in wildlife... It s not terrible... I personally think it S better than my old xt4, however it costed me much more, so I was expecting a way better results. Of course, I cannot expect the same autofocus on the canon r3 or Sony a1 (7k cameras). Initially, I had the 70-300 mm + 1.4 tc, and I was not happy. I thought I needed a lens with faster motors so I got the 100-400mm, with 2 LM. This lens is old, but it received a new firmware upgrade 2 weeks ago to perform better with the xh2s. Well... Let s say you have a bird jumping in the grass. The bird is black, the grass is green. 2/3 of The bird is higher than the grass... When bird detection mode is selected, the lens keeps breathing and 30 percents of the time you end up with a back focus! However, if you remove the bird detection mode and keep just the simple square on the bird, the focus is OK. So, clearly, it s the ai that is not much intelligent 😂 however, I think with ppl is much better, although I tried just few times
Man but why didn't they make the clickable dial like for example the xt3? what button did you assign and click to switch from iso to open with the front dial?
ok i found it, with the iso button. honestly it's still a welcome improvement but it remains complicated if you have the smallrig cage. they left zero space for the iso button, but smallrig is to blame here. A really poorly done cage. a clickable dial, that was needed. i work mainly in weddings where speed and setting changes are crucial
@@serghios Apparently the clickable dials were not added to the XH2/S for increased weather sealing. You could program any button you like for the "switch" function, doesn't necessarily have to be the ISO button.
I haven’t had too many issues with the small rig cage. Just took a little getting used to. But now I should be solid with rarely changing fstop in a fast manner but being able to change iso on a fly!
@@nightowlnzab You're right, I've been using h2s so little that I just took it back after 5 months yesterday. it's my second camera, I need to use it more and take advantage of all its pontentialities. thank you for your reply, you deserve a lot more views and visibility so that besides you gain we all gain because the upgrades you ask for we pretty much all share and fuji you must listen to us
Dam still no red frame outline when recording. Did it not make sense to add it to the flag ship 😢
Agreed. Is it possible it’s a hardware limitation? It makes way too much sense for this to be on the flashshp camera

True. I love that feature.
Thanks, I was having the darnedest time getting the ISO to work and you explained it perfectly. My front Dial now controls my ISO, Thank You!!!

You can always just switch out of manual focus! But agree, that would definitely be nice to quickly toggle it on and off while still in MF.
I'm hoping that they enable separate button mapping for video next!
We have a new firmware update 5.3 kindly check
Please make a new video asap about 6.0 :D
Hi, so the autofocus on xh2s is still better/on par with that on the xh2/xt5 after their big firmware upgrade? Thanks

Why in my “command dial setting M” look deferent? No iso option.. should upgrade firmware?
There seem to be huge problems with the auto focus since the last update before this one. I am waiting for a fix before ordering my ex H2S.
I haven’t ran into any of those issues on the newest firmware at all. Do you know specifically what’s going on?
Need to review the AF. Any improvement on the H2s, over the previous firmware?
Seems about the same to me!
I will never listen to you slurp coffee again
Works for me! I mean idk who it was technically because it was a sound effect 😉
Why would you need the aperture on the front dial? Do aperture rings only work in Aperture Priority?
Any adapted lenses, speedboosted, and some 3rd party lenses do not have aperture rings!
Hahahahah finallyyyyyyy. That damn command dial.
But now I just picked up an fx3. Lol.
It’s ok, I’m still keeping my xh2.
Let’s see a comparison of the two!
@@itsaaronmiller definitely will put a vid together! Just wanna get some more shoots with the fx3 so I can speak to it properly. :)
did you also find that the 'front command dial switch' wont function once the camera is filming?
Good observation. Yeah seems like it doesn’t work. Shouldn’t be the end of the world, but definitely should be fixed. Baby steps I guess 😅
Do you know why you can´t use the aperture ring if you assign the front dial to the iso? And is stupid to block the iso during recording.
I’m able to adjust iso while recording. And I’m not experiencing the aperture ring not working either. Are you in optimized movie mode by chance?
I think it's embarrasing that Fuji still hasn't added the red frame while recording video. I was really hoping for that today during the Fuji Summit.
Yeah here’s to hoping they add it soon!
