Been out since 2004. OIF/OEF veteran. Had no idea about Gulf War Presumptive until recently. Guess I'd be screwed with trying to get these migraines, cardiovascular, skin conditions and chronic fatigue rated. Luckily I got rated hundo p&t for another condition. SAPPERS FOWARD!

Diverticulitis with IBS is common. 7327 diverticulitis/ 7319 Irritable colon syndrome provides that the disability should be rated as for irritable colon syndrome.

I take it personal when people think , I just got handed this . I served and went thru a lot . The 1% to do it. I spent thousands on medical exams , MRI’s, x rays , appointments to get this benefit . You can’t make it up if the evidence shows. So I rather have my health then money but that was the price to serve and was willing too. Veterans get your stuff you earned it .

If I was diagnosed with rhinitis by my primary care in 2017 I am oif vet and I decided to file a claim for it cause I didn’t know it was something I could claim till last year and I have really bad sinus infection several times a year so I filled out a claim and they want to send me to a private urgent care clinic to get diagnosed but it’s over a hour away went to first appointment on a Saturday the provider didn’t show up and the next appointment was when I had Covid just wondering why my first diagnosis isn’t sufficient enough or is it and they aren’t really looking at my records

My father got gulf war syndrome and is disabled for years now.
A few months after he got his first symptoms and started to get really sick, I got a massive fever, I was hardly ever sick.
After that I stayed tired having brain fog, and having similar symptoms as my dad, like insomnia, indigestion, weak joints, memory problems, and much more.
It’s now many years later and still the doctors can’t find out what’s wrong with me.
Then gulf war syndrome came up in a article online, saying it might be contagious, I’m afraid I might have it to.
Is there any blood test I can do that will show if I got the gulf war syndrome to?

    • @VAClaimsInsider
      @VAClaimsInsider  2 ปีที่แล้ว

Unfortunately there is not a blood test, it is diagnosed through symptoms.

You are incorrect about the "10 years from ETS". You could be diagnosed with Irritable bowel (IBS), Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue today and it would still be eligible.

Thanks for all the great info! Persian Gulf War veteran here. Had a sleep study done and was diagnosed with severe mixed sleep apnea before 31 Dec 2021 and prescribed a CPAP machine and therapy. What is the latest on the Presumptive route for SC using the “sleep disturbances” or “respiratory problems” symptoms that fall under the “Undiagnosed Illness” category. I hear/read many stories of denial for sleep apnea - even with confirmed diagnosis/CPAP issuance - under those symptoms. I understand that sleep apnea in and of itself is not a “Presumptive” condition, but shouldn’t it be able to get Service Connection by virtue of it being a “sleep disturbance” which is one of the actual listed symptoms in the “Undiagnosed illness” category of the Persian Gulf War Presumptive conditions? Have you, or anyone reading this, heard of anyone successfully claiming sleep apnea under the Presumptive process? Thanks!

So it depends how they view they disability and if it fall us under the 10% rating then yes your denial letter should say whether it’s presumptive, (38 USC )I’ve got claims approved for presumptive service connection (Major depression)and claims denied for presumptive service connection (headaches) because it didn’t meet the 10% disability requirements

Army and Desert Storm. Lots of burn pit and oil fire exposure along with all the battlefield environmental issues encountered with the 2ACR. I have Fibromyalgia, chronic pain, brain fog, and chronic fatigue to name a few. I put in a claim and it was denied by McGuire VA because I could not prove it was service related. Evidently it is all in my head. I don't think the VA knows what "presumptive" means. Needless to say, this caused me to become depressed and not very happy. All I can do is curse the VA and live with it. I fall under the VA's "Wait for the problem to die" policy. SO, fuck the VA.

I'm frustrated though. I was diagnosed with severe obstructed sleep apnea and issued a cpap. I was service connected for sleep apnea due to gulf War but they only gave me 0%. My attorney and myself is completely confused why. It's on the appeal but just pisses me off. I did the sleep conditions due to GW back in 2013 but they did the sleep apnea to 2017. Its a mess.

Looks like I missed out on my Gulf War chronic fatigue. I never felt like I wanted to put in a claim for anyting.. but now some of my old aircrew buddies are telling me they're filing claim on issues.. I only served 22 years. But the symptoms are here and now. Skin Cancers and other things. Fatigue, I was in golf 1 Gulf to Southeast Asia three tours. I assume my skin issues came from hydraulic exposure jp4 exposure and wash rack.. when I started out I was a crew chief F-4D. Being young and dumb I got exposed to all those things. Couldn't wash them out of the fatigues no matter how many times I put them through the laundry. Being doused with hydraulic fluid. And cleaning it off on the flight line with JP4 until you got back to the barracks to take a shower. 😮 Oh my, we were so much younger then. But now I'm fighting different skin cancer and shin issues. It's horrible. One of my brethren shrine just tell me to
File claims. We both serve desert shield desert Storm. I did three tours as a combat aircrew. Yep used to go to brag pick up you guys down and Romeo row.

I want to know why the VA refuses to include Afghanistan deployments for conditions on the presumptive list. I have many of the presumptive issues, but I have to prove it? Such bullshit! We had the same austere, harsh environment. It should be considered before “the air space above” any of the included countries. Give me a break. 🙄

It seems to me that the exposures (petro chemical fire and smoke) and medical prep (anthrax shots and other pills and shots) may have been different between the two theaters of operation.

False. Desert Storm vets can claim presumptives at any time. No closing date

Hi Thomas, you have to be diagnosed with one of these conditions before Dec 31, 2026 (this date was recently extended) in order to be eligible to file a presumptive claim.
Here's some information about Gulf War presumptives from the VA >> www.va.gov/opa/pressrel/pressrelease.cfm?id=5733

@@VAClaimsInsider that's the date now. That will be pushed down the road again and again until all of us vets are dead. I don't need the advise you gave. I'm in the hundo P&T club.
